WarState Lite

WarState Lite is a lightweight claim based war system for Vintage Story servers. It gives group owners a controlled way to declare wars without allowing unrestricted base destruction.

The mod is designed as a temporary lite version of the full WarState system while the larger war and treaty mod is still in development.

Built for controlled group wars

• Declare war from one group to another
• Require defender acceptance before war begins
• Use land claims to decide where war damage is valid
• Include claims owned by actual group members only
• Ignore unrelated shared shop or guest claims
• Limit damage to approved raid targets
• End wars through banner destruction or concession

During an accepted war, damage is limited to specific targets only.

All other blocks remain protected. Walls, floors, machines, workshops, roads, decorations, and normal structures are not valid war damage targets.

Claim-based territory

WarState Lite links war damage to land claims so players can clearly understand where war rules apply.

For each group, the mod uses claims owned by current members of that group. Claims that are merely shared with the group are not counted. This prevents public shops, trade buildings, allies, guests, or temporary shared claims from being pulled into a war by accident.

War Banner

WarState Lite includes a custom two block high War Banner. It is designed to fit the Vintage Story style with a wooden pole base and cloth banner section.

• Destroying the enemy banner ends the war
• Winner is announced server-wide

/wslite declare <group>
Declares war on another group.
Group owner only.

/wslite accept <group>
Accepts a pending war declaration.

/wslite concede <group>
Concedes an active war and declares the other group the winner.

Reloads claim and group territory data.

Performance-friendly design

WarState Lite is built for servers that already run many mods and need the war system to stay light.

• Damage checks only happen when a player attempts a relevant block action

Recommended use

WarState Lite is best used as a simple objective based war system for servers that want limited group conflict while keeping normal land claim protection intact.

Note: WarState Lite is intentionally limited. It does not implement the full WarState project, diplomacy systems, treaties, or advanced nation mechanics planned for the larger mod.
