This is an edit of smoke and powder that includes; several recipe improvements, rebalanced damage values, and more.
includes lance rifle models from and ornate breach loaders based on ranged weapons.
compatible with kemono.
additions
- added lance rifles in copper and bronze and ornate versions.
- added molds for lance rifle barrels.
- added ornate versions of the breach loader.
- added new crafting tool, the auger, for properly boreing barrels.
changes
- molds can now be made with red clay as well.
- increased projectile speed.
- disabled muzzle loading muskets for being redundant to breach loaders.
- damage now depends on the material construction rather than the bullet.
- pistols are significantly more powerful.
- barrels are now made from vanilla rod items and removed barrel rod to not clutter smithing menu too much.
- breaches now no longer require metal parts item.
- moved gears from rifle recipe to lock recipe (rifle now takes 0 and lock takes 5).
- rifles and pistols now require locks of the same metal type as the finished product.

I'll get around to screenshots eventually.

so sorry. it should be fixed now. I accidently shipped the update without the dll
WolfWarrior
Same Error Such as Jhoulana
How can I fix it?
@WolfWarrior
I understand completely. I didn't even realise that weapons didn't share the same salvage mechanic until you told me. Most of the time we are usually throwing stone spears and leaving the metals for tools, say for a few exceptions. The salvage recipe is a great idea and would be a great stop gap!
i am getting an error with the new version:
[Error] [smokeandpowderredux2] An exception was thrown when trying to load assembly:
[Error] [smokeandpowderredux2] Exception: declared as code mod, but there are no .dll files that contain at least one ModSystem or has a ModInfo attribute

fixed the scaling and tool rack issues.

the only thing I changed from release to newest version was adding a mod icon. I know it is incorectly scaled on a tool rack but I've been putting off fixing that becuase adjusting tool rack values is strictly trial and error and requires multiple reloads of a test world... but also it didn't even occur to me to check what it looks like in third person so if I'll have to look at that and maybe fix it if it's wrong.
modding is a lot of work 😭
The lances seem to be a bit overscaled, don't 'think' it was like this in the previous version, they're currently around 2-3x the height of a seraph.
currently to my knowledge toolsmith does not have any effect on weapons.
when that update comes around I will look into what it takes to add compatibility, no promises though becuase I don't code. in the mean time I could probably make a salvage recipe for metal bits if you like?
Hello! I was wondering if your mod was compatible with the Toolsmith Mod. It's one of the ways we allow for blacksmiths to be more useful in our world, and having them be able to recycle gun parts would be cool!
Clear0Skies
thanks for letting me know :)
I used to use kemono but a lot of mods were incompatible so I like supporting it.
Happy to report that so far, using the kemono pony forms, the Vanilla firearms work just fine as it also goes true for the vanilla weapons.
I do think it is clever that you are using the bow system to fire which is handy as the issue with the other firearms mod seems to be that the the gun either doesn't work or its somehow buried in the ground.
Looking forward to what you can further cook up with this mod!
Oh, I'm not blaming you or anything. I'm just complaining lol

honestly I would change it if I could. but I don't know c# I'm just using the code available, this is just a json edit.
I will say though that the projectiles for the firearms go quite a bit farther before dropping off, and with buckshot you potentially can hit mutiple targets. so there is use case.
but yeah I'm still using the compound recurve bow from my vanilla armory and probably will for some time.
I want to like this mod, and the Redux before it, and the original before that, but they all suffer from one major flawed mechanic - they all behave like bows. One of the main reasons you would use a gun over a bow is the ability to pre-arm the weapon so that it's ready to fire the second you need it, but just like bows these weapons require you to hold right-click to load and then immediately fire the second you release right-click.
I don't know how that all works from a modding/coding perspective as I've never tried to do it myself, but clearly it's possible to do in Vintage Story since Maltiez's firearms behave the way a firearm is supposed to.
