edit: Okay so given it's been over a week now and there's been 250 downloads and not a single bug report,
i'm gonna ASSUME this mod is functioning exactly as intended. i'm going to see if i can get beehive kiln color changing before i do a
full release but, at the moment I think this is probably safe for your servers and saves.
backing your stuff up is still always a good idea you should be doing that anyway with any new mod you install.
THIS IS AN ALPHA.
BACK UP THE SAVES OF ANY WORLD YOU ADD THIS TO.
This is my attempt at a freeform clay system that uses the clayforming system to make raw clay sculptures,
that, when fired, are converted into a vanilla chiseled block using the equivelant ceramic block materials.
You can use multiple types of clay in a single sculpture!
Due to being vanilla chiseled blocks, the fired end result should be compatible with any mods that affect chiseling,
and the end results will also survive the mod being removed (but not while it's still raw).
Currently supports dyed clay added by Clayworks.
Please test and let me know any issues you run into!
Also tell me if there's any other custom clay from mods I can add support for.

Never fired so many d*cks in my life. Thank you for this masterpiece mod! 10/10
Do items formed and fired using this mod give pottery XP from the xSkills Mod?
i dunno? i don't use that mod. that's probably a question for the xskills modder.
One of the first mods I ever tried to make was exactly this and I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. Rock on!
Only just now tried this mod and I'm already loving it.
let me know if you find any issues! though considering it's had so many downloads so far and zero reported issues, hopefully it's working just fine...
i have not had the time to extensively test it myself in full modded playthroughs thus me uploading it for y'all to test for me :)
After some testing in my creative workshop, I understand some things about the mod: (Not issues, just limits I noticed.)
There is a limit of 63 voxels plus the 1 voxel the item needs to exist (ex. a solid 4x4x4 voxel cube) that can be removed by chisel without losing them. (I'm not sure if I can see the spare voxel count normally or if it's Extra Info doing it.) Any voxels over the limit are lost if removed by chisel after firing. (A solid, full block is 4,096 total voxels.) A messege saying to add more material pops up when you try to go over the limit when chiseling.
A different clay added to the item during the forming phase always has 0 spare voxels no matter how many the original clay has. So, if the secondary clay voxels are chiseld off, they cannot be readded.
Adding a new material using the chisel menu only allows you to add from the new material and does not increase the limit of the original clay.
I found no issue using this with QP Chisel Tools and don't see there being any issue with other chisel mods.
I really enjoy using this mod and plan to use this in my modded playthrough. Great job.
any plans to make it possible to make custom shaped and colored utility items such as bowls and pots?
oh that is a whole other beast entirely. that seems more like a job for chisel tools, and as the end result is vanilla chisel blocks, should be perfectly compatible. might want to ask them.
I've been waiting for this!
thank you! such a cute idea. wintertime hobby ^.^
finding this like 5 minutes ago as i was looking for new mods for my pottery-based playthrough is just.. peak, thankyou. Looking forward to this mod's development!
does this respect the beehive kiln's door states? can i have my cream ceramic baby?
no it does not. i might investigate doing this later but for now it's a simple conversion to ceramic
This is incredible enough on it's own, but now I'm wondering if the resulting ceramic chisel blocks will 'work' with the decorative blocks from QP's Chisel Tools.
the end fired result should work with anything chisel related as they are just vanilla chisel blocks verbatim!
by god....you actually did it...and they said it couldnt be done...
