Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.22.0 - 1.22.3, potentially outdated):
Pico TrashSlot_v1.0.1.zip 1-click install
Pico Trash Slot adds a small trash slot that attaches to the right edge of your inventory screen, giving you a fast, clean way to get rid of junk — cobblestone, rotten scraps, extra saplings, whatever's cluttering your bags. Inspired by the classic Minecraft TrashSlot mod, rebuilt natively for Vintage Story.
Features
- Seamless & docked — the slot appears as an extension of your inventory, not a separate floating window. It follows the inventory if you drag it around, and opens/closes instantly together with it.
- Trashcan icon — the empty slot shows a faded trashcan so it's always clear what it does; the icon hides once you place an item.
- Two-step deletion (accident-proof) — dropping an item just stages it; it isn't destroyed until you drop a second item on top. You can pull a staged item back out any time before that, so a single misclick can never cost you anything.
- No lost items on logout — anything still staged when you log off is dropped at your feet instead of vanishing. (not anymore due to the last patch)
- Server-authoritative — item removal is validated on the server, so there's no desync or ghost items in multiplayer.
- Lightweight — no persistent save data, no world edits, no new blocks or recipes.
How to use
- Open your inventory.
- Drop an unwanted item into the trash slot (top-right of the inventory).
- Drop a second item on top to permanently delete the first. That's it.
Compatibility
- Game version: 1.22.3 (.NET 10)
- Side: Universal — required on both client and server. On multiplayer servers, install it on the server and it will be required for connecting clients.
- Doesn't modify vanilla inventories, so it should play nicely with other inventory mods.
Credits
Concept inspired by BlayTheNinth's Minecraft TrashSlot. This is an independent Vintage Story implementation.

> if you autopickup an item, it might endup stright in the trash bin! Ofc, it happens only if trash is empty.
Behavior is the same for me.
terraria
It's a genius idea, I needed it so much.
however, there is one issue - the game treats trash as an inventory slot and if you autopickup an item, it might endup stright in the trash bin! Ofc, it happens only if trash is empty.
This is kinda hilarious, I can finally roleplay as Trash Panda, but still
Oooh, I think it is due to the last update that I've released.
Before the update, when loading the world, the item in the trash slot was dropped to the feet of the player.
You can always rollback to v1.0.0
I mean, at least I ASSUME this is the bug, have to look into it.
I MISSED THIS MOD SO MUCH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
<3
I had an item pickup go straight to the trash slot when the inventory and hotbar were full. :O
the trashcan in the thumbnail makes it look like it says trash slut (great mod though super useful)
LOL, I appreciate the comment!
thought the same
This might be what convinced me to install it...
awesome, I'll check this out -- have been looking for something like this but other mods w/ similar function seemed to have server/client desync issues, which it sounds like you've designed yours to avoid. Thanks!
Thank you for commenting! I really appreciate it!
Tell me if you find any bugs or things to improve.
Many hugs!
