"Before the calamity. Before the rot set in. Before the Blackguards and the Forlorn Hope marched.
There was an age of wealth and power — master craftsmen forged blades fit for kings, knights grew fat on coin and blood, women wove their own webs of influence, and lords ruled with iron hands.
Wars raged in the name of the king, calling the boldest and the strongest to seize glory — or die chasing it.
That meant every blacksmith, craftsman, and worker strove to give their best. The most skilled members of the guilds approached the status of scholars and devoted their entire lives to perfecting the crafts they were so deeply committed to.
In these times, armors of unquestionable quality appeared, forged with techniques that only the greatest of masters could replicate.
All of this, of course, is now lost to time.
What remains are a few forgotten scrolls, passed down through generations scarred by hardship and suffering, now left to rot on dust-choked shelves and in the deepest shadows of abandoned strongholds.
Only a handful of these schematics survived the devastating scourge of rot, scattered across the broken world — waiting to be unearthed, claimed, and brought back to glory!
The forge of excellence and perfection awaits you — step forward, and let your hands reignite the flame that shapes destiny."

This series of mods aims to introduce historically inspired armors into the game.
This one is dedicated to the Crusades.
Armors added by this mod are somewhat improved versions of the vanilla items, which serve as the base for crafting these modded armors.
Templars and Crusaders needed to survive long and treatcherous journey and not die of overheating or starvation. It didnt matter that much about speed, but durability and stamina was everything. This is reflected in the armor stats.
You will, as always need a specific schematic, which can be found in newly generated ruins or may appear at the Treasure Trader (Useful traders compatible) once he restocks after you install this mod.
Due to the rarity of these schematics, their price won’t exactly be a bargain.
Anyway, this one is a bigger one so i expect some errors to pop up somewhere — let me know if you find some.
I’m aware that the recipes are VERY expensive, and that’s intentional — these armors represent very late-game technology. On the bright side, once crafted, the armor is easy to maintain.
All feedback is welcome too, and the availability of this armor in survival mode can be rebalanced in the future if there’s enough pushback.
latest version v1.2.1
You are welcome to toss a coin to your local blacksmith if you would ever wish to!
Hope you enjoy!

From the Memoirs of Grandmagister Cardinalis Thomas IX. The Pure
[Scene: The forge. Smoke and fire swirl like the breath of some great metal dragon.
At the center of the workshop stands a towering, fully-plated armor, adorned
with a crimson cross on the chest. Heavy. Majestic. Intimidating. Thomas stares at it in stunned silence
before slowly turning to his master.]
Thomas (slowly, baffled):
Master…
Is that… a Templar armor?
Master Eldred (proudly, with reverence):
Indeed, Thomas!
The Templar reborn!
Is she not glorious? Is she not the embodiment of divine will cast in steel?
Thomas (confused):
But… master…
Templars haven’t existed for— I mean… it’s been nearly three centuries since the last Crusade!
They never even had plate armor like this.
Mostly mail, some lamellar, gambesons…
Master Eldred (his face slowly twisting into a volcanic storm):
Exactly, Thomas.
And THAT is why they are GONE!
Thomas (hesitantly):
Because… they didn’t wear plate?
Master Eldred (exploding with furious conviction, waving his arms like a prophet on fire):
YES!
Do you think it was politics?
The heresy trials?
The Papal betrayal?
NO!
They simply didn’t have enough PLATE!
Steel and chain are salvation, boy!
Lamellar? Wooden shingles for the campfire!
Gambeson? Cloth for peasants and poultry!
Thomas (raising an eyebrow):
Master… I think history might disagree—
Master Eldred (interrupting, fully possessed):
History is written by the survivors, Thomas!
And the survivors wore PLATE!
[He storms over to the plated greaves, caressing them almost lovingly.]
Master Eldred (now nearly hysterical with passion):
Imagine it, Thomas!
If they had this during the Siege of Acre — Saracen arrows would’ve sung harmlessly off these perfect curves!
Mamluk blades would’ve screeched in despair as they slid from these divine angles!
The Holy Land would STILL be in Christian hands!
The very course of history — rewritten by metallurgy!
Thomas (carefully, half-intrigued, half-amused):
So you believe that the entire fall of the Templar Order…
was just… a lack of sufficient metallurgy?
Master Eldred (wildly brandishing a hammer):
OF COURSE!
Steel, Thomas! The Great Equalizer!
You see weakness.
I see the antidote!
No gambeson could repel a war arrow.
But THIS? This turns arrows into raindrops!
Sword blows into gentle taps!
Axes into polite knocks on the door of God!
THIS is how the Templars should have marched!
No fragile oaths of poverty — only fortresses of iron on horseback!
Thomas (after a pause, chuckling):
Master… you’re inventing alternate medieval history.
Master Eldred (laughs like a mad prophet):
History is for scribes, Thomas.
We are blacksmiths.
We write in iron and fire!
Thomas (after a moment of thought, gently):
But master…
Won’t some people want, you know… the historically accurate versions?
The chainmail?
Maybe some scale armor?
Something lighter for the reenactors?
[Master Eldred stares at him. A long, tense silence. The forge seems to hold its breath.]
Master Eldred (slowly, theatrically solemn):
Very well, Thomas.
We shall forge their precious accuracy.
Their mail.
Their ... scales.
But only so that when they see this,
—they understand what could have been.
The glorious, impossible perfection they never reached.
The Templar Ascended.
Thomas (grinning):
Deal, master.
Though… I think I’ll pass on wearing the full plate at the next fair.
I rather enjoy being able to sit down.
Master Eldred (laughs like a thunder god):
Sitting is for the unarmored, Thomas!
[They both burst into laughter. A hammer rings out on an anvil. In the background, the bellows roar. Another masterpiece is complete.]

