This mod adds a single device to the game called the Surface Teleporter. It is an endgame item that has the following properties:
-If there are blocks above you, it teleports you to the highest point beneath the sky (teleport to surface).
-If you are already under the sky, it teleports you 300 blocks up.
-When used, it loses a charge but reappears in your inventory.
-It is charged with temporal gears.
It is especially useful for the following scenarios:
-You are running through the world on an elk when suddenly you plunge into a hole that goes straight to the depths itself. You (and especially your elk) are now stranded deep below the surface.
--Fear not! You whip our your handy Surface Teleporter, charge it with a temporal gear, activate it while sitting on your elk, and boom, you are back on the surface and safe.
-You are deep below the surface and completely lost. You have decided to turn on cave-ins and now mining back up is virtually impossible.
--Fear not! You whip our you Surface Teleporter and teleport back up to the surface.
-You got the glider. It is... not that good. Without an absurdly high tower to jump off, you can barely fly. Worse, the climb up these towers is excruciating and they don't look good either.
--Fear not! Stand with the sky directly above you, wearing your glider, activate the teleporter, and you will appear 300 blocks above, able to glide and explore large areas at the cost of temporal gears.
--WARNING: If you are not wearing the glider and you activate the teleporter while you're on the surface, you will 100% die. It is a 300 block drop.

-Block the use of this within story locations or The Devastation.
-Change the texture to differentiate it from the Base Return Teleporter.
-Consider adjusting the crafting recipe or temporal gear cost for balance.

I have no idea but it works now. Maybe something was screwy and I needed to restart my game or something but now when I shift-right click it works perfectly.
And yes first use I had my glider but tried to kiss a tree while flying. Did not turn out well...

FearXI Hmm, it should show up charged after crafting. Definitely try clicking it with a temporal gear, and then when it is placed on the ground, try just right-clicking it and it should activate. It works the same as the base-return teleporter functionality-wise (and looks identical too, I think).
Ok... I give up. How do you use this?
I did the Shift-Right click and nothing happens. I shift-right click and placed it down same results.
Does it need a charge? No clue I have no idea how to do that but I'd assume first craft it comes charged. Lol

FNXR I'll probably do this! Cupronickel is fairly endgame though, requiring coke and iron mining level. I'd like this device to become available around the same time as the elk (since it is borderline essential for getting the elk out of deep holes).
Nice idea, but if you want to balance it properly it should use some Jonas parts.
