ColoredBrigandine_1.3.0.zip 1-click install
Description
Requires Combat Overhaul and Wearable Render Library
Allows you to customise your Steel Brigandine armor, changing the color of the leather.
To create these, craft your existing Steel Brigandine with a sewing kit and the colour of leather you want to change to. The decision is not final, and you can change colour again using the same recipe if desired.
This uses the Combat Overhaul versions of the brigandine armor sets, and will not work for vanilla.
This is currently only supported for Steel Brigandine, specifically. I do not currently plan to expand this to the lower-tier brigandine sets, as in the server I play on, Steel Brigandine is the only one used. Adding extra textures for the lower tiers would balloon the size of the installed textures, for no purpose. If this is highly requested, I may create that as a separate mod.
Also compatibile with:
- Combat Overhaul: Armory (adds colored versions of the individual armor pieces)
Known Issues
- The recipe for changing the color of existing armor pieces displays in the handbook as needing the armor to be already-colored. This is a visual bug, that's not required. The recipe will change any color of brigandine to the color you want
- Combining colored parts from Combat Overhaul: Armory will not result in a final end-product. Output of such a combination will always be default brown color, and will need to be re-modified to your desired color using the customization recipes
What about Tailored Brigandine mod?
A very similar mod to add colored versions of brigandine already exists here. That mod is excellent, I have no intentions of replacing it. I also happen to think that mod's textures are nicer than mine! There were a few reasons I made my own mod, rather than using that existing one:
- Tailored Brigandine does not support all colors of leather, I wanted to add support for all 10 non-brown colors
- Tailored Brigandine cannot be mix-and-matched, the legs take precedence and color the other pieces. This mod does not have that bug, you can mix-and-match them
- Tailored Brigandine does not have support for the individual armor pieces from Combat Overhaul: Armory, which I wanted to support
- I wanted the different brig colors to have identical stats and behaviour to normal brigandine, not to be a different item with different bonuses etc. The approach I took should also be more performant, in theory, as it doesn't add any new item types
- I run a large modpack with a lot of textures already, and need to be careful about how many additional textures I add. I didn't want to add extra textures for low-tier armors like Copper or Bronze Brigandine, as they would never be used. Thus this mod only adds colored versions for Steel
So this mod is suitable if you want a performant mod that only touches Steel Brigandine, specifically. If those performance considerations don't matter to you, or you want non-Steel versions, I cannot recommend Tailored Brigandine enough, it's excellent. It has prettier textures, novel balancing compared to vanilla, and more sensible recipes compared to this mod.

I'm not sure if anyones mentioned it before but this mod is causing the ui of normal vanialla armors to be off center in the handbook. This was in 1.21.1 though so not your fault.
Version 1.2.0 released, which adds support for Combat Overhaul: Armory. You can now customize the individual pieces of armor like hands, feet, legs, etc, if you want finer-grained customization.
