Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.22.0, potentially outdated):
notraderclaims.zip 1-click install
I really dislike the claim protection for VS traders. I think that being able to swipe a chest, lantern, storage vessel, or other items should be possible if you wish to play that way. I understand protecting the story locations, but I prefer to have access to the items given to trader locations. This mod now makes it so there are no claims at traders and everyone can access the items located at trader locations. This is just a basic JSON file edit, feel free to open up the zip file and examine the changes.
Important Notes:
*This only works on the vanilla game traders. If you have a mod added that adds more traders and using their own unique trader structures, you will need to directly mod the other mod or create a similar mod to this one to modify the trader structures added by that mod.
*If you are adding this to a save you have already been playing on, this will only change the protections for newly generated traders. Those that were already generated in the world will still have their claims. If you are in a single player world or the server admin, you can remove the claims by using this command: "/land adminfreehere". Thanks to ConspicuousTable for the reminder about this.
*If you need this for a version before 1.22, this will not work. The trader structures underwent some larger changes from 1.21, causing me to have to re-write my old personal mod for this. If there is enough desire for a version for 1.21, I will try to find and reupload that one as well. With this, I wanted to focus on the new version now that a stable full release version was available.
Author Note:
I originally created this for myself and for my personal server for family and friends. Sharing here because I figured there were others like me who would like to have this as an option. If you have an issue with this mod or it breaks, please tag me in the commends and include as much information as you can and I will do my best as I get time to troubleshoot. This should only stop working if the devs make a change to the trader structures in the main game files. I do ask for patience if updates are needed, I work full time and have very little down time to work on personal projects. And unfortunately, I am doing a lot of this through trial and error until I get things working.
You are free to download this mod and see how I accomplished this. There may even be a better way to do this, but this is how I finally managed to accomplish it without throwing errors in the log file. If you use my work as a basis to create your own work, I ask that you give me credit and link back to my original mod here.
Changelog:
Version 1.0.0: This is the original version, removes claim and allows use for all traders except the Treasure Hunter. Treasure Hunter is now treated as a story location.
Version 1.0.1: This version now includes the Treasure Hunter location as well. You can use either version 1.0.0 or 1.0.1 depending on if you would like to be able to have full access to Treasure Hunter location as well.

Hi DarthDaddy85,
Sorry, just saw your post (it only gives me a notification if you tag me). Do you mean this mod: https://mods.vintagestory.at/aculinaryartillery?
If you give me a few days to get around to it, I can try to update a compatibility patch for the Dev version to work with this mod for those who would be interested in it. I am only going to do the dev version as it is the only one listed for Vintage Story 1.22.X.
The other option would be to directly modify your copy of the mod (you would need to extract the files from the zip folder, modify the file found in "ACulinaryArtillery 1.2.5.zip\assets\aculinaryartillery\patches" (kitchenwaretraderspawn.json) or if using the dev version you need to edit the structures file located "aculinaryartillery-2.0.0-dev.22\assets\aculinaryartillery\worldgen"
change "buildProtected": true to "buildProtected": false
In the dev version, also change this setting:
"AllowUseEeveryone": false to "AllowUseEeveryone": true
The dev version has 2 of these listed, change this for both. One is for the one that will always spawn somewhat close to spawn, the other one is for the standard random spawn of this trader outpost.
After you make the change, save the file and then zip it back up and use your new zipped version instead of the original.
Did some attempts of trying to make a mod to change this without needing to change the original mod, but kept failing/getting errors. The easiest way (at least for now) is to extract the zip file, change the things i mentioned above, and zip it back up.
sooo glad I stumbled across this mod. It's going to be fun to... ahem, Strategically Transfer Equipment to Alternate Locations. Thanks for sharing this mod with the rest of us!!!
Glad you found it and will enjoy it. If you also are a bit of a hoarder/loot goblin, check out my other mod for Storage and Carry capacity overhaul.
Wytedragon Glad you found this and enjoy it. I am also a loot goblin (or a pillaging viking per se) and really wanted this functionality. A lot of other mods that give this as a option also either change/overwrite the default vanilla traders or expand on them and I just wanted something that the trader experience vanilla but allowed me to loot goblin my way through the world when it I was so inclined. If you find any issues, please let me know.
As a side note, if anyone would like a version of this that allows you to use the stuff at the traders (like you could in previous versions) but without the ability to rob the traders blind, let me know. If there is enough interest, I will create another version that provides that.
Thank you for this mod! I understand why they have the land claims for the traders, but the loot goblin side of me just wants to still all their stuff. It was nice being able to turn it off through the better traders mod, but I think that is gone now.
*CACKLES LIKE A MAD MAN WHILE RAIDING THE TRADERS*
Thank you I love this mod!
For anyone watching the comments for updates, I have updated to a new version that also includes the Treasure Hunter location.
Just a quick note for anyone grabbing this mod, have discovered that treasure hunter traders are still protected by the claims. After doing some digging, the reason is because they now treat the treasure hunter trader (and his location) as a storystructure instead of normal structure (all other trader locations are normal structures). So the changes I apply in my mod will not impact their locations. I will update so there is a version that also includes treasure hunters. This may take me a little bit of time to complete and test.
ConspicuousTable Thanks for adding that. I forgot to mention that this would not fix already generated traders, will edit to add a note.
Cheers for the mod, BetterTraders used to have a config option for this and I was really missing it
For people adding this part way through a save - traders generated before this mod will still be protected (I don't think there is a way for a mod to change this without removing claims entirely), use the chat command below while in the protected area.
