What does this mod do?
This mod replaces almost all tools with more smoothed ones. I tried to do it in a vanilla style and proportions, slightly changed the silhouette of the handles.
No new textures, just the corrected mesh.
Improved knives - already built into this mod!
Compatibility
At the moment, the mod is compatible with any mod that does not change the tool models.
Version 1.1.11 is fully compatible. If there are visual changes in the tools in future versions, then a patch may be needed and most likely this will be the highest priority for me!
Animations
There shouldn't be any problems with any animation mods.
Compatible with version 0.3.9 and below
Future plans
• Create tool models from luxury metals.
• Additional tool options for copper, bronze and iron.
• Lots of edits...
Changelog
• A lot of work with UV maps and models😬
• Some varieties of tools have been added.
Tool variants in version 1.1
It is planned to create variations for all instruments, as well as a luxury version for gold and silver instruments.
• Complete UV remaking. Gradient textures on metal
• A test version of the hammers, maybe I'll redo it in the future.
• New screenshots from the game.
Tool in version 1.2
Weapons update 1.1
• Replaced spears
• Replaced falxes (still in development)
• Replaced estok
• Fix hammer model
Weapons in version 1.2.1
In my opinion, falxes ones are still very disconnected from the original, I'll try to refine them for a while, if it doesn't work out, I'll go back to work the tools.
Combat Overhaul Compatibility
• Added support Combat Overhaul (forced)
• Fix falxes and falxhead
• Replaced shields
The forced support for combat overhaul means that I just replaced the models from the mod with my own, which is not very correct, but it's fast.😄
Bronze Tier Update
• Added models for bronze tools, tried to make something in between copper and iron.
• Updated models of knives, picks, axes, hoes, hammers and shovel.
• Fix toolheads bugs.
• Fix models bugs.
Version 1.2.4
Small Update
• Added new item - Metal tongs, if you, like me, didn't like using wooden tongs the whole game...
• Remodeled blackguard sword.
• Remodeled shears.
• New iron scythe.
• Fix hammer head size.

HanleyS, Yes! But I'm still busy helping with the development of toolsmith, as soon as I have time, I'll do it!
Could this be made compatible with the Art of Growing Mod, redesigning the pitchfork, and any other tool added within that mod?
TheSmallOne, Thanks! Hmm, most likely the issue is on your end—I’ve never encountered this problem before. Thanks for the information, I noticed that the shield is not properly positioned on the floor, I will fix it soon.

UPD: most likely, some mod overwrites the item types file and changes the location of the shield and airframe on the rack, so they disappear.
Ive noticed that shields placed on the floor and put in racks are invisible. Gliders put on the floor also go invisible, turning of the mod makes them appear again. Is this on my end or is this a function that hasn't been implemented yet?
Despite this the models look stunning, love the work!
LunaGore, I will remove things soon, and add a patch for the mod that adds them!
The metal tongs recipe isn't working for me, I've tried uploading a screenshot but my comments aren't posting.
MrSnow_, Hi! Unfortunately, it's not working yet, but I'm working on it. Michael00181, If you're talking about the old falx, then yes, I agree, so I've changed them to look more like the original☺️ Screenshots below. And if you're talking about the new folks, then they use the same silhouette, the differences in their silhouette are minimal, so there shouldn't be any major differences
Love the falxes but I think some of the other models look a little jarring. Too clean and thick, like they're bold text in a document that's otherwise normal.
Hello!
Am I right to think that this mod should work on the official main multiplayer server as well?
LivCi, Thanks! I'll post the latest minor update with falx soon, and then I'll focus on toolsmith
The new falx blades look amazing, great job! Also, looking forward to your collab with Jon
JonR, I created a branch on the forum, but I'm not sure if I did it right😀 CookiePsycho, Thanks for the information! Instead of adding new tongs, I'll make a patch for this mod.
There is already a mod called Sergs' Metal Thongs
https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/16743
The way its handled there is that Wooden have 20durability, and metal ones progressively more. This way its not only a visual change.
