A patch mod to allow any or all of Terrain Slabs (TS), Visible Ores and Minerals (VOM), Medieval Architecture (MA), Food Shelves (FS) to work better with/show textures of the wonderful texture pack, Conquest VS Edition.

You do not need to install all the mods for this to work. The only required mod is Conquest VS Edition.

The upstream mods and art belong to their authors; my patch code is CC0. I'd like this patch folded into the appropriate mods once the approach is validated.

Notes:

  • Conquest VS supports Terrain Slabs already. My patch enables tiling/connected-textures specifically as well for the slabs.
  • The Food Shelves patch only fixes the barrel when on barrel racks. It does not alter any other textures.
  • A mod guide page describes some of the following in more detail:
  • The ability to trim specifically the green saturation of Conquest VS' foliage:
    • .ctc vibrancy <insert a decimal from 0 to 1>
  • Also contains a small fix to large lanterns being placed on walls.

[1.1.0] - 2026-09-15

Added

  • Medieval Architecture compatibility (vanilla-looking archways). Medieval Architecture resolves its archway/window/gate/roof/trapdoor stone and wood textures via AttributeRenderingLibrary's {rock}/{wood} attribute templating, hardcoded to plain vanilla texture paths. Conquest never reskins several of those exact paths in place — it reskins rock, stonebrick, cobblestone, and planks via its own separate blocks/folders instead, since vanilla itself still actively uses the plain paths elsewhere (loose rocks, ore host rock, cobblestone paths, plank floors) — so an MA archway built next to a Conquest-textured wall rendered vanilla stone and visibly clashed. Fixed with 37 addmerge JSON-patch ops across 32 MA block files (patches/compatibility/medievalarchitecture/texture-remap.json), each gated dependsOn medievalarchitecture, redirecting the affected refs to Conquest's equivalent tile — verified across all 14 vanilla rock types and all 12 real wood types. Generated by a new dev tool, build/generate-ma-compat-patches.py, from a local extraction of the target mod; re-run it if MA restructures its texture paths or block-behavior arrays in a future release. A caught-early gotcha: MA's assets/confession/ folder has no domain override in its modinfo.json, so its blocktypes register under the confession: domain, not game: (the game domain is only where the textures it references live) — the patches target file: "confession:blocktypes/…" accordingly. Three families MA references needed no fix at all: agedbrick, wood/debarked, clay/daub/*, and wood/planks/generic are already Conquest-overridden in place; overlay/damagedstone/ crackedcobblestone have no Conquest equivalent and stay vanilla by necessity. See docs/HANDOFF-medievalarchitecture.md. Verified in-game (Conquest v1.0.7, MA v1.1.1, VS 1.22.6).

Works great. Well done.

Totally out of bounds question, feel free to ignore <3

Do you know/think it's possible to keep the vanilla dimensions of the grass covering while maintaining the texture that Conquest puts on it?
Since installing Conquest, I find the tops of vanilla grass incredibly ugly, though I must admit that especially with Terrain Slabs, it does look more natural (on mountainous terrain, at least).
I am very unfamiliar with modding textures, so figured I'd ask someone who's clearly more experienced, but feel free to ignore me.

I agree with your stylistic preference, but feel kind of bad actually turning off Conquest VS capability and textures while I'm trying to get their help incorporating these patches. Maybe if I get some traction, we can talk about turning this patch into something where we can revert those grasstops to vanilla texturing.

Does this connect textures for other things as well? Because it seems the texturepack is missing that from its other game counterpart. Thanks!

See here for what Conquest means when it says "Connected Textures". My patch is an effort to allow slabs specifically to pick up the connected textures that Conquest already ships for their full-size block equivalents. My patch is also incomplete, as the work would more efficiently be done by the original authors.

Would it be possible for you to allow us to disable the tree textures as well? I mainly want to reduce conquest down to its leaf textures

I was looking at that specifically because of comments like yours on their modDB page! The short answer is no. Just turning off STONE would actually take me all week. It's a pretty complicated texture pack logic, it's not just the textures, but also very low level code that I don't fully understand. It's a question to pose to them, I can't help with that.
