Email Trade

Email Trade adds a simple in-game mail system to Vintage Story, allowing players to send written messages to each other across the world.

Instead of needing to meet face to face, players can compose a message, choose a recipient, and send their mail through the system. The recipient can later open the mailbox, read incoming messages, and manage their inbox directly in-game.

This mod is intended to make long-distance communication more immersive and practical, especially on multiplayer servers. It works well for community interaction, roleplay, settlements, player-run services, and general communication between distant locations.

Features

  • Send written messages to other players
  • Add a subject and message body
  • Read received mail in an in-game inbox
  • Useful for multiplayer communication and roleplay
  • Designed to fit naturally into Vintage Story gameplay

Spaturno Yeah, I'm the same age, but the mod only serves to quickly send someone information even if the player is offline, which you can't do in the normal game, unfortunately.

it's more a phylosophical discussion than a technical one, I understand :)))

Magic_Oldie, yes.

> Or why would someone want emails to arrive later?

Because, if you know they'll take time, you'll think for more time about what to write, or how to reply. This leads to more deep and toughtful communication, lost in the era of instant messaging. I don't now how old are you, despite the nick. I'm ~50, and I have great memories of snail mail, that people born after 90's, when efficiency and speed are masters, will never experience. :)

If the purpose is just sending instant messages, yeah, I agree, it's pointless, and your mod is lovely as it is (though I'd love the drifter mailman idea, lol).
But, as an option, I think it could enrich your mod in more RP-intensive server. <3

Spaturno, Why? Do you miss the old days when you didn't always have the internet and couldn't check emails? Or why would someone want emails to arrive later? It's not the postal service! You can explain to me why you want it, maybe I’ll think about it again, but at the moment, I don’t see any reason for it.

Came here to ask the same question of NeoB, the drifter mailman would be awesome.
Btw congratz for the mod. Do you plan to include distance-based delay for the delivery, as an option?

Magic_Oldie , Mar 14th at 5:56 AM

NeoB, unfortunately no 🤣

NeoB, Mar 14th at 2:47 AM

Is the Drifter Mailman included?
