Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.21.0-pre.1 - 1.21.6 and 1.22.0-pre.1 - 1.22.0-rc.8, potentially outdated):

This is a fork of Fogless by Jeanphavko for no fog at all even at high altitudes. Someone asked so I made this let me know if any issues with farseer or CHUNKLOD, this mod was not something I originally planned on making but dont mind keeping it updated moving forward as requested by Jeanphavko. let me know if any issues and ill sort them out for you.

Crystal clear skies at every altitude. No more foggy mountain peaks.

What it does:

  • Removes all atmospheric fog and mist
  • Works across all altitude ranges (sea level to mountain peaks)
  • Clears fog in all weather conditions (clear, fair, cloudy, rain)
  • Zero performance impact (theme mod, no code execution)

Technical Details: Overrides vanilla weather.json to set fog density, mist density, and mist Y-position to zero across all weather patterns. Also sets global fog brightness to maximum.

Compatibility:

  • Universal (client/server)
  • Load order: After weather mods, before shader packs
  • Works with all biomes and weather systems

Credits:

  • Original concept: Jeanphavko (Fogless v1.0.2)
  • Extended altitude fix: Salem (FinalFrame Studios)

50 percent less fog, (FogTamer V2.0):

  • Lowers fog density so fog still appears just with lower values
  • This is still just a weather.json tweak and I set this one to client side only if anyone has any issues let me know

This is a tamer less FOGGY version, still has fog but you should be able to see a ways ahead of you now. Untested fully but was working for me pretty good let me know issues. Updated to ensure Client side only.

I am running this on 1.22.2 and it doesnt seem to be working? I have settled on a mountain top and the fog still comes in super dense like vanilla and I have to run the clearsky command to rid it otherwise it doesnt seem to eliminate it for me

Just for clarification, this isn't really a fork for Fogless, as it removes all fog?

its a fork in the sense that I got permission from the owner to continue it and work on issues going forward, but yes his does not remove all fog in all instances as this one does this was merely made on request of a few people on the Discord.

Newest Version doesn't seem to work in 1.21.6. I can download it but it keeps asking me to to download it when joining my server. even installing it manually says: already downloaded, will enable it. but that doesnt work either. Seems to be working with the previous version as of now.

SalemStyles Awesome! But the file says it is compatible up to 1.21.6? I am currently on 1.22.0-rc.8.

pngwn  ok sounds good give me a few to write up some shaders and patch it :)

Edit: I think i have something already had some of the volumetric fog shaders already made for a shader mod I am working on currently, hope this helps its in the files section. It was working for me if there is any issues send me your clientmain log I have not wrote the shaders so this is just json tweaking to see if it makes less? if not then ya shaders.

SalemStyles I would be interested in a version like you said, that tames the fog so I can still see a reasonable amount ahead, maybe 20-30 blocks, rather than the ultra-thick fog that only lets me see 2-3 blocks around me.

will add screen shots soon.

Jean mentioned doing a thinner less thick fog version too as well, would anyone be interested in that? that I imagine will probably be more patch based and have to mess with the fsh and vsh for fog I believe totally doable just let me know if anyone is interested in that?

have not actually tested on 1.22 but its just a json edit so should work on that as well let me know if not and ill fix it I did not plan to make this but helped a few people in the community so JeanPhavko told me to fork it and maintain it going forward.
