SIMPLE WATER TWEAKS

🌊

A simple mod to modify the game's vanilla water

Real-time customizable, shader-friendly water and visual modifications.

About the Mod

Simple Water Tweaks gives you complete real-time control over the visual aesthetics of all water surfaces, fine-tuning colors and waves to match your preferred shader.

Features

🎮 Real-time Configuration: Press "P" for the in-game UI. Save settings, reset defaults, 3 configuration tabs.
📦 For UI ImGui is required

Compatibility & Integrations

This mod works perfectly with Coriaender shaders.
For Vintage Shading Reglued, Rivers, Vintage Shaders polish and Sheydermod, you'll need the VSR patch
Currently incompatible with Optitime (Combine it with other shaders to avoid problems with Optitime.
Incompatible with any mod that overrides (liquid n opaque) main shaders.  The VSR patch might help with that, but it hasn't been tested with all shaders mods.

Custom Wave System

The Waves tab is purely experimental, so be careful. I've added some presets so you don't have to adjust the sliders too much.

If you want to adjust the settings manually, use the sliders:
Shape
Motion speed & optics
Sparkles

Is there any way to rebind the key to pop up the settings? It's not listed in my game controls for some reason

@LonesomeWanderer: Is there any way to rebind the key to pop up the settings? It's not listed in my game controls for some reason

Remember to have imgui installed
I'll add an option to rebind soon

Savrs, Jul 26th at 9:52 AM

Thank you. Everything works now. I was missing this additional mod.

@Savrs: For some reason, the hotkey for opening the settings isn't working for me. Maybe you could make it use the ctrl modifier?

It's possible that another mod is using that key.
Or you don't have imgui installed

I'll check to see if it's possible to change which key opens the menu.

I'm working with shaderpatcheslib to avoid future conflicts between new and old mods, so that the VSR patch won't be necessary in the future either, but because of my real life job, I'll only be working on this on the weekends.

Hello, from the description, I understand that this mod is not compatible with Seamless Rapids mod as it modifies rapid water textures,
but I'd like to ask if your mod has got a similar functionality regarding vanilla game rapids? When a single or multiple water rapid blocks are right next to regular water blocks (common issue when using Rivers  or Algernon's Watersheds), you can clearly see an unnatural and weird color difference between water blocks, It's very well shown on the Seamless Rapids mod page.
So does your mod address this issue?
Also great work!

Yes, my mod uses the same texture for both fast and normal speeds, and it also has several profiles and presets so you can choose the one that looks most natural to you.
Use my other mod called “Simple Water Tweaks VSR Patch.” This patch enables my mod to work with other shaders and some overrides (not all)

Willcario, Jul 9th at 3:04 PM

Is this compatible with SheyderMod? aka, shey's shaders?

NeoB , Jul 10th at 4:05 AM (modified Jul 12th at 4:41 PM)

vsr will help with that

@NeoB: vsr will help with that

I've run some tests, and it works fine if you have the VSR patch enabled

Robot_With_A_Hat, Jul 8th at 4:37 AM

Great mod! However my main gripe with this is that I find the caustics a bit too aggressive and I wish there was an option to tone down the speed.

I've been thinking about it for a while. In fact, I was going to add a slider for speed and brightness, but I've put it off because my job doesn't leave me much time. I'll see what I can do this weekend, in fact, I'll see if I can add a tab for caustic presets, just like with the waves.

Mod inflated my log to almost 200MB by spamming this line:

Jesus, let me take a look and see, what OS are you using?
And what preset do you use?

Edit: I've linked swt_shallowColor correctly; the problem should be fixed now. Thanks for letting me know.

How do I make it look less like a grid?

NeoB , Jun 30th at 11:41 PM (modified Jun 30th at 11:42 PM)
@Hiran: How do I make it look less like a grid?

Press P and, in the waves tab, choose the water preset you like best and adjust it using the sliders below. Not all wave profiles work the same way; I'll remove some of them eventually.
If you just want the color adjust and want Coriaender to handle the waves, choose the profile called “calma.”

Version 0.11 released
Please give it a try and let me know how it performs and if you encounter any bugs or incompatibilities with other mods

ahh ok ty

@DemsenDK: ahh ok ty

I'll see what I can do, although it seems to depend on what the creator of Optimine does

If you combine this mod with Coriaender Shaders Optitime, it won't disable it.

it still dosent work for some reason? i tried removing coriaender shaders, optitime and farseer still didnt work, but i did look in the log right now and there i saw it keeps saying:

[Warning] [SimpleWaterTweaks] SendUniforms excepcion: The given key 'swt_shallowColor' was not present in the dictionary.

is it very performance heavy like a shaders or nah

NeoB , Jun 19th at 4:39 PM (modified Jun 19th at 5:08 PM)
@Petrosine: is it very performance heavy like a shaders or nah

Not at all, I've already tested it with and without mods. Its resource usage is minimal because I only use ChunckLiquid. the slowdown comes from the shaders and custom terrain mods.

NeoB  Greetings!  I'm seeing an odd lighting glitch that produces a white sheen in falling or stepping water.  It's especially noticeable underground or at night.

I have this same problem, exact same textures etc. I came here wondering if it was an issue with realistic water compatibility
