If you use the SOURCE button: that is the full merged mod via Dropbox. (this is for those who want the full mod as a whole. and use a MOD MANAGER as the parts will NOT work in a mod manager due to the same mod id name, site name)
You do not need any of the split parts. -
If you install manually through the vanilla mod folder: use the split downloads / parts instead in the "Files" section.

Do not install SOURCE + the split parts together.
They are the same mod content, and using both is redundant. -
I have also included an optional SUPPORT download that only contains a small thank-you README.
This is not required for installation. It is only there for people who use the SOURCE download but still want to support the mod’s download count on this page. -

VS TrueScale 128 — PHASE 2: FULL HD
For Vintage Story 1.21.x
Hi 👋 I’m Salem — welcome to PHASE 2: FULL HD.
VS TrueScale 128 is a vanilla-faithful HD texture project for Vintage Story: 128px base resolution, with selective 256px hero textures where extra detail matters most.
The goal is simple: make Vintage Story feel cleaner, richer, and more detailed without changing its identity.

This is not a new art style pack.
It is meant to look like Vintage Story in HD, not a different game.
No Generative AI / No Prompt-Made Textures
This pack uses super-resolution upscaling, not prompt-based image generation.
Nothing here was made by typing prompts like “make me HD textures.”
I spent months building Python tools and training a custom .pth super-resolution model to upscale high-volume flat/basic textures while preserving vanilla structure. Anything identity-critical — art, patterns, masonry, small props, and sensitive details — is hand-redrawn and refined by me in Krita.
So to be clear:

This project is about preserving Vintage Story, not reinventing it.

The world, building blocks, and textures you see constantly.
Part 2 — ENTITIES + ENVIRONMENT (optional but recommended)
Creatures, player visuals, and environment textures.
Part 3 — ITEMS + LORE (optional enhancement)
Items and finishing textures that complete the set.

What’s New in PHASE 2
no more seams and tiling cleanup
PHASE 2 is the big cleanup pass: better alignment, better tiling, and a more polished result while staying vanilla-faithful.
Cleaner true-HD look
This update shifts away from the earlier painterly softness and moves toward a sharper, cleaner, more believable HD look.
More hand-made work
When I first released this project I was recovering from an accident, so automation had to carry more of the workload. I’m recovering now and can use art tools more again, which means many important assets have received manual redraw and refinement passes in Krita.
How This Pack Was Made
This pack was built using:

No scraped dataset soup. No prompt-generated textures.
This project took roughly 10 months of coding, training, testing, and hand work. It started as a long-term school project and became a real community pack.
Optional Environment Tints
At the bottom of the files list you will see VS True Tint this is a small code based mod that handles environment tinting a bit more dynamically it should read as greener grass in the spring and summer and die out a bit better towards the fall and winter seasons most nature as well let me know if it helps looks good or works for you. If you encounter any errors let me know and I will fix them best I can this is only hooking into the color map postition and some weather and climate settings to trigger the new locations on the color map.
Compatibility / Load Order
This mod uses a zzz_ prefix on purpose so it usually loads near the bottom of the list and overrides other texture packs more reliably.
If another texture pack still overrides TrueScale, rename this file with a few extra z’s, for example:
zzzz_...
If something looks wrong after updating, clear your cache in VintagestoryData and relaunch the game.
Grass Coverage Note
I’ve done my best on the HD grass textures, but some grass coverage issues are more about how the game renders and preloads vegetation than the textures themselves.
At the moment, I do not have a clean fix for that on my side.
m00n kindly allowed me to reference her mod as my personal top recommendation for improving grass coverage. I use it myself and think it helps a lot.

VS True Tint. I made a code based mod that dynamically controls the tint a bit better its greener in the spring and summer and begings to yellow and die closer to fall and winter mostly just adjusted placement on the color map and keyed it into environmental setttings. | |||||||

SalemStyles I am glad you guys caught the leak in advance. That's a bad day when people don't. I'm glad you are safe and i'm hoping you safe return. Thank you as well! And if you do make another version, thank you for that! I've been looking for a near faithful (slight upscale) to VS forever. I seriously cannot see a lot of the ore in granite stone LOL. It makes no sense! I often get back from a long adventure and then only notice I went through zinc or sphalarite!
Leraie I will make one special once I am back home and in my studio we currently have a gas leak so we cant go back till the weekend haha
This mod is a god send. do you have a 64x version? I really enjoy these textures because without it.. I can't tell Zinc ore in granite apart from normal granite....................................(seriously what the hell is that about lol)

Update, ORES** redid them with better textures and alpha settings. so they no longer read as blocky square cut out edges. this is just for now so its cleaner till I get around to them after plants for the total redraws. Part1A and the source dl is updated as well.

