Description

If you want to place things on a wall, you're limited to having a whole block or a chiseled block with a whole layer right at the block's face. This mod allows you to place wall-mounted items on any chiseled block surface:

  • Torches/Lanterns/Oil lamps
  • Paintings/Tapestry
  • Antler/shield mounts
  • Wall signs
  • Tool racks/Vertical racks
  • Wall-leaning tools
  • Vines

Let me know if I missed any!

A flat chiseled surface is not needed, it will take the depth of the aimed voxel for the offset (provided it won't collide with any voxel closer to the block face).

Note: this is a visual/collision offset, the item is still placed on the air block in front of the block, meaning nothing else can be put there.

Safe to add/remove to ongoing saves?

Yes, things will just float in mid-air if removed

You may also like my other chiseling mods!

Chiseled ground placement: Similar to this one, but for items placed on the ground, like firepits, chests, beds, etc
Dense ground storage: Allows placement of small things, like pots and bowls, inside chiseled blocks.
Better insulation: Makes the logic for determining if a chiseled block is insulating, so chiseled windows become possible

Thank you. Thank you! I tried chiseling for the first time yesterday and promptly hit the vanilla game's barriers and went insane. I've downloaded several of your mods and things have improved, but this one in particular has made me the most happy.

Heya, I love this mod! Would it be possible to mount shelves this way in the future?

Edit: I had been having issues mounting it on one side of a chiseled wall, but out of curiosity, I tried mounting it on the other side and it worked! I'm not sure why this would be the case. I made sure nothing else was in the way, but it's still telling me that the shelf must be mounted on a solid face.. but only on one side of the block! This is most mysterious.

Literally everything I've wanted.  You're a SAINT.

Got a crash when I tried to place an oil lamp on a chiseled wall:

@Queltis: Should be fixed on the latest version

my is still crashing

@Latiad82: my is still crashing

Oh, there was another issue. Try now. The other one is a conflict with chiseled ground placement, so make sure to update that one too

Orangesss, Aug 10th at 5:05 PM

Is it possible to place vines? Great work on the mod.

Orangesss, Aug 15th at 9:34 PM
@Queltis: It is now!

Nice, I haven't updated it yet but is it possible to place the bony cow skulls too yet?

Froggy_, Aug 9th at 12:44 AM (modified Aug 9th at 12:50 AM)

Great mod, thanks for sharing!

Would adding ladders be possible?

Also the decorative objects from QP's Chisel Tools would be great but I get if you don't want to add compatibility with other mods

Ladders are a bit more complicated, it's on my to-do list. Mod compatibility is also on it, but not a priority right now

OOOoooooooo

Kimat, Aug 6th at 4:21 PM

Support for tools placed on ground would be awesome.

Also connection for fences adjacent to chisel blocks.

Tools leaning on chiseled walls is a great suggestion! They also just need an offset, latest version implements that. Now, fence connections is a little more complicated. I might revisit that idea later.

Should I remove "Lantrerns At Home" if I install this?

Queltis , Aug 6th at 5:57 PM
@MadSeraph: Should I remove "Lantrerns At Home" if I install this?

That depends. Lanterns at home is more advanced and gives more freedom on lantern placement. This mod is a simple offset. If you don't need the advanced stuff, it's ok to only use this mod. If you need advanced stuff, I just shipped a version that detects if that mod is installed and leave lanterns to it, so there are no conflicts. Note that if you're already playing with that mod and want to swap it for this one, you probably will need to pick up and replace any lanterns with offsets. Make a backup first, just in case.
