Convert an existing encased axle to a chiseled block, or use a chisel block with a wrench to incase an axle.

Encase an axle, then carve the block around it however you like. The shaft stays visible and the mechanical power still works

Because the carved block is a real chiseled block under the hood, you get the entire vanilla chisel toolset - every mode, every size, rotation, and multiple materials in the same block. (So it should work with QPs)

What you can do

  • Carve a live axle. Encase an axle in any block, then chisel it
  • Use the full chisel. Modes, sizes, rotation and multi-material, exactly like a normal chiseled block.
  • Slap a finished design onto an axle. Hold a pre-chiseled block, wrench in the offhand, shift/ctrl right-click the axle
  • Get your stuff back. Break it and both the chiseled block and the axle drop.
  • See the shaft. The wooden axle shows through wherever you carve it open.

How to use it

  1. Place an axle and connect it to power.
  2. Wrench in the offhand, a block in your main hand — sprint + right-click the axle to encase it.
  3. Grab your chisel (hammer in the offhand) and carve. The axle never stops spinning.

Shortcut: hold a pre-chiseled block in step 2 to stamp that shape straight onto the axle.

Requirements: Vintage Story 1.22 · no config · works with the base-game wrench, mechanical power and chiseling · universal (client + server).

Please report issues in the comments.

(Small bug where the encasement block visually lags for a moment before being replaced with the chiseled work block)

Trying to place cobblestone chiseled block onto moving axle but it says not suitable material. I tried with a chiseled debarked log and same thing

I tried to install it and got a warning saying the mod wanted game version 1.20.x.  I wasn't sure if it would work so I uninstalled it.  Has anyone else had this warning pop up in the mod manager menu?

I've had a problem with getting blocks on the axles since 1.22 came out, idk what causing it. Would it be possible to add a block thats already combined with an axle like shown in the image for the mod that we can recolor it if theres a problem like im having? Or something kinda like the decorative blocks in QP's chisle.

Great mod mate, and good for you getting ai to help with the mod - my results when trying to use ai were jank. Keep up the good work! Unfortunately, I'm having no success with this mod using 1.21.6, I've tried a variety of different blocks and slabs and they refuse to occupy the same space.

Your description says only 1.22, but the file link says 1.20 to 1.22.3. Which is correct? I really want this to work for 1.21.7.

Hello,

is it possible to create a mod for rocker hammers to close the wall and just drill a hole for the lever?

I've also been wanting to use Archimedes' screws to pull objects out from the top for a while now.

I saw a screenshot a while back, but I never saw if it was a mod or not, and if it was even possible.

It would save a huge amount of space.

or force them out from the bottom, just the items that have already been processed

Thanks for this mod. But your game dependencies are 1.20 in the modinfo

This is perfect timing, I ran into this problem in vanilla just yesterday.

the worst feeling ever when you see a great mod concept and then an "AI was used to make this" at the bottom

I can't wait for the ai bubble to pop either. But if someone wants to use AI to make a badass mod im still gonna use the mod. It's not like it's a corporation using AI to get over on us. Just a dude getting some extra help to make his idea come to fruition. Seriously it's not that big of a deal and I wish people would get over this nonsense already.

So screw a great idea because someone used help. The lack of logic blows my mind considering AI has been used in all forms of professional music since 1957. lol

I don't consider AI coding assistants to be in the same category as image generators or other AI slop.

You know ai is in everything you use, even this very website uses it. Shitting on AI just cause it was mentioned is stupid and ignorant, plenty of helpful ai models that have programmers have used in all skill levels.

Dude you don't need to return soon. Don't you have anything better to do than commenting every mod pages about AI? You are everywhere we got it you don't like AI maybe go touch some grass