ODs Oh really!? That would be sick to have an animation for it all... There's currently just the kinda wobbling on the Workbench before it pops together, but I figure an animation might be really nice for the in-hand. Though perhaps something like that is much better left after getting the parts figured hah! There's currently some work I've been doing mainly on the axe already in the mod files in the Shapes, but if you check the shapes/item/parts/ directory, after that it's just split into different folders for the base items alone and sub-folders for a version of the shape intended to be part of the actual multi-part tool. I kinda imagine it like fitting together kinda lego pieces where the head goes on the handle (plus a grip shape to add to the handles), and the binding as well... But yeaaaah, it's a lot of shapes, haha. If you are on the Official Vintage Discord, we could talk more about the details in the Toolsmith thread if you'd like? Or I could shoot you a message with more details on the Vintage Forums if you prefer that!
JonR, Wow, thanks! But now I definitely have to split the mod. Wow, that's really cool! I could help with that, but I need examples, like a fully finished axe with all the handles and windings. I could also try to make a custom animation of the assembly of objects, since this is the only thing that can be done with the current addon for blender, I figured out the export of the skeleton, but the plugin still leaves much to be desired, and for example, is impossible to change the character model globally without additional dancing with a tambourine and .dll
ODs Ah! I saw you mention the clientsided issues before, and I think that's because it might've not had it set to clientsided in the modinfo. I think all you'd need to do is add just | "Side": "Client", "RequiredOnClient": true, "RequiredOnServer": false, | to the modinfo file on the version with only the shapes and transform patches, and it should be good to go? The lack of these options I believe default to both sides being required. I've not tested it though myself, I'm going off of what I know from looking at other mods as well!
Also haha, technically Toolsmith is pretty much set for having support for custom shape rendering of tools and everything, the only issue is that I need the various shapes to render :P (Then the little bit of code to get them set up with all the info on the items, but that's just busywork) Like separate parts for each tool for each type of handle, binding and head, it's just slow going to make them, but I did get started on the Axe as a starting point some time ago when I just wanted to take it easy and model.
LivCi, So far, it has not been possible to create a developer environment for creating some complex functions, so at the moment is metal tongs it is just a decor😞 As for the falxes, I remodeled their again, left the vanilla style and made them smoother.

Since you added metal tongs, what will you do with the wooden ones? I agree that grabbing red-hot metal with two sticks is just dumb, but what's special about the metal tongs since both variants can grab hot metal with no restrictions? Is it just a skin or will they have a different function from the wooden tongs?
wael6, so far, the problem is that even without adding new items, the mod does not work on the server, i don't know how to fix it yet. The mod will be divided in the future when toolsmith is released or when I come up with something interesting) LivCi I also don't like the falx and blackguard sword design, primarily because it doesn't look like vanilla at all. I think how can I make them more vanilla friendly...
Am I the only one who is not a big fan of the falx blade? It looks like a weird combination between a machete and a rapier
if you are going to add new items you probably should make another modpage with a version that only change models so its fully clientside
Leagle, Thanks! progress would have been even faster if i had any ideas on what to do next😄 For now, I'm waiting for toolsmith to come out to make custom tools. LunaGore, Thanks for the interesting idea! I’ll test this on bronze tools first. Perhaps I'll add this to the iron tools as well.
Would it be possible to offer a version without rope on metal tools? Or possibly changing it to leather strips visually.
I'm loving the progress you've made in just two weeks so far. You can see the passion in the results you deliver.
wael6, There are no ideas yet on how to improve the stone tools.😬 NiclAss, Thanks! PhoenixB, Thanks!
Wow these look SICK. Thank you!
Looks amazing well done!
also if you do make the stone ones you should make a little bit higher quality one for the flint and obsidian ones
wael6, Yes, maybe when I'm done with the metal ones, I'll start with the stone ones. Calminaion, Let me know if you need help. Good luck with the mod! FemurSnapper69, Hmm, thanks for the information, it wasn't possible to test on the server, I'll try to figure this out, but most likely due to the fact that the mod patches the itemtype file, the server will replace it.
Hey, love the mod. I was just curious if this mod was fully client side? It works in my singleplayer world but doesn't work on any server that I try to join. I see the mod is classified as "client" so I'm curious if you would know why it's not working. Thank you much
@ODs thanks, I'll see what I can create. Thought about it and will see if I can implement it as a standalone item instead of a replacer like I had initially planned.
would be cool as shit if you remade stone tools with actual knapping marks and shit
NotSoRants, Thanks! I'm still correcting the tool models. So far, I've only fixed the pickaxe😬 TotallyNotASmurf, Yes, there is such a mistake) I need to create patches to fix this. I'll fix it in the next version. Calminaion, Of course, I don't mind. The only advice I can give is to use Blender with the export/import addon, though there's currently an animation export issue in the latest version that I haven't been able to resolve yet. At the moment, it is very inconvenient to create complex models in VS model creator.😞
@ODs hope you don't mind but I am planning on making my own Falx mod. Got inspired by what you've done and thought I would give it a try. Never modded before so slowly figuring stuff out. Do you have any tips to make models smoother and textures connect better?
