Did you know those "black berries" you commonly find in the American Midwest aren't actually blackberries at all? Their flavor and shape are different! Black raspberries have a hollow center, like normal raspberries, while blackberries do not have a hollow center. The more you know!
What does this mod do?
This mod adds black raspberry bushes (Melanobatus michiganus Greene) and their respective fruit to the game. The bushes follow the 1.22.2 attribute and cutting system. You can use black raspberries in all applications you could use regular berries in.
In game, black raspberries grow in colder temperate climates, along forest edges.
If Expanded Foods or any of the EF modules are installed, you will be able to use black raspberries as you would any other fruit in the mod. Full compatibility.
If Maketeaforked is installed, you can get even more functionality out of berry bushes. Instead of dropping plant debris, they will drop a new item, black raspberry leaves, which can be used to brew tea! (Just like real life)
If Hydrateordiedrate is installed, you will gain hydration from eating the berries and drinking the tea.
If Biomes is installed, you may find black raspberry bushes in the Atlantic Nearctic.

As an Illinoisian I feel obliged to at least give this mod a shot.
I'm also not sure what mod would best exemplify us like this does Michiganders... Fields and Plateaus? Any of the mods that add in corn? Vanilla already has pumpkins...
Not sure why, but I'm getting this error that seems to disable the black raspberry bushes!

Strange, I don't get that error on my server. Since I have no way of knowing what is causing it without a log, try reinstalling the mod using the most up-to-date version.
Please add support for the Biomes mod!

Never heard of that mod. On quick check, looks like the recipes work with the wine. I think a lang file is missing though. Nothing gamebreaking, it'll work, just with a funky name for now. I'll add that in the next update, I'm actively working on Expanded Foods compatibility ATM.
Man, Expanded Foods sucks right now. There was some golden moment where ACA wasn't causing issues with MN + ACA compat, but ever since ACA dev.17 the compat patch prints errors about something being missing.
Pushed the update. Let me know if you see anything strange, I genuinely don't use that mod in my usual play so I don't exactly know the edge cases.
as another person who uses variations on a meal (many reasons I don't use aca honestly, not that there's anything wrong with it just not for my server), appreciate the consideration! Thank you so much for making this btw, as a Yooper who's favorite fruit is Black Rasp, it's an instant classic before the maketea compat

Why are you expressing it using Greene's taxonomy? It's a rubus through and through.
They're actually synonyms. I like the Michigan one expotentially better. I would kill to defend the Michigan one, even. I would start an entire country in the name of Michiganus, if you are so inclined. Believe it or not? I would even colonize different planets in the name of-
It's not the michiganus part that aggravates me, it's the "Melanobatus" part. In the Greene taxonomy system it's a different genus from raspberries, Batidea, which is just wrong... By all means, call the species Michiganus, but the genus is and will always be Rubus.

(they also grow natively where i live in quebec, i have one in my yard that i found growing under our patio one day. it's my child. it gave me a first harvest of 3 berries last year)
