This mod adds a Stirling engine that operates faster or slower depending on the quality of the fuel used.

Higher-quality fuel increases the engine's speed and efficiency, while lower-quality fuel slows it down.

Hello mate, my game is in version 1.22.3 and the last update of your mod is giving me a error:

[Error] [stirlingmotor] Could not resolve some dependencies:
[Error] [stirlingmotor] game@1.22.4 - Version mismatch (has 1.22.3)

ManaWei, Jul 22nd at 7:58 AM (modified Jul 22nd at 7:59 AM)

Maybe you should change the recipe to include Rendered Fat instead of Raw Fat.. or you could have both..
People tend to treat the fat so it doesn't spoil..

Raek, Jul 21st at 10:14 PM

Interesting.

I will have to give this a try. If I find anything weird I will let you know.

this is in dire need of an update, since the alternative is covered in AI slop and balanced very differently

ManaWei, Jul 12th at 1:25 PM

This needs a 1.22.x update XD
LOVE THIS MOD !! <3

CtrlAltSilent, May 3rd at 10:18 PM

I look forward to this mod working again one day as it was a favorite on my server. Thanks for the great mod!

Meravokas, May 2nd at 2:08 AM

Not appearing to load right in .22.1. Don't know if .22 works. Loads in as a pair of white blocks with text and no interaction.

AngryBajur, Jan 18th at 12:41 AM

This mod is great, it's so fun.

I LOVE THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION AND ITS CONSEQUENCES!

Egil_Raud, Dec 30th 2025 at 6:07 PM

Hi, I would be grateful for adding ru localization.

LadyBlakeHammer, Dec 21st 2025 at 7:09 PM

Coal Coke would be much better for it then?

rebman36, Dec 21st 2025 at 6:29 AM (modified Dec 21st 2025 at 12:47 PM)

This is a really cool mod that I look forward to using in my kitchen. Probably be a lot easier than routing power all the way over from my windmill.

EDIT:

After a bit of playtesting, I agree with some of the others about balancing. I think it should probably be at least iron age tech, with it needing a blueprint to be built. Maybe have the parts be made of iron and brass instead of clay. I saw someone mention having a warm-up time and agree on that. Also, gating the speed and efficiency of each fuel type would probably help balance as well. Maybe set each fuel type to the corresponding wind speed but with a lower use time. You could also have it work better in colder temperatures or at night to give it some trade-offs with wind power. Either way, this mod is really cool and I look forward to it's future.

Farbott, Nov 10th 2025 at 2:12 AM

I think this being a clockmaker recipe would be nice, seems a bit strong if it just needs a burning fuel and nothing else to function. That and some noise for the pistons :)

Yarro, Oct 21st 2025 at 6:25 PM

Terond The fluid chamber has to be made out of fire clay specifically

Terond, Oct 18th 2025 at 9:06 PM

Hey I am unable to find the stirling engine fluid chamber in the list of items i can make using clayforming the other two pieces required to make it show up but not the fluid chamber itself.

Yukari_75, Sep 22nd 2025 at 3:17 AM

Prospero It's a Stirling engine, they operate on air temperature differentials, needing water isn't realistic

Prospero, Sep 10th 2025 at 11:28 AM (modified Sep 10th 2025 at 11:41 AM)

@Corenttin

Hi. Is there a chance to add the water tank so the water needs to be refilled for the engine to continue working? Similar way how distillery works. In this stage the mod is a little bit overpowered and able to power two halve hammers just on the peat.

Chrissi, Sep 9th 2025 at 6:16 PM

I like this mod very much. It feels in the right time and place. But could you please add a Sound for the Engine? This would be so cool :D

webp_Inept, Aug 30th 2025 at 9:25 PM

Are you working on a 1.21.0 version? Love this mod.

Kalonie, Aug 9th 2025 at 4:30 AM

not sure if its a bug or a problem with other mods Im using but the engine goes max speed no matter what fuel i use

William_Marshall, Aug 7th 2025 at 12:45 AM

Hey there, gotta say, really cool mod. Making windmills is quite a hassle for me. I've always resented windmills being the only way to access mechanical power in vanilla, considering there are other ways to make power like water wheels, livestock power etc. (Unmodded at least.)

