mulching_1.0.1.zip  1-click install

Purpose

Mulching is one of the easiest and widely used techniques to improve yield, soil quality and retain moisture. While finds dating back at least 2500 years exist humankind has probably mulched their crops since the neolithicum more than 8000 years ago.

It's benefits can't be overstated:

Mulches conserve the soil moisture, enhance the nutrients status of soil, control the erosion losses, suppress the weeds in crop plants, and remove the residual effects of pesticides, fertilizers, and heavy metals.

Iqbal, R., Raza, M.A.S., Valipour, M. et al. Potential agricultural and environmental benefits of mulches—a review

Usage

Right click farmland with dry grass to add mulch. Multiple layers increase the effect. It decays over time.

Grass Amount Moisture Loss Reduction
1 25%
2 50%
3 75%

Mulching does not affect fertilizers, it just retains the moisture longer.

Deinstallation

You should be able to just deactive the mod and applied mulch should be gone without affecting the soil anymore.

would love a 1.22 verson <3 as it doesnt function in it

It would be easier to just download the mod and test it out for myself but how does this affect the usual farm setup with farmland surounding a water source block? Does the moisture level of those farmland go past 80% due to the reduced loss in evaporation?

excited to use this mod

Hey HenrykRycken, yes, fertilizers can still be applied and should be unaffected by mulch. Both visual overlays will still be applied, however the fertilizer might be a bit harder to spot.

HenrykRycken, Nov 9th 2025 at 4:48 AM

Does this mod play well with the fertilizer already in game?
