A Fork of Immersive Rope Crafting until Dio gets back and updates it for 1.22 himself.

New update :

1.1.0

Changed modConfig loading so it doesnt override deleted lines

if you dont want a type of fiber to be used for rope braiding , just remove it and it wont reappear !

Please delete your modconfig to pull the propper strinsense support with all values

1.0.9 If string sense is installed and you dont have a modconfig for this mod yet, it will generate the recommended config for stringsense

You ever wanted to sit with your bros, braiding rope by the fire, talking about whatever? Well now you can!

How to Start Braiding Rope:

This mod allows you to craft rope in world by first Shift Right-clicking a fiber source item onto a loose stone on the ground.

Fiber Sources:

Each fiber source has a specific amount of fiber they contribute to the rope. You can add fiber sources to an unfinished rope but Right-clicking the block with the item you want to add in your hand. The following are currently implemented fiber sources:

  • dry grass => 2 fiber.
  • thatch => 4 fiber.
  • cattails => 10 fiber.
  • wildvine => 15 fiber.
  • flax fibers => 2 fiber.
  • flax twine => 8 fiber.

In total you need 32 fiber to make a single rope. The values are made so that crafting rope this way requires less materials than if crafted in the grid.

This translates to the following amount per rope:

  • 16 dry grass
  • 8 thatch
  • 4 cattails
  • 2 wildvines
  • 16 flax fibers
  • 4 flax twine

You can mix any kind of fiber onto the same rope, but adding an item with more fiber than is required to reach 32 fiber will waste the unused fiber.

Braiding the Rope:

To create a finished rope item, you must braid the rope on the ground. To do this, the unfinished rope must have enough fiber to complete a step of braiding, and you must Right-click with an empty hand and with nothing in your offhand.

By default a rope takes 16 braiding actions to be completed and each action takes 1 second. You can complete an action in half the time if you are sitting down.

You can change this in the config file located in ModConfig/ImmersiveRopeConfig.json to change the amount of seconds it takes to complete a braiding action ("secondsPerAction") and how many actions it takes to complete a rope item ("totalSectionsPerRope"). You can only choose from 32, 16, 8 and 4 actions per rope, or the default 16 is used instead. You also can't change the amount of seconds to a value larger than 10 seconds or else the default 1 second is used instead.

There is also an option to disable grid recipes for crafting rope ("disableVannilaRopeRecipes"), but this is not enabled by default.

I tested this new version (very briefly) on my linux server instance and confirmed it appears to work as expected, at least with just myself connected to the server.  We'll try some more with more than one player so but far so good. Thanks!

Does not work on dedicated server

Amberforge, Jun 10th at 10:32 AM (modified Jun 10th at 10:00 PM)

I tried the new version that should have server loading fixed, and it loads now fine. But we are experiencing issues with it still.

A non-server-owner player cannot braid rope, cannot make a new crafting spot and cannot add fiber as if the placed crafting spot did not exist for them. If they still try to braid it, the client crashes to desktop, giving this error

I have no idea why, but this fork doesn't work on my local server. Tried single player, it works. Genned a new local server world only with this mod and connected through the client, and it doesn't. No errors in the logs. I'm on Linux.

Maybe it was just me and my client cache was messing up. I can try again later with new update unless someone alse runs into this issue as well

@SilverValkyrie: did you run the server with an old version of rope crafting or is there a config file for the server generated ?

Sorry cant send atm. But my error looked the same as theirs. I did run the previous version before hand. I deleted cache and config before restarting server and got crash on load. There was half made rope on the ground before update. Is that why?

I did not have older configs (clean mod install today) and it was a fresh world with no older save data and it was tested in both directions between the two computers and looked repeatable

I spoke too soon. I seen no crashes. But now that I'm actually trying it out  I cant even start the rope making process. Tried with mixed and reed cord. (string sense)

what does the modconfig say you can use ? can you try deleting the modconfig and letting it regenerate ?

@SilverValkyrie: what does the modconfig say you can use ? can you try deleting the modconfig and letting it regenerate ?

I did delete the config and let new one form. The changes I make are the same as the original mod. changed to 2 seconds per action/ 32 sections per rope, and disabled grid recipe
the modconfig says I can use all the string sense cord

The only update I can get to work is 1.0.10. To elaborate I am on hosted dedicated server. I only am trying with cord because its all I got. But in 1.0.10 I can use all cord and it works great. (yes I had to add mixed cord line with that config) but when I update beyond this patch it no longer works for me even after deleting the cache and config folders

also heads up my friend can now use the crafting grid to craft rope even though disabling the recipe is set to true. Will remove this mod till its in better working order

Nubbs, Jun 19th at 7:10 PM
@SilverValkyrie: Life is currently a bit overwheling , i will hit you up after i fix it properly

No worries! Modding is supposed to be fun. do it at your pace. There may even be something on my end messing it up. I can help any way just ask if there is some things you need tested. It will get sorted eventually. Dont burn yourself out though

Potato_Spud, Jun 5th at 7:22 PM (modified Jun 5th at 7:23 PM)

Is there any way to make this compatible with string sense? Like 3 or 4(probably 4) cords are needed to craft one rope using the braiding system?

I just saw the 1.0.9 patch notes

Potato_Spud, Jun 5th at 11:40 PM
@SilverValkyrie: normally that would be in the config but i made it easier for users hehe

when I looked at the configs you were missing the mixed cord, I added it to my own configs though. Also can I add the original config to increase the fiber limit? Or will that crash the fork?

BraniyaKz, Jun 6th at 9:14 AM

I would just change the numbers one by one, in your case. The string sense config sets certain values to zero, which causes the rope to infinitely eat your materials.

oh damn forgot about that since i only copied the config that was set on the string sense mod page, Potato_Spud 1.1.0 will have a config with endless fiber limit

I reuploaded the 1.0.9, are you using an auto updater ? it might have not pulled the newest patch so 1.0.10 should fix it for launchers

SilverValkyrie , Jun 5th at 7:35 AM

New update :

If string sense is installed and you dont have a modconfig for this mod yet, it will generate the recommended config for stringsense

BraniyaKz, Jun 5th at 6:10 AM (modified Jun 5th at 6:25 AM)

SilverValkyrie - There is a bug that causes the rope section to infinitely eat all your materials. Might not want to hold right click with your grass, and pay attention to the tooltip, for those who see this.

I've just found out why. I copied String Sense values into the config, which have alot of things set to 0. Instead of disreguarding the entries entirely, the rope is consuming these items instead, for free.

Deleting regular values from the config seems to just make the config regen those on restart, even though they've been removed. Needs a look into, I think.

Hope this helps.

this was how it worked on the original mod as well. did you rteset your config or did you copy it from string sense since they have the 0 values

I copied the stringsense values to a fresh config.

I wasn't playing with string sense in 1.21, which is why i never noticed. I never set any values to 0 back then, and there's no way to get rid of the entries, as they just regenerate on launch.