Btw, black bronze shovel and hammer uses the high grade models rather than the low grade one. Is it intended? Looks nice though ngl....
wael6 yeah of course it would make more sense to it that way, really stoked to see what ODs does in the future though, really talented they are.
wael6, Yeah, you're right. I'm thinking about splitting weapons into their own mod separate from tools, with full Combat Overhaul Armory support. Honestly, splitting focus between weapons and tools is getting messy... I plan to finish the tools and focus on the weapons.
thx for the quick update and the combat overhaul support :), new blackguard sword and shield and scrap weapons remodel could be nice as hell too (and maybe making another separate mod with remaked combat overhaul armory weapons too)
NotSoRants, if he does make a complete game overhaul he should make it into multiple mods tho, would be REALLY annoying to have have everything when you just want the tools or armor or whatever it could be
NotSoRants, Thanks! There was an idea to recycle the character and armor to a smoother one, but I ran into the problem of exporting animations and the skeleton, if i can be solved, I would like to implement it. Calminaion, yes! your ideas are very helpful, so far I have slightly modified the falxes and redesigned the shields, now I want to focus on compatibility with combat overhaul (All these new swords look really bad with the standard animation.😬) Kosmu Thanks! wael6, Thanks for the comment, combat overhaul really replaces spears and estoc, I'll try to make a patch for this, but I'm afraid it may take a long time, since combat overhaul doesn't want to work on my version...
Update falxes and shields
you absolutly should add some combat overhaul armory/combat overhual compat because the models for the spears and estoc don't show up when using them, and its real sad with how cool it looks
Incredibly banger models, love the gilded ones
TotallyNotASmurf nice idea, maybe it can start as a a cutting blade then when you get to iron + it has a serated edge, like you've been fighting them all this time and at iron you have learnt how to effectively fight them?
ODs whatever direction you decide to take it, I look forward to seeing. Don't think I could go back to the vanilla style now as these are top tier designs. And thanks for letting us give you some ideas :)
duuuude soooo sick love the new weapon designs!!! so sick! Now do you have any plans to do armor? heck a whole total texture overhaul of the game? you're really talented!
If I can add some of my opinion, I think the Falxes should all retain their serrated edges, with the more advanced having less of it, but more refined. Lore wise iirc Falxes are amazing weapons against Rust Entities because of it rending flesh, not cutting. But honestly idk how you would actually implement the serrated edges because the iron+ models are already so good. Incredible work, the Estoc looks like a masterpiece, I hope all the good things for you.
DecaByte, Thanks!😄 EventidesTurmoil, Yes, it's fully compatible, my fault, I forgot to add a compatibility line, I updated it.
Do you mind putting a compatibility section in the description? Good to know if it's compatible with certain stuff.
Btw, is it compatible with Toolsmith and ToolAnimations?
JonR, You're welcome! Glad I could help, I hope this helps in the development of your mod! Calminaion, Not a bad idea! Thanks! I'll try to work with this blade shape, it looks more like the original. wael6, Wow, thanks!😄
Wow! These are all really nice!
this shit lookin' sick dude, keep up the good work, also DAMN does the frankenstein falx look good
GYAAAAAT DAAAYMMM
Oh! Alright! Thank you a ton then, ODs! I'm glad it could also inspire you to make such wonderful models for the base-game tools!
Calminaion, Thanks for the idea! I tried to combine these two swords, i also took the original one and it turned out to be such a Frankenstein😄 But it still needs to be refined... JonR, Thanks! Of course! You can use any details of my mod. I'm really looking forward to the update toolsmith! In part, your mod inspired me to create Reforgered Tools.

I keep checking back to see the new models and such, and DANG... I really kinda love those upcoming spears, and the ornamentation on the guard of the Estoc is amazing too. I would like to ask, though I really don't want to sound presumptuous or anything, but - would you be fine if I used bits of your shapes for the tool part rendering in Toolsmith, or at the very least use them as reference material for designing my own shapes and parts? Totally understandable if not cause you have put loads of work into them!