Hey friends I added a little code based DLL for tinting so its a bit more dynamic than vanilla it should read as green grass in spring and summer and a bit more dying as it goes fall and winter it works for me let me know if it works for you or any issues and ill fix them best I can. you are welcome to DELETE the "Environment" folder in the mod or just redownload part 2 as I took it out either or. but please use VS TrueTint at the bottom of the "Files Section top page" for game environment. Oh and I changed the colors again a bit more they were a little dreary someone in discord said it was a little sad in the rain so made it real but like not cartoon game colors.

I understand your point about separate Mod DB entries being easier for some mod managers and shared modlists. I’m not arguing that.
What I’m saying is that I asked about upload/page limits for this project, and I am not going to be able to even make or maintain multiple separate mod pages for this pack devs told me no to 200mb pages of the same mod.
So for this mod, the setup is simple:
If you use a mod manager, use the Source button / Dropbox download. That is the full merged mod as one file.
If you install manually through the vanilla mod folder, use the split parts.
Please do not install the Source download and the split parts together, because that is redundant.
I’ve explained the available install paths as clearly as I can, and I’m going to leave it there unless site policy changes.

The example I gave is much smaller file sizes, yes, of course they are. They are not reworking all the textures and upscaling them. You are focusing on the wrong part of the example.
If you split your mod, into multiple ID's, with each ID focussing on specific types of artwork, the file size would be a lot smaller per mod ID. You would not be hitting 200mb on each one.
As it is now, your Source is roughly 500mb utilizing a standard .zip compression.
In the future, once you are finished doing all the work, it would not be hard to split it up into smaller, manageable chunks.

I wasn't talking about your naming convention.. it's about having multiple mod IDs wich a modlist manager can reference..... Changing the name of your files doesn't change the Mod I.D.

"37980" is the I.D.
ALL parts of your upload correspond to that I.D., irregardless of what you name your file. ALL mod managers reference that MOD ID to manage the mod. See Image for example. I have the source installed manually, so ignore that for this demonstration. Pay attention to the other entry. I can only choose ONE SINGLE VERSION of your mod ID "37980".
I know you already do alot of work for your mod, which is a great piece of artwork that I truly enjoy.
Just wanted to shine some light on the headache it is to share it with others more easily.

I have geology additions which adds a bunch of new rock types. That's the main one.

NecrosxYT do you have anything that changes the rocks but ya thats definately an atlas bleed all rocks kinda get grouped together in the atlas but thats probs better than coral if want I can still make the small pack for ya in the future if its ever game breaking for you.

No, I'm not talking about not being able to install it. I'm talking about the fact that your mod uses MULTIPLE files from ONE mod I.D. (this page, we are talking on right now)
Other mod authors, that have larger mods, which are downloaded in stages use more than one MOD I.D. to allow managers to keep ALL parts updated without needing to use a SOURCE manually.
The one click install works great wether you have your mod on one page, or more. You can split your mod into multiple parts and update each part separately, which means you keep the simple single click install but also gain the ability to have mod managers keep ALL parts updated and also allows for MODLISTS to share all parts of your mod easily.
As an example: Look at Electrical Progressive. They have 5 Parts that you can install separately or together and they all function as a set and each part has it's own MOD I.D.. The number at the end of the link is the MOD I.D. number associated with each part.

All parts of YOUR mod share the same I.D. If you broke it up and made different entries for each part, keeping your mod up to date with a Mod Manager is much easier.
Like I said before, you don't need to do this until you are done with your busy work, and have time to break it down into manageable chunks. One chunk could be for Clutter, One for Soils and Rocks, one for Trees and Flowers etc etc.

