Domestication
Feeding adults, they are carnivores, you simply drop the meat on the floor, they require 30 portions max to breed, less depending on species.
They are peaceful after 10 geneations
I wouldn't recommend domesticating them
Lures
You can craft a big and a small lure, range 100 and 30 respectively

Well in anycase I found the issue and it should be addressed now in this latest update
yuttgyh
it'll be more useful to know what the log actually said, because I can not recreate the issue you are refering too
This mod definitly has an issue with aiTaskWander (same issue reported by Scorives) causing issues with dropped items, after removing this mod the stange behavior was fixed!
metasynthie
Mosasaurs don't lay eggs so no nests, you either light up the lake somehow or keep atleast some of their species nearby to hit their group spawn cap of one.
The aggression "not too far onto land" but the ability for them to flop back into water seems to be working now. But now it's so hard to kill them -- gotta poke them in the eye with a decent weapon, I guess?
Do these guys have nests like the other Phanerozoic dinosaurs? Or some way to stop them spawning? Otherwise I might have to make a special lantern-lit lake to lure them into and seal them off. Call it "loch ness"
Scorives
That looks like it's from the Fotsa mod dinornithidae not one of mine

14.5.2025 02:41:15 [Server Debug] dinornithidae:emeidae-nest-anomalopteryxdidiformis-incubating attempted to play an animation code which its shape does not have: "idle"
just fyi this is on 1.20.11 test branch which i know is not supported yet.
Might just be strange luck, they're in the smaller lake but i'll give it a while and kill em and see if they'll naturall spawn elsewhere. if all else fails i'll toss a few into the big lake and hopefully they'll breed.
I also see the rework for the flopping. much appreciate on that! I personally don't mind the aggression, its actually really frightening when they're jetting towards you. I have a monkey bridge from primitive surivival over the mosasaur lake currently and they'll jump up and nip at me, its very immersive and scary.
crumps
As long as there's valid water blocks, enough space, correct climate and 100 blocks away from the player they'll spawn. I've also excluded huge pelts from their drop table in the latest update.
is there a preference the game has for the bodies of water they spawn in? or if they're in one they won't spawn nearby? obviously haven't had it added that long but so far the game is preferring they spawn in a smaller body of water on my world and not the large lake nearby to it. Not the biggest deal, I can wait and see if they eventually spawn or just throw some in with creative for the added difficulty but was just curious :D
edit: also, are you able to change the drops of the juveniles vs adults? a juvenile plotosaur dropped a huge pelt which just feels a bit too much for its size.
Unsure what this warning log means. but, my server is spamming this.

Amusing enough, the lake froze over and they are now stuck flopping and sliding over the ice.
It's a fair exchange for being big behemoth and having the potential to one shot you
I'm NGL I love adding them but seeing them wiggle on land like buffoons is so funny
Wist
Them attack rafts intended, it mimicks how sharks will attack surfers boards thinking it's turtle. Globidens is little shorter than the rest, I forgot account for their shorter length, should be adjusted for the next update
These look great and I enjoyed my first encounter. A few things I noticed (with the globidens specifically), both may be design choices but just in case:
They attacked my unmanned raft like it was the player.
Their reach is 1 block in front of their head, so it's easy to think you are further away than you are from being bitten.
Awesome to see the out of water get fixed. Def adding this to my server so oceans are scary!
Vigilance
They should no longer land swim and will flop like a stupid magicarp back to their water
You are absolutely 100% killing it with this series man. I'm really glad for this!!! Started with the T-rex and now you have an amazing series.
After reading the comments, I think I will hold off on installing this for a little. I don't need them chasing me on land when I already have to deal with the local Spinosauridae populations.
That said I look forward to fearing them when I eventually get to water exploration. Or them terrorizing my floating farms
I don't even live near the ocean but installed this to make trips to the beach more exciting! Then I logged in and saw two of these beasts, a big one and a little one, trapped in the river next to my house, which wasn't quite big enough for them to maneuver easily (only six wide). Intended behavior... or...?
ActualLizard
Well you could always make a sky/tree base to stay safe, atleast for now
And my idea to settle on an island for safety just got destroyed. Amazing work as always!
How horrifying. Thank you, at least it is pretty clear to see when they're close enough to shore to tear me apart.
Haha, yes, it's not the intended behavior, as of right, the vanilla code that specify how entity behave on land or in the water is currently broken, instead of flopping they'll just swim on land while chasing you, so until then, treat them like crocs on steroids.
I'm really appreciative of the fact that you're making the waterways a nightmare for me now, but I just learned that when a mosasaurus decides to chase me on to land, they are quite formidable land hunters too. I don't assume this is intended behavior? Lmao
JunidO
The fly ai is not up to snuff, so when they are I will
Will you ever create a mod with flying dinosaurs?
An_Sar
typo should be fixed
models look great, also very nice to have more stuff in the oceans.
ran into this error, also was not able to spawn the creatures by hand even though they do appear in creative inventory, worth noting this was on linux single player and a linux based server.
