@Ojao While I enjoy the theory of these tools, are the iron (and even steel) tools meant to be only of tier 3, the same as the bronze variants?

yes I dont want it to be a a better replacement for vanilla tools, i think this way the vanilla tools are still relevant in gameplay, but if you have any suggetstions on how to work that better hit me up

a Buddy of mine has added a Compat for Meteoric Steel into the mod file itself, he's working on making a compat for Improved Metallurgy Right now and Metals of myth! Would you like him to send you the finished modfile over to you via discord when he's done? @Ojao

Great work! I might have also found a very slight incompatibility issue with xSkill. I made an iron Axe-pick, then I successfully quenched it and improved the quality of it thanks to my skillpoints in Metalworking and the Blacksmith skill, but as soon as I used the F menu to swap to the other mode, it defaulted and brought it down to the unquenched durability. NBD, but I thought y'all should know!

Hey, that is probably because xSkills changes how the stats are stored. The code I use simply copies and pastes the stats from one JSON to another when using the F menu.

I would have to take a better look at how xSkills works to make it compatible, but I'm not sure if that's within my capabilities, I'm still pretty new to modding and coding, so I can't promise compatibility anytime soon, sorry!

If anybody wants to make a compatibility patch, just leave a comment and I'll add you to the mod.

Ojao compat with saltys immersive mining would be pretty cool

I think it works out of the box (at least the two tools I tried so far). Seems to use Vanilla Tags for Tools.

Yeah, the tool's functionality uses only vanilla code. The only thing I added is the behaviors that swap the JSONs for the axe and pick variants and copy the stats from one to the other.

i have a suggestions for the cost
given these are bigger tools than vanilla, the material cost could be somewhere around an ingot and some extra to two whole. smithing plus has a "dynamic mold units" configurations that reflects how much material is used in a recipe when smithing. following a similar process, given the work items are compatible with smithing+ and a lot of people use that mod, you could make it more flexible, regarding size and material