SalemStyles you managed to catch me right as I was getting ready for bed. Firing up the game to give it a test and I'll edit this once Im done.
Edit: It's no longer coral. It's stone. The edges are dark, and the top has a couple different colours. But hey, the textures are right, I think, other than the colouring! Yellow, red, and dark/greenish.
NecrosxYT oh and it has new quern overlays let me know if this helps if not then its something in the massively giant list hahaha I would still be down to make a smaller pack for ya would take me like probs an hour to render it all smaller? let me know but all goods haha
Major update is NOW OUT!!!! this will be the last update for awhile as the textures part of things are about as far as I can humanly push them detail and atlas size wise, all files and SOURCE have been updated once again, "source button" is the full main all together merged mod if you are using mod organizer or any tool to manage your mods you need the SOURCE full version as mod organizers can not do the parts as they are same mod id.
The parts are for one click ease of access for normal vanilla mod folder users. Next update will be a major one as im now switching to objects and the sprites for things to make them realistic versions of themselves IE things like plants. this will take me a few months I imagine and thanks to anyone who uses my mod feel free to send some screen shots of your builds and ill feature them in the show case :)
If there is ANY SEAMS OR ISSUES please let me know I was almost a week late on the update just to make sure I addressed them all agedbrick is as best i could do some are like a tiny bit off and its mostly a color shift difference but should line up. thank you everyone so much for the patience and for the support in making this. :) if anyone wants something specific redone realistic in the meantime while I tackle plants let me know and ill drop a mini update ;)
MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR PLEASE READ.... IF YOU ARE UPDATING PLEASE CLEAR CACHE IN VINTAGESTORYDATA FOLDER or none of the new textures will take hold and as always make sure to adjust atlast size to the 16 k size listed above in description or well this mod will not work at all.

It's okay though, you dont need to make something just for me. My mod list is constantly updating as I find things that tweak the game the way I want it. Or if I get fed up and decide to merge things for compatibility's sake or something. I'd feel bad if you went through the work to make custom stuff, only for it to be obsolite the next day cuz I cant help but tweak and update.
Still, I appreciate all you've done, and Im looking forward to the continued progress of your texture pack. Still loving it, even with the coral quern top. =P
NecrosxYT you maniac lol ok sorry got called into a seus chef interview had to leave update is almost done one tiny cobblestone problem its easy drystone was the real issue and pain in the butt. but just go back to the 16 its more stable and will be fine if the update and clear cache and configs doesnt help then ill make the 128 mod just for you that will also have like smaller sized items and like object as those are minor but lots of them so could get away with smaller details sizes on those ones.

Edit - Doubled my TextureAtlas to 32768 and it still gives me coral sadly. Funnily enough the quern seems to be the only thing that has his problem.
BulletJustice are you talking about how vanilla reads them is it being the same mod id not gonna let vanilla folder and set up read them as stated you have to hit the source button at the top to get the big fully merged and together mod as one file? if you are using a mod manager this is the way to do it as those seperate files were meant for people who do not use a mod manager and want the one click install? if using a mod manager HIT "source" beside the file button. at the top of the page it will bring you to my drop box where you can download the entire mod merged and packaged as a single mod. if thats what you mean? I did update and hoped to have cleared that up but if you are using a mod manager you will NOT be able to download those as a pack you need the drop box download from hitting the source button at the top of the page. I would wait an hour till I drop in my major update here :) this is split up only because there is a set size limit to how big a dl can be on mod db thats why the many parts. If mod manager hit source for the ONE merged file mod.
NecrosxYT PHEEEEW WHISTLE* that is some list friend ok well I can not claim to even begin to go through what could be causing it there is a lot of block type mods in there i can see that could effect atlas size that being said you have to remember that anything that adds any new textures is gonna increase the atlas size so if there is too many things crammed into one then it could cause in some cases bleed. depending on your hardware you MIGHT be able to get away with a high atlas size but like thats pushing it so my one guess I could say is maybe some mods add all new textures and its increasing the atlas size ? mine already does take up a big portion of it i set to sane levels but that being said some are hero blocks at 256 sizes i could if it would help make an all 128 pack that doesnt have those hero blocks and that would give you more atlas space? let me make you a custom version im all done the update just dealing with a few stone artifacts left in from edge lock its now perfectly seamless but ya some mortor got crisscrossy I know im so far behind from when i wanted this out but want it to be perfect as next updates will be full redraws in krita for plants and objects items armor etc so thats months worths of projects so I want to get this best i can for this stage. But ya ill make you an all 128 for you :) hope it helps but you do have quite a few mods that add items so that is my strongest guess is bleed from too many kids on the playground (atlas) but ya we are now using the 16 k atlas size as I added the hero blocks so the size was needed this is not too big an issue as im running it totally fine on a potato haha but some graphics cards might idk but im on a potato so. if back to 8 k try switching back to 16 k size and clear cache again? idk but next update is out soon and ill post in chat a link to a special 128 just for you :)

