This is a fork of VS Kingdom by BadRabbit49. All credit for the original design, code, and concept goes to BadRabbit49 — this fork exists to keep the mod alive, fix bugs, and continue the roadmap.
This project was originally an attempt to add simple AI soldiers into the game which could serve to fight for players against other players — defending their bases, helping them attack others, and enabling large(-ish) scale battles between more combatants. It is still a W.I.P., so expect bugs and missing features.
Quick Start
Wage war. Type /kingdom commands to create, delete, invite, depart, and attack other kingdoms. Run /kingdom help or /culture help for the full list.
Recruit soldiers. Use the crafting recipes shown in the in-game handbook (search for Archer or Knight).
Anchor your forces. Craft and place an Outpost. Right-click it once with a soldier item to claim it, feed it fuel (firewood, charcoal, coke, lignite, bituminous coal, anthracite), then ignite it. The outpost serves as a respawn point, healing post, and rally beacon for your sentries.
Disclaimer
As stated above, this mod is very work-in-progress. While it should be safe to use on your current worlds, I strongly advise making a backup after testing the current version yourself for stability. It likely won't corrupt your world if removed or updated — but to be safe, read the comments and patchnotes before installing into a save you care about.
Planned Features
The groundwork is in place to grow this beyond a simple PvPvE wars system. On the roadmap:
- Kingdom Politics — territories, diplomacy, elections, privileges, and civil wars.
- Cultures — creation, divergence, splintering, land claims, and consistent skin / hair / block usage.
- Smarter AI — better-optimized soldier behaviors with more classes, including Medics and Scouts.
- Battlefield Tactics — soldier formations and the ability to knock down or destroy enemy fortifications, doors, and structures.
Compatibility
The mod aims to be compatible with most major content mods. Active compatibility focus:
- Maltiez’s Firearms
- Gerste’s VS Village
- Grifthegnome’s Outlaw Mod
- Zolgrim’s Swordz

So, doing some initial testing. I love this mod! But I've found a handful of minor..issues? Funny bugs? Not sure what to call them.
For one, friendly fire is definitely ON. Archer kept nailing a knight in the back of the head a few times fighting drifters. Kinda funny.
Two, shields entirely break animations. If a soldier is equipped with a shield, they are a static entity and have no attacking animations whatsoever. A single weapon is fine, but pair it with a shield? Uncanny statue.
Other than that, great mod! Just trying to do my part to bring to light some issues o7
Definitely not compatible with combat overhaul, won't let you place armor in there inventory and instantly crashes if you shift right click it onto them. Works good other than that which is a shame. Would be insane if it got combat overhaul compatibility
Anyone used this mod in a long term world can give a review if i should add it to my main world or not? In singleplayer
and rustbound magic (like for soldier to fight the enemies)
can you make this compatible with the fantasy creatures mod
Oh epic, Ancient Warfare from minecraft, but in VS
I can't figure out how to assign a soldier to my kingdom. Also I would suggest adding a wand that lets you command your soldiers to move to or attack a target.
