Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.20.0-pre.0 - 1.22.2, potentially outdated):
glassroof1.2.1.zip 1-click install
I was trying to make a greenhouse for my bees but I was struggling to make somethign that looked nice so I looked up what real greenhouses look like. It turns out most greenhosues have slanted roofs make of glass. There is unfortunetly no slanted glass in the base game and msot of the builds I saw got around this with clever use of chiseling and support beams which seemed a bit much for me personaly, so instead I made this mod not relizing that it'd be wayy more effort.
I added most roof varaints with the noteable exeption of the inner and outer corrner blocks. They have been chalenging to implement but after a breakthrough I can confidently say they are on the way :)
I also added some extra variants that are more similar to base game roofs in shape so that the roof can be flush with walls while also allowing the roofs to look like panes of glass in most instances, some of these are a bit more expensive than their base game counterparts because I couldn't find another way to make their recipies that wouldn't disrupt the rest of the mod's recipe parity with base game. There are also multiple types of roof ridges because both a full top corner and a noched top corner seemed usefull.
All in all I am quite happy with this dispite it not being what I expected my first mod to be. I leared a lot, I think it looks good and I'm reasonably certan that someone else will find some use in it.
If you find any bugs or please report them on the fourm for this mod and I'll try to see aobout fixing them.
I would also love to see any builds you make with this mod so please send screenshots to the fourm :)

Fixed a bug with the sound atributes of glacier ice roofs that caused the game to crash. Fixed incorrect name for left and right glass slab glass roofs. Fixed impoper texture for the slanted ridges with slabs. Removed unused elelemts in the shape file for left half glaicer ice roof that was causing warning messages in the logs. Thank you GaelCrash and kindle_ for reporting these problems.

Added full cornered versions of the ridge top roof's they take the place of the old ridges in crafting recipies but can be crafted into the old ridges, should be safe to use in old worlds. fFxed texture scaling and removed most mixels.
| 1.1.0 | glassroof | 2527 | Jul 18th 2025 at 4:59 AM | glassroof1.1.0.zip | 1-click install | ||
|
-Added glacier ice roof blocks: [base, half left, half right, top]. - Most types of roofs avalible in glass are not represented in glacier ice because the lack of a frame made it immposible to hide badly overlapping textures the way I did with glass roofs. -Added glaicer ice slabs. -fixed issue with glass roof bottom shape - Removed sleek door recipe. -I had left a recipe from a modding tutorial in the mod by mistake. -Edited block names for parity with base game. -I removed spaces that were accedentaly included before each name and capitlized the first letter of each name
Known issues: -something is wrong with how the added glaicer ice blocks render which makes the borders between ice blocks exessivly visible, i will be asking around the modding discord to hopefully resolve the issue
| 1.0.1 | glassroof | 556 | Jul 6th 2025 at 6:38 AM | glassroof1.0.1.zip | 1-click install | ||

It should be compatable with some versions before 1.20.12 but that's the version I made it for and I have not tried it with any others.

Any chance we could get corner pieces?
ZenithDaWuff yes, that was actually the origonal intened use case :)
Maybe this is a silly question, but are all of these blocks airtight and work for greenhouse roofs?
Suggestion, could you try to integrate features from another extra roofing mod that's been abandoned?
https://mods.vintagestory.at/moreroofing
You're probably the best person for the job. All other roofing mods on the site completely rewrite the building system instead of sticking to roofing blocks, and many players are simply not interested in such a major change of the game just for extra materials.
Thank you for making this awsome mod!
I would like to point out that glass roof slab left and right need to have their inventory display models swaped... it looks like their crafting recipes need to be swaped aswell.
CKitt it was because there were three Bugfixes i wanted to do. After each one I though I was out of time for the moment, and did not know when I would get around to fixing the rest. After fixing the next bugs I felt that incremnting the version number was unsensible esspecaly as it seemed unlikely that anyone had even seen the partial bug fixes.
Why were there (at least) three versions of 1.2.1?
GaelCrash kindle_
Tysm you telling me about these, they seem like easy fixes so you can probobly expect a patch sometime next week. :)

Also the mod seems to throw a lot of errors into the log like:
"[Error] Missing mapping for texture code #color during shape tesselation of block glassroof:roofhalfleftice-north-free using shape glassroof:block/slanted-half-left-ice, or one of its alternates"
lying_dice Thanks for this mod! Mostly works great and the recipes make sense. I've only used it briefly with 1.21.5 but I love it for my upcoming greenhouse builds.
I found two mistakes you might consider correcting. First the plain glass slab left and slab right versions of the slanted roofing recipes produce the opposite block; the name, orientation of the recipe and 3d model all show the opposite of what's actually created. And the plain glass roof ridge has a blue glass panel at the bottom, see picture below.