This does not work very well when using Profiles in mod manager program like Simple VS Mod Manager. The mod folders are organized dynamically, based on the mods that you add to the modlist for that active profile, and loaded AFTER initializing the profile that you want to load for that game session.
While yes, if you manually install to each dynamically created folder POST initialization, you can get all parts in there, but when publishing a modlist with your creation in it, it breaks because the mod manager doesn't understand how to handle it, meaning there is a lot more involved when trying to share a modlist with your creation included.
Just posting this to make sure you are aware of the problem with the way you are publishing the parts on a single Mod entry, even though you are breaking the mod into multiple distribution chunks. Perhaps once you are done making lots of edits, you will be able to properly parse them into separate Mod listings for ease of sharing down the road?

NecrosxYT that is an extensive list send me a few problem childs and ill test them myself see if I get the same issue and ya it was like that for me and only when grinding but cache clear modconfig clear and moddata clear solved it for me it could be a config as well needs a refresher but careful if you have specific configs you set yourself then might cause you to lose some saved stuff uhm my only other guess is an overlay issues or if you have that many mods just ensure in the list mine is at the very bottom add like a bunch more zzzzz to it? sorry for delay on update maybe the new overlays will solve it. but its def an atlas bleed is anyone else having quern issues with this mod?
SalemStyles I think I might have one or two old texture mods still in my collection from before I found this mod.
I'll give them a purge, clear the cache, and try again. Nothing that effects the quern as far as I know though. And it's specifically only the top of the quern that changes into coral for me, and only when it's grinding. The rest of the quern is just fine.

Edit: Correction, the following mods might effect the quern: Linseed Oils for Tools (grind up pulp in the quern), Extra Info (Getting extra info about the state of the quern), Geology Addons (Extra quern recipes), Temporal Doctor (Grind things up in the quern), Vanilla Variants (Decorative Querns?), Knapster (Allows modifying whether or not to hold the mouse down, and the speed of the quern)
No change after removing Opine Upon Pine, and clearing the cache.
Edit 2: Would mods that add extra things add to it too? Cuz if so... Im running quite a few mods... Almost 500.

I will look into this more that did happen to me tho its an atlas overcrossing into it and usually ya its the quern I will be releasing a new update here soon as well are you by chance running any other types of texture mods oh even anything that effects the functions of the quern could also hurt it but ill look into the overlay as well that too could cause an issue I did redo all the overlays so it is possible its a mismatched overlay size. thanks for the update and I am on it like sonic. just dealing with drystones and making them seamless as well its the most busy ones and tedious to do.

@NecrosxYT it did do that for me to clearing my cache in vintagestorydata helped but to my knowledge it isnt happening to me anymore after I did that one thing uhm I would ask for specs but im on a potato geforce 1060 laptop gpu from ten years ago so unsure if its a vram thing unless your on even more of a potato than my potato? try clearing cache in your vintagestorydata folder :) mine was going to brick when that glitch happened to me its a bleed from another atlas but clearing cache solved it for me

When using the Quern, the texture of the grind wheel changes. Mostly to coral. And I have adjusted the TextureAtlas as instructed.
Update is probs tomorrow this wildcard wall issue is a puzzle and the higher HD and textures I got the more likely hood of seams I have it 90 percent solved just hashing out the final bits.
RzRTelhalm oh cool he makes good vids do you know the title ? just seen it that is so cool wait till he sees this next version i actually fixed a bunch of things he mentioned actually hahaha ok im like 95 percent done this next major update it does address many issues and tons of new realism I have basically trained and pushed my SR about as far as I think it can go if these get any more realistic they will be 3d. So that being said this will be the last major mod update i will be putting out as this touches on every single in game item with brand new realism haha the only things left to do is to make plants and entiites realistic. that will be a lengthy process ill release in smaller updates along the way. but few more hours and it will be fully online and my hope is that i finally fixed the seams the realistic textures mismatching colors caused its not shape its color haha it tried to be too creative had to tone it back and set up safe guards.

