What does this mod do?

This mod alters the vanilla worldgen numbers in landforms.json. This means it changes world generation without adding code or additional files. It turns the world into a fantasy realm inspired by ones such as Middle Earth and the Forgotten Realms.

This mod is compatible with all mods except for those that alter landforms.json. It is compatible with favourites such as Rivers, Watersheds, Better Ruins, Geology Additions, and more.

This mod is NOT compatible with World of Fortune. It is a 'sibling' mod in the same vein.

This mod is NOT compatible with existing worlds and will cause major discrepancies at chunk borders.

What can I expect?

A large variety of terrain, with much more variety in land height.

Interesting and inspiring features of all sizes and types inspired by high fantasy.

Buildable areas in every type of terrain, with some areas being very suited to building (flat and open) and others requiring much more work.

Mountains will be more difficult to cross, but easier to go around.

All story locations will generate without issue.

Recommended Settings

Landcover: 40-80%

Landcover scale: 100 to 400%

Landform scale: 150-200%

Upheaval rate: 0-20%

World height: default

Simple and stunning- damn, I'm gonna have to remake my Draconis world for this one! I've been missing the oddity of fantasy worlds, this is perfect.

I really mean this as a compliment, looking at the terrain in the trailer made me realize there was something i really missed from minecraft. I'm a sucker for realistic landscapes, but I gotta admit, I miss the whimsiness of minecraft terrain generation and I think this mod could scratch that itch. Might try adapting to 512 height if that's ok

Feel free to edit the mod as much as you wish to get it working with 512 height! If it ends up being something you like, we can publish it here together for other 512 world height players.

Is this compatable with Continental World? (https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/21831

Looking at the mod folder, it doesn't modify landforms.json, and if the code doesn't either, then yes, it should be compatible.

Is it known to work with Watersheds/Rivers?

I've been having issues with Rivers/Watersheds, some chunks are 'sheared' along the middle of 2 chunks between what looks like two different terrain gen types. It's rare however.

Does this mod allow for large and common oceans? Im currently using the Worlds of Fortune one and the oceans are large but not super common like id like. Maybe im just terrible at world gen settings. I have land cover at like .4, oceanscale at 1.25, and lanform scale at 1.5.

Land cover at .4 and scale 1.25 will give you frequent oceans, but if they're not big enough, try testing an ocean scale (landcover scale in settings) of anywhere from 200% or 400% on a test world and see if that's closer to what you want. If they're not frequent enough, keep the scale similar but change the land cover to .3.

Tides of Fortune (which uses World of Fortune) uses the same settings as you currently do, and our ocean is continuous/unbroken, with 'continents' being anywhere from 3-10k wide/long, and ocean channels being similarly sized. If you bumped scale to 200%, then that would easily jump to 5-20k wide continents and oceans.

Whether you use vanilla, World of Fortune, or Vistas Beyond shouldn't change this by much.

Ok yeah. I spent like a actual half a day messing with settings. Kept getting one big ocean and then literally no more oceans to be found. Do you know of a way to have smallish "continents" and large oceans with islands? I have a really cool boat mod i want to make use of lmao.

In that case, maybe try a smaller landcover scale. The continents on ToF take up to an irl hour to sail around, so if you cut the scale to 75% or 50%, that should mean you can sail around a continent in 15 to 20 minutes. So in total, I'd go for

Landcover: 30%
Landcover scale: 50%
Global deposit spawn rate: 150% (to compensate for lack of land)

And the rest as you desire. Hope that results in something that fits what you're looking for!

Those caverns are seriously impressive

if a 512 version of this ever gets made I'd def use this with watersheds. Looks really good

Freaking cool!
