Recommended download (for Vintage Story 1.21.0 - 1.22.0-pre.4):

This doesn't work with the new version, I will update it when the new version of the game drops
In experimental mode, there are 3 search option in F9 menu,
1) normal mode where you see particles, adjust the slider to find the right balance for your system and preferences
2) we're testing right now and that will just drop a pin on your map and minimap whenever it detects a bit on the ground
3) additional particles if it's hard to see, don't use that, it is just a testing artifact.
Play with the slider, it will make a big difference and, please do report back and tell me if and what worked for you, what mode you prefer etc.

myhas Here's an experimental release to try, give it a shot and play with the sliders let me know if it works or how it works for you! The middle mmode in F9 will add to your map instead and there will be no particles. Thanks for sticking around :)
Critcher awesome :D Again, great idea for the mod, im looking forward to trying it out and seeing just how much ore i miss.
are you doing a spherical search instead of a flood fill from player position? ore bits usually sit on the ground outdoors. no need to look for them in the sky or underground where they are not visible. add a Y limit crawl and you have a much more efficient lookup method. also cache.
myhas Oh I see, I know exactly why and what, and I think the solution is to make a slider to adjust my detection distance, you can then adjust to your system. I apologize because you're right my current settings might be a big drain on more modest systems... I will fix this soon and report back with the fix! Thank you for the report :)
Cool idea but sadly lag spikes my game a lot, every two steps my character takes it almost skips a couple frames. I'm sure its this one because it only started when i added it to the world. Might be because of my mid hardware.. not sure.
Seriously try this, I made it for myself and it is a life changer