Loomis360 i update them all together so all versions are the same across its a pain in the butt but it ensures the same across all versions and the big drop box one is the one i usually update first and foremost so its always going to be the most up to date as its the one i personally use as well :) also one more major big update i discovered some cool things and how to get my thing to actually do a bit better of a job on the SR make it more real stage of things its minor but the last update was pretty detail huge as far as it goes but stone currently has a few seams its not the shape or pattern its the color I have a new test coming out to fix this with edge locking and color guards issue is when you make HD you also have to deal with possibilities of colors and seams showing its a battle every time i update this to better graphichs to more I retrain and tweak this thing hahaha thanks for the patience tho this next update is gonna be the last big one for a bit till I redo like a big chunk of plants by hand to proper realistic versions. give me like 3 hrs ??? I am just putting polishing touches to new stone textures.I could update the version in the title of the drop box name if that makes it clearer like version numbers etc? might be a good thing to add ill do that in the next update :)

Frame rate is perfect on my PC. I get the odd stutter now and then, but I had that even before adding this mod.

I am serverely adhd and have other mods im making that need to like keep swapping in and out load orders so that is a remnant of me mucking about but ill keep it consistent moving forward that is a very reasonable request :)
Question how is the tint and colors of the world that mod addition is new I was personally thinking about leaning a bit more green as rn its kind of got a COLD effect on it and yes thats just literally me hitting the "cool" setting on it haha but i can make it more traditional dark green that was what i was leaning to do on next update im doing vines again better holes and uhm probs gonna crack into more leaves its just a tedious copy paste rotation job for making the leaves so im doing them kind of as I go along is there anything you want in game to be made more HD plants? I am learning model shapes so if you want new items that will be in the future when i learn more haha rn texture stuff im also redoing alot of my animals textures I found out a few cool tools running things via a few automated batch mid run diffisuion runs to enhance texture detail and alpha preservation. But I can always do more custom textures for tools armor and that type of stuff keep in mind if have armor requests that is me literally reworking a tiny template so will take time :) and ill add it as an armor patch ;) wanna give out custom things here and there to the lovely people who use my mod if I can sounds like a fun endevour I am personally making this for my own play throughs so it seems fair I add cool things for other people using it for their own playthroughs :)
This is going to sound like a silly request most likely, but could you keep the zip name consistent on the source file so that it can easily be overwritten? Noticed the number of z's has changed between editions. If it's not feasible no worries, just wanted to request my personal thoughts on the matter.

also I am not very good at making videos but if anyone wants to make a clip or send screen shots of their builds ill put it in the slideshow :) I would love to see what people are making with the new looks :)
PHASE 2 Update — Plants, Hair, SR Tuning, and World Tints 🌿✨
New update is live!
What changed:
Ferns redone (fern tree still working on)
Grass redone (from the last patch)
Some leaves + wildvine updated (wildvine may get another go at it for better randomness and connection look more natural gaps and holes the ones currently are a test so I could look at where i want holes will finish this weekend properly.)
SR model re-tuned with higher-res reference sets for better wood grain/bark and crisper stone hero blocks (256)
World tint overhaul (BIG CHANGE): This one was a huge bunch of trial and error to get to work so if anything is off let me know and ill adjust it but I personally think it looks good tad bit more natural less game looking world.
I pushed the environment look toward a more desolate / apocalypse tone (less happy green, less vanilla yellow).
If that’s too much, just delete the
Environmentfolder from the mod to revert to vanilla.After changes, clear cache in
VintagestoryData.Work in progress / next up:
Trader carts: still working toward better seam consistency (VS uses a lot of mixed pieces, so it’s a puzzle)
Animals: next focus is chicken/rooster textures (I’m mapping the model/template so feathers land correctly)

BulletJustice if using mod manager your best bet is to just hit source at the top there and get the full pack as a whole and add it to your folder as one item the parts are for people who want to add it using the one click install :) hope that helps i use mod manager 2 so its mostly for people who use vanilla mod folder route also due to size restriction I had to download it as seperate parts it works with vanilla mod folder layout but not any manager type app. I use the one mega file it is quite large I do apologize also updated the readme to hopefully be clearer on when people have mod orginizer to use the source button at top and get the whole mod via drop box.