The falx seems like a hard thing to get right. Maybe curve the top of the new one so the point is more forward.
Curved like your old one but with the style of the new one.
Calminaion, Thanks! Yes, the hammers need to be improved, thanks for the comment. NotSoRants, Thanks! Weapons are in development, but so far only the estok is ready, I don't really like the rest. Fairyfloss, Thanks! Good point, I'll try to make even lower quality copper as soon as I figure out the weapon, it turned out to be more difficult than I thought... Zuul Thanks!

At the moment, the weapon looks like this, if there are any comments, I will gladly take them into account!
Nice work 💜
Wow, every time I click on this page, there's new good stuff, keep it up!
My one suggestion/request would be to put the current "Low Grade" tools under the Bronze tier, and give Copper it's own lower-quality look still.
Beyond that, wow, keep up the great work. Loving these.
I'm loving the mod so far, it would sick if you could possibly someday work on the weapons and armors, you're very gifted with modeling tools. Keep up the good work man :)
I like the look of the models and it's very nice to see the detailed images you have added. Great work.
Hope you do look at the hammers sometime. High grade one looks great, the low grade are too bulky tbh. Everything else is spot on :)
Dumither, Yes, they both just replace the tool models. Bobosaw, Initially, I wanted to divide weapons and tools into 2 mods, but it doesn't seem to make sense, so I'll take up weapons as a priority🙂
Could you also update the falx to be more close to the real life falx and sica?
Thanks for the reply.. I kind of figured the two mods where of the same type of purpose..
VaelophisNyx, Yes, you're right, Both were set by default, I'll change that, when I update the mod.
Couldn't this just be set to client-sided?
AlexSisX0, For now, the priority is to add variations for tools and fix bugs, I think this week I'll deal with the missing tools, maybe weapons too😄 Dumither, Yes, that's right, metal tool remodel replaces tool models like my mod, and there's no way to come up with any compatibility🙄
Doesn't seem to work with metaltoolremoval.. hopefuly it will at some point but untill then will keep using same mod..
Cuando lo actualizaran? tengo ganas de ver todas las herramientas ^^
RowanSkie, I think I'll have to make a patch, but there shouldn't be anything critical. I myself am looking forward to the author Toolsmith updating the mod 😄 Fairyfloss, Thanks! A very interesting reference
Very excited to see more of this mod! Tools having different designs per tier is a very cool idea to me, reminds me of the old dj's Vanilla Tools mod. Especially if lower-tier tools get a somewhat rougher look to make high-tier tools stand out more. Keep up the great work!
I wonder if this will be compatible with Toolsmith. Once Toolsmith managed to add their custom handles to each tool that is.
JesoliTheAvali, Yes, it is fully compatible, but there may be slight problems with animations, as the position of the handle has changed slightly.
Question, (this may be silly but I wanted to ask anyways), does this mod work with combat overhaul?
Kosmu, There shouldn't be any problems at the moment, but things may change in the future. I'll try to make it as compatible as possible.
Oh since I'm expecting this to be mandatory in my mod list in the future, do you know if it'll be compatible with others mods like Re-Alloy or Gilded Tools/Steel?
Kosmu, Thanks! Leagle, Thanks! I are currently planning to finish additional versions of tools made of expensive metals and texture editing, after which I will try to create versions for weapons and other tools!

A small example of what I mean by other versions made of expensive metals😄 In the original, only hatchets have this.
These tools look fantastic! I'd love to see you expand your work to include other tools and/or weapons.
Thank you very much for your work then and looking forwards to all those neat ideas you've mentioned!
Bobosaw, Yes! this is exactly what I wanted to try to do in the near future.
Would it be possible to have different materials have different models based on the type of metal they use? All good if not.
JonR, Thanks! Kosmu, Yes, that's right, I'll try to add such versions for all tools soon. Most likely, the version for weapons will be a separate Mod. DanaCraluminum, Maybe soon!😄
Shears, tongs, arrows, falx, spear, hammer, saw and wrenches
I assume for the expensive metals tools you mean things like Gold/Silver/Black Bronze? would be nice to see things like the Ornate Gold Spear style on things
Wow, these are absolutely incredible! Seriously amazing work!
