Fantasy foliage theme pack originally designed for the Solaria's Solace server. First image (4 seasons) is this mod only on low graphics settings. Other screenshots are with Sheyder + Global Illuminator + GoFogYourself on high graphics settings.

Completely changes all the vegetation colors in the game to add more of a whimsical fantasy feel. Greener grass, greener plants, and generally improved foliage colors. The world is less yellow and more lush and verdant.

Things that *should* be evergreen are evergreen like pines and papyrus. There are some unrealistic elements like trees that get bluer in colder climates and birch trees that turn pink in the spring. It also fixes non-temperate climate foliage being all the same color. Acacia trees and papyrus in the savanna will no longer be the exact same color as the grass and boreal forests are no longer orange-brown. The grass is also much less brown in the fall and winter.

Not a shader nor a texture pack exactly. This is a modification to climate and seasonal foliage tints only.

Patches:

  • Adds a grass tint climate map and makes soil blocks use that instead of foliage tint.
  • Fixes a base game bug with walnut branchy leaves

Compatibility: this mod is NOT compatible with any other mods that modify season or climate foliage colors such as my PNW Colors mod or Cooler Greens. Nothing bad will happen, stuff might just look off. Otherwise it only touches plant foliage colors (not wood or anything else) and is 100% client side so shouldn't have any issues with other mods and is safe to add and remove from worlds.

Please let me know if you find anything that looks off or is clearly unintentional! This is a somewhat complex mod to test fully so there may be some minor things that look weird.

Known issues:

  • There are some narrow climate bands where the pink birch flowers are grayish lavender colored.
  • Another narrow climate band where walnut trees are ugly in november.

Hey! It seems like the mod is actually server-required 😅 It doesn't work on my client unless I also have Solaria's Sauce installed on the server, even though the page says it's client-side.

Would it be possible to make it work as a client-side mod like it's listed? I really love the foliage colors, but I don't know if all of my players will want to use it, so it'd be nice if it could stay client-side!

@Willownezz: removed yellow grass in the summer 😞 but why? 😭

people were complaining about it. I might make a patch to optionally put it back though because I personally really like the dry grass!

It was one of my favorite parts lol, I would appreciate it if you made an optional patch.

Something you could do for now is use the older version of the mod.

Hey this is great and thanks for checking out my fog mod :) I am working on a shader that has various presets for foliage and what not I would love to add yours into it with obvious credit in the modinfo hover tooltips and even the preset selection itself  on who made the preset but I love the color scheme :)  definately captured quite the scenery with it on make for beautiful shots but currently overrides my own shaders presets, so alas can not run them together hence the wanting to add your or at least a compatibility so if your mod is detected it adds a setting in my mod for it as a preset with the others? would be stoked to have them work together in any form.   if interested in seeing what it does its gonna be released in a week or two here for a semi just out of beta phase.

This looks amazing! You're welcome to add it as a setting for sure. Let me know if there's anything I can do on my end to help / make things work together better.

Thanks again for making the fog mod!

Sorry, I'm unrelated to the conversation, but I just wanted to say I am very excited for your shader to be released! It is exactly what i've been looking for! Being able to edit the colors live in game will be a game changer for scenic builds. I was wondering, could this be compatible with Mirrors by Cheeki? I hope I don't come across as demanding, shaders are just very outside of my modding experience so I really don't know if it's possible or how to do it.

funny you should say that my water reflections use planar system built off the research of eric lengyel as well as many papers from gpu gems and not SSR so it should not be to hard to tie his in but that is up to cheeki to make compatible with my mod as I will not alter his code or step on his toes in any way and if he says no he says no I respect him and his work. but my mod uses planar already so it will most likely not be compatible. Cheeki it is up to him and I will respect his decision when we do get around to releasing our shader pack if he does not want to or allow me to make his compatible with mine I will push this issue no further. If however you would like to be a beta tester feel free to reach out to me on the VS discord same name and private message me we are always looking for testers and feedback but goes without saying it wont be compatible with any other shader mods. This goes without saying tho running that much planar reflections in a world is going to be very costly.

What's the incompatibility? But as it has already been said, having multiple planar reflections in view is not exactly performance friendly. Mirrors culls as much as it reasonably can but even then there is still significant overhead.

yep yep, and depends how you built your planar if there is a difference in mechanisms or things do not align I imagine it might get wonky I have not tested your mirrors mod yet cause as you and me said that much planar is very expensive and I am on a potato I tricked into being smart. Might give it a test here tomorrow tho and see what bugs actually do arise who knows might be useful to someone on a nasa computer haha

Does this color change work with the decorative leaves from Aldi's? It would be awesome if it did <.<

It does! As long as the mod uses the base game color tint this mod will work.