Have you thought on doing conquistador like armors?
Soma1700 Im open to it, first i want to pay attention to the European Armors but otherwise, sky is a limit!
Would you consider making samurai style armors or maybe even mongolian styles?
These models are increadible and I'd love to see these cultures added.
Anotzibartschad
Sure thing, Thanks for the praise!
So in general, AI makes me assets that i put together in Gimp.
Greenwich helmet, Templar Helmet and the backgroud
are all midjourney. I just cut them out of the generated picture, rescaled to 128x128, patched them up myself so they look less janky and then scaled them up to 480x480 so i get more pixely pixel art that fits the "modicon" size requirements.
The Gothic helmet
i actually drew the base myself! I just used ChatGPT for shadows and simulate sort of lighting effect (my base version looks like 4year old made it) and it did a darn good job, made it look much more 3D and "realistic".
The text
is made in an online tool that has a bunch of pixel fonts so i choose the one that i liked.
And the banners
are free assets that i found on the internet.
You make the best armor, and just general equipment mods in the game's history. I wanted to know what AI techniques do you use to make the thumbnails, or at least what model do you use.
Beautiful armors. For me It would be cool to see some Byzantine style armors. In game lamellar armor seems dull.
Your armor mods look incredible
This mod is insane...
Cant wait for Combat Overhaul patches
LunaGore Fixed, thanks.
Typo in the mod title "fogoten"
Dskater84 Im no expert on history. I just try to get loosely inspired by it but also not go too crazy with fantasy touches. Trying just to add a little bit of coolness. To my knowledge, Crusaders and templars never really wore full plate armor, so this one is total fabrication, skirt idea is actually from Dragon Age: Origins templar armor. And the seal on the pauldron is 100% Warhamer TBH.
So some artistic fantasy touches here and there.
DeanBro Thank you! Ill add it right now. I will look on to the schematic placement in later updates, thanks for suggestion.
AladarCZ Hi, I have made a translation for your mod.
I would also like to ask if you could make it possible to place schematic on the bookshelf?
Do you do any sort of historical research with actual armour or do you inspire yourself from generic armour in video games? I'm asking because i have never seen a skirt like that, in images 3 and 4 and i'm curios where you got it from.
Oh my god, these are absolutely stunning! Im also waiting for CO patch, but damn. I think these are the best modded armor sets here
WaterDayMyDudes Not yet, however, compat. mod is comming soon!
Yes.
Is this one already compatible with Combat Overhaul?
Just wondering :3
