- Initial Release: This is a very simple mod using vanilla drops to make cattails, papyrus, tule, and berry bushes cultivatable. Also slightly increases (1 -3) reed, papyrus, and tule drops in general. | |||||||
If you want to change something, then you can slightly modify the existing reproduction mechanics. In particular, in the current mechanics, you can actually reproduce bushes indefinitely if you plant them multiple times and cut them with a knife. The mechanics with cattails are very cool—they allow reproduction, but don't make it too easy or endless.
I can suggest the following mechanics for propagating berry bushes, although it will be more difficult to implement:
if you cut the bush with scissors or do the same on the crafting grid, you get 2 berry cuttings that can be planted in the ground (and which, for example, will produce a normal berry bush in 1 month). If the chance that each cutting will take root is 60%, then in total we get a 36% chance of doubling the number of bushes, a 16% chance that the player will lose both cuttings, and a 48% chance that only one bush will survive. I think this is the perfect balance: it prevents endless division of bushes, creates a temporary delay in reproduction, and more or less corresponds to botany and game mechanics.
If this is too difficult to implement, then endless reproduction can be avoided if division occurs only at a certain stage of the bush. For example, by cutting only bushes with ripe berries, we can get two bushes instead of one. Or through berries, which are seeds in nature—for example, using certain mechanics, we can get one bush from 16 ripe berries.
There is an alternative mod called “Wild Farming - Revival,” but in it, cattail reproduction is very cheaty.
unHallowed ChimMAG I'll try and get this updated for the new version. Been itching to start playing again.
Still works in 1.21.1!!
Will you be updating to the new version?
can you add compatibility with the Real Grapes mod Please?
Cool! Replant a broken bush AND take one home. I love it!