Thanks again!
@Grevill
it should absoutley work for 1.21.1 and probobly quite a bit earlier. It is a json mod and it does not rely on any partitcilarly new assets/features so it should be safe top use pretty far back. :)
Have you considered making this mod work with One Roof? I think that could be an amazing mix if something like that were possible!
If ur looking for ideas to expand the mod, grow tunnels look cool, but nothing ever looks good/compact in block games.
Would this work with game version 1.21.1? We're still using that due to other mods not yet updated.
MishkaSnep THanks for telling me this i'll fix it rn :)
lying_dice
Are you planning a 1.21.5 update?
Seems the mod has an error on the glacial ice roofing blocks (Thanks Vinter_Nacht for finding it <3)

Yeah feel free to dm me on discord! @brun1621

I'm really glad you're girlfrend likes the mod! I also happen to have the "buzzy Bees" mod you worked on installed so it's really cool to me that you took an interest in my mod! :)
I personaly prefer the gap for my builds in part becuse it looks nice with support beams. However I can absolutley see why a complete point would be preferable, so I would love to at least make both varaints availible though mod config oprions or such. I would love your help on this mod particualry with the corners. Should I contact you through the discord link in your mods' descriptions?
seems to work on 1.21.0 for now
Any chance of a 1.21 update now that it's on stable?
lying_dice

My girlfriend told me about this mod and how much she enjoys it so I came here to check it out. The first thing I noticed was the glass roof ridges not coming to a complete point. My perfectionism took control so I made a new model and some more frame textures for you to use! I could also add a frame line to the inner curve if you'd like and maybe a "triangle" stepping to cover the empty space at the bottom. I would also like to help you work on getting the glass corners, both inner and outer, working too. I think they would really pull this mod together and allow for even more creativity in peoples worlds!
Thank you so much for this mod!!! Definitely a feature the game desprately needed! I just was wondering if you might ever work on corner pieces in the future? Like how other roof parts have inner and outer corners. I wanted to be able to build something like a conservatory dome thing and chiseling can get very tedious lol
Appreciate this a lot, I'm using it to make an atrium. Have you thought of adding corner pieces, like the ones the vanilla roof sets have?
Percibelle unfortunetly the base game does not have probper suport for chistling blocks with angled shapes so that fact that they are chistleable is an oversight on my part. I might make a future update where borderless glass roofs are craftable but there are some types of glass roofing that that would be impossible to make look right without borders so the selection would be more limited.
I'll at you if i ever manage to get around to it
I've been creating greenhouses with plank columns, leaded pane panels, and yes, block glass between support beams. Leaded panes also makes cute chicken fenceing. I was hoping a coder would take me up on "wrenching" panes horizontal for glass roofing, but you went the extra ten miles and made angled glass. So maybe I can make some new kind of skylight?
When I try to chisel them to remove the black borders, they turn into glass cube blocks. Is this intended or am I messing up somehow?
@whisky_biz, I hadn't thought of that but glacer ice roofs sound like a good idea. I'll try to get around to it sometime soon :)
edit: glacier ice roofs have been added :)
Would it be possible for a glacial ice roof too since thats a greenhouse block?
I was literally just thinking I should make a glass roof mod and here you've already done it! Thanks so much! Can you add a couple images of how they look with existing roof types?
I wish there were this many roof block variations for the vanilla roofs, especially the 'pane' roof that isnt connected to a block, honestly this would just be in the vanilla game if it were my choice
Greetings! Thank you for such a thorough explanation of what your mod does and some of the decisions you made as to why certain features are the way they are. Thanks for this mod...the glass options are so limited in vanilla VS. I think you will find great success with this one! GG!
Accidentally left a placehloder icon from extended creation as the mod icon, i've fixed the problem now though. Ther should not be any other placeholder assets from other mods anymore.
Delightful!
This is super cool!
