(Now with flasks and shot cups for users of the SlowTox mod)
(Now with broken bottles; an excellent digestif for the uncivil houseguest)
// Mod Info //
- Bottles: 4L, Cups: 1L, Flasks: 0.5L, Shot cups: 0.1L
- Labelled bottles are made using corked bottles, parchment, and a painting of your choosing (the painting is not consumed when crafting).
- Corked and labelled bottles can be placed on scroll racks and shelves, open top bottles cannot.
- Broken bottles can be made with open or corked bottles, anytime, anywhere. They have more reach than a club, can be thrown in a pinch, but have low durability.
- Bottles can be uncorked and de-labelled with a knife in the crafting grid.
- Works with: Hydrate or Diedrate, Shelf Obsessed, Simple Pottery Wheel
- ***No AI was, is, or ever shall be used in the development of this mod.***
// Possible future content //
- Glass bottles and cups
- The ability to throw bottles ✔️
- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(suggestions are welcome)

If corking decreased spoil rate, that would be amazing. We so desperately need a solution for long journeys in hydrate or diedrate. :(
I second that corking should extend the shelf life of whatever is inside. Especially when there is a barrel storage option in the food storage mod that extends it.
Would adding compatibility with the shelves from culinary artillery be possible?
do you think vintage canvas paintings would work with the bottles? that way we could make custom labels!
Maybe! Depends on how the mod stores custom painting data
...could you add a config to enable 'crafting' broken bottles by hitting an object with a bottle in hand for RP reasons?
It's a great idea, and what I would've prefered, but heres the problem; all liquid containers in vintage story count as "blocks" and so do not take damage the way a tool would, which count as "items". Theres no way to effect a change "with" or "on" a block in hand, unless it is a specially coded type of block (such as a torch) being used on another block (a lit torch) (both of which have dedicated C# code to function).
Smashing a bottle on a table would require completely new code, not impossible but more than JSON content modding, and would require either tacking on block-based code onto an item, or making a dedicated blocktype that could be shift-right-clicked on a surface to transform it into an item. So maybe just a bit more than a config ;)
If I ever start messing with C# I'll use this comment as a jumping off point for the idea.
Been using this, love this mod and exactly what I wanted for my liquids.
As a side note, the bottles look great on the base game shelves! But shouldn't they use up both slots on the shelf, like a metal ingot does? It's not a big deal, just something minor for future consideration.
Thanks for the positive feedback! I'm currently looking into this
Would it be possible to show contents and freshness of bottles in scroll racks? And excellent work, I initially just downloaded for the shot glasses for my whiskey with SlowTox but now I'm planning on making a little wine cellar full of perry and blueberry wine. Thanks for the mod!
I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the mod! I'll look into it as Ive noticed it myself, it might be tied to the code of the scroll racks in which case I'll need to take the plunge and learn C#
you should add flavor text the claymaking recipes like vanilla ones have ong ong
I've added some minor flavour-text to the bottles and the broken bottle for now, will likely add some more later
thanks for the mod. really needed this for my tea and juice....and maybe achohal
Is anyone else having issues fitting the 4L bottle in their cornhole?
Will add a greased variant in the next patch.
do you think this would work with shelf obsessed? ( https://mods.vintagestory.at/shelfobsessed )
i mean i don't see why it couldn't..
There is now compatibilty with shelf obsessed thanks to the gracious people of unHallowed :)
There is now ShelfObsessed compatibility!
thank you! :D
Apologies for the number of patch updates. This should be the last one for a while, just wanted to clean up the handbook crafting entries, and add a 4x bottle clayforming recipe.
Glass bottles would be soooooo peak!
Does using a bottle with a cork prolong the shelf life of the contents compared to having it in a barrel?
Right now no, the bottles fuction just like vanilla liquid vessels so theres no loss or prolonging of shelf life.
But its certainly a feature I'd like to add in a future update once I start dipping my toes into C#.
i really do love this but there's some odd stretching in the labelled bottle textures, maybe simplify the labels to lower res with specialized textures? otherwise this is peak
Thanks for the input! bottle labels have been re-sized and re-textured to reduce stretching. I also went ahead and made a few other changes I felt were necessary.
is there a list of all the liquid container unit volumes? e.g. are they all equivalent to bowls, or are they smaller?
Container volumes are now 1L for cups and 4L for the bottles to encourage using the latter for storage.
awesome! if you end up doing smaller glass containers, slowtox users would love small glasses like 0.5L or 0.25L, and these bottles are so shapely i just can't resist
Seconding the desire for smaller containers! The Bricklayers cups currently hold 0.4 L which is handy for slowtox. Other small drink containers would be helpful as well, especially even smaller ones as even 0.4 L gets you pretty drunk. Looking forward to playing with these, they look great!
The GOAT himself!
I'm not overly familar with slowtox atm so I'll give it a quick playthrough to get a better idea of what the demands would be first 👍
Aww <3
Basically slowtox makes the alcohol come on slower and last a while, and aside from the squiggly drunk effects it can also give slight buffs, but if you drink too much, you get debuffs instead (and can die of alcohol poisoning). So the smaller amount you can drink at once, the more control you have over the effects. Currently in vanilla I think the smallest amount you can drink at once is 1 L due to the size of containers including bowls, but with Bricklayers you can do 0.4 L. Honestly I'd love an even smaller option. Maybe a shot glass or something for 0.1 L. 😆
I recommend trying Slowtox anyway, it makes alcohol actually useful! 🍻
The funniest part about that SecretFox, is that I literally told him to make shot glasses in voice call. Glad we're on the same page!
0.5L flasks and 0.1L shot cups have been added! The flasks come with a corked variant for extra class
