"They declared themselves the vanguard. Swords raised, oaths taken; they swore a heavenly charge against our foe. It was a challenge of will and ingenuity."
Forlorn Additons is a collection of new armour, weapons, and décor based on the existing lore of the Forlorn Hope, and expanding it within reason. All items come with lore in their tool-tips.
If you encounter any bugs, or have suggestion for balancing or additions, let me know!
Currently the mod adds the following:
- Forlorn Hope Zealot Armour - A steel-tier set of Forlorn Hope armour once worn by the most fantatical of the oath-bound knights. Crafted by upgrading the existing Forlorn Hope armour.
- Forlorn Hope Acolyte Armour - A meteoric-iron-tier set of light Forlorn Hope armour once worn by initiates and squires of the knights.
- Forlorn Hope Claymore - A meteoric-iron-tier greatsword with high damage and long reach.
- Forlorn Hope Dagger - A meteoric-iron-tier blade with similar stats to meteoric iron knife.
- Forlorn Hope Shortbow - A meteoric-iron-tier bow with similar stats to the long bow.
- Forlorn Hope Warhammer - A meteoric-iron-tier club with high damage and average range.
- Forlorn Hope Banner - New block bearing the holy symbols of the Forlorn Hope's faith.
- New Model for the Forlorn Hope Estoc - A new model for the Forlorn Hope Estoc that more closely fits the asthetic of later Vintage Story versions, while keeping the iconic look.

Known issues:
- Daggers cannot be used for knife crafting recipes; I am looking for a proper fix to this that will let them alse be used in other mod's recipes.
My mods are made with Vanilla balance in mind.
I will not be adding explicit support for mods that change this balance.

There is a way and I will probably make a patch for weapons but I dont know when
Octaninc Is it at all possible to get the FH Claymore to function as a CO Greatsword? If so, I beg of thee sir.
Maybe it's cause I'm using an older version of combat overhaul, I'm not a fan of some of the recent updates so I just didn't update.
Hanley well then u probably did something wrong cause i just checked and it works for me. both armors have their respective stats and debuffs I also checked and drifter seems to be doing less damage with armor +code for both sets is litteraly identical with diffrent names so they must behave the same way unless base code is different
Octaninc In your CO patch do both sets of armor work and correctly apply their protection and debuffs? I've tried playing around with it but no matter what I do only the zealot armor functions correctly but the acolyte armor simply refuses to work even though the stat card is correct.
Yay, the new balance changes so good ^^
AlbaRegem Well its issue with the model So I cant do anything about it or more accuratly there is probably a way but I dont know it. There is probably a code to hide other armors when this is worn but I dont know it
Welcemir this is actually a really good point, I'll add it change list!
@Octaninc when usinig it with co, chainmail clips throug armour
Hi! Thanks so much for making this awesome mod!
The two new armors look absolutely awsome!
Just a minor gripe: It seems to me that the stats are fully identical to the Blackguard Warden Armor (same downsides as the vanilla Blackguard Armor).
Since it is an upgrade to the vanilla Forlorn Hope armor, which has somewhat lower downsides than the vanilla Blackguard Armor, you'd sacrifice these extra bonuses by upgrading.
Do you think the reduced downsides of the vanilla Forlorn Hope armor should be used on the upgraded armor as well?
Thanks again for sharing your great work with us!
huh?
what clipping
AlbaRegem
Octaninc Hey, can you do something about clipping or is it out of your reach?
Absolutely love the paladin aesthetic going on here! do you have plans in the future to patch in Xskills compatability for the smithing bonuses?
Edit: actually it seems like most of it just works. its only the meteoric iron claymore blade thats not registering an additonal value with the skill.
Beautiful armors and new weapons!
Varkkon unzip the file go to assets/forlornadditions/patches(or something like that just find patches folder)
then add new folder called compatibility and drop the patch there and zip the mod again and you are done.
Probably it will even work without creating new folder
Hi! Sorry, I may be not finding anything about it, but, how does that patch work, Octaninc ? Where should one put the file? I hope you're able to make more patches for these, I absolutely love the design for the items and would love to be able to have the Blackguard armor too with CO, ty to both Irakonul and you!
Irakonul yea but in CO changes so steel armor have way less defuufs compared to vanilla so now your have bigger deffus so to conpensate I added slightly better protection but I can probaby add a patch to patch base values when CO is active. Maybe I ll try that altho i have no idea how
Octaninc it's encouraging to see this being attempted! I'll provide my thought process with balancing below just in case it helps!
My goal with the base-game balance was: Zealot has steel protection, slightly less debuffs (movement speed/hunger) as the armour is supposed to be harder to aquire than basic steel plate; Acolyte is essentially bronze lamellar in defense, but higher flat damage reduction (same as meteoric iron), but this is a trade off for not debuffing ranged stats (for hunter players, essentially, as the only armours that don't debuff ranged stats are leather and gambeson (to my knowledge)). I wanted to keep things close to vanilla tiers, just providing more late-game options.
for zealot its around iron tier in terms of protection but weaker due its a light armor. For weapons I didnt make one cause i dont know how yet.
CO patch
(I suck at balancing so maybe someone will do it better. it should be written without a mess so its gonna be easy to change evey value
justOmi I appreciate it!
Made loc for this mod too
also slightly updated for Blackguards (low priority)
Drunken_can presently, I have no plans to add support myself, as I don't use CO, I don't know the extent of the changes CO makes, nor do I know how to properly balance said changes for CO, and, given comments on a number of other mods I have been reading through, CO appears to be quite difficult to figure out patches for.
With that said, I gladly encourage anyone considering attmepting it to give it a try, as patching can be a great way to get framiliar with Vintage Story's formatting. A text editor with formatting support (Notepad++ on windows and the Gnome text editor on Linux, just as examples) is all you really need so long as you're not touching code files, which for things like this you shoudln't need to. Also, if you can run Vintage through a terminal, it does provide (normally) quite easy to read errors, which can be a huge help for fixing mistakes.
Hey, just curious, will the Forlorn Additions and Blackguard Additions might become compatible with Combat Overhaul at some point? No worries if not, just wondering if that might be compatible later.
SpicyBigDad I appreciate the kind words! I'll be updating this and Blackguard as I have ideas for them I feel are worth bringing in. I do also agree with your criticism of the Zealot armour; I wanted to do something more complicated with the visor and pauldrons, admittedly, but it got very messy with the limitations of the model creator, so some things did turn out a little more samey than I would have ideally liked. Though, I do feel it has its own unique charm.
Sick models!
Love your work, the models look incredible and expands the player's arsenal while still remaining lore friendly.
The armor and weapon variety is a very nice addition and doesn't ruin balancing of Vanilla like a lot of other mods do.
IF I have to make one criticism, the upgraded Forlorn armor looks a bit too similar to the Blackguard warden armor from your other mod. But this is a minor gripe.
This and Blackguard additions are my absolute favorite mods right now I hope you keep updating these. :-)
Looks great, Irakonul! Can't wait to craft it all.
it looks great
woooooo!!!! so hyped :)