I appreciate having a light weight mod to present an alternative. Though I'm thinking that maybe it should require a blueprint bought from a trader or require being a clockmaker to craft. Maybe it does break at times and need replacement parts? Having to pay a small price for the increased convenience seems fair.

Either way, thanks for the mod. It saved me a lot of wrist strain banging out plates.

wael6, Jul 12th 2025 at 2:57 PM

Darkwhip copper isn't that soft lol, theres no way it'd break in mere minutes

Corenttin , Jun 13th 2025 at 9:21 AM

Arthopleura Yes the new electricity mod is supported too

ASpy Darkwhip Your ideas are interesting, I will take them into consideration for a future update. 😄

Arthopleura, Jun 7th 2025 at 6:31 PM

Very interesting mod, and i see (kinda expected tbh) compatibility with electricity. But does that includes the new electricity mod ?

Corenttin

Darkwhip, May 28th 2025 at 9:29 PM

This machine uses copper ? o.o
Copper is such a soft metal this thing would break in minutes and few uses.

Gameplay-wise, this should at least be iron age in my opinion but the mod itself is very interesting.

ASpy, May 28th 2025 at 6:10 PM

This is a great addition to the game and the mod is well done. I think with a balance adjustment to the default settings, the idea and quality of this mod could make it one of the essentials, but as it is now it feels too much like cheating.

The motor is way better than using a windmill in every way and trivializes mechanical power as soon as you have access to copper. I'm able to grind a stack of lime using only 4 pieces of firewood in just 2.5 minutes of unattended time. Maybe that performance could be gated behind steel, but the early copper age is just way too early.

I think about a quarter of the speed would be closer to good balance, but even then I still might not bother with a windmill. Maybe if it would crack (be destroyed) if it got too hot so you have to manage it, or if it heated up really slowly so it's only any good for processing big stacks, then it would fill a bit of a different niche than the windmill instead of making it obsolete before you even get one.

Criticism intended to be constructive, because I think the idea is great and so close to being one of those "why isn't this part of the base game?" mods. It's just way too strong by default.

SuperTeeJ, May 24th 2025 at 10:01 PM

Is there a way to edit how quickly fuel burns in the engine? We have a mod that increases the burn time of everything by like 10x but it seems like the stirling engine is unaffected. We wanted to nerf the speed it works at but boost the duration so it gives more to AFK automation while you're off in the mines or something and then come back and later see the stuff is done. But now the fuel burns so fast we have to basically babysit the thing. Is there a way to fix this easily?

Goldkin, May 9th 2025 at 8:21 AM

Hey there! We've really been enjoying this mod and utilized it heavily in our new server.

However, we discovered a bug that's significant but hopefully isn't too terrible to patch. When attempting to break a built stirling engine with a pickax, it splits the block in half, effectively duplicating the engine. Furthermore, breaking the split block when it's sitting on something also breaks the block below it, which can cause unintended side effects for certain blocks.

I suspect that the fix is to treat tool breaks like any other break of the block. We'll likely patch this ourselves for now, but thought I'd mention it so it got back to the main mod! Thanks!

Tisajokt, Apr 14th 2025 at 4:59 PM

Greatly appreciate this mod. Any chance we could get a config file to adjust the power of each fuel?

RowanSkie, Apr 10th 2025 at 3:34 AM

The Stirling fluid chamber is made with fire clay

Leper_King Luka

Leper_King, Apr 10th 2025 at 1:02 AM

i cant seem to find the stirling fluid chamber inside of the clay forming UI?

RowanSkie, Apr 9th 2025 at 11:19 AM

Ooh, emergency power. Now all we need is a battery of some kind. Maybe even a pulley system?

Luka, Apr 9th 2025 at 7:17 AM
I have no possibility to form the engine under clay molding...the two small parts are there.

I think it's great that it's made of clay...so you can build the engine quite early...thank you very much for that

VaelophisNyx, Apr 9th 2025 at 5:49 AM

its back baby! lets gooooo

also please don't lock this behind the late copper age, access to power earlier is so helpful

DilanRona, Apr 9th 2025 at 1:26 AM

Tried it, and it puts the vanilla rotor to shame.

Phinxter24, Apr 9th 2025 at 12:35 AM
It works well, thank you. Maybe it wouldn't have been better to use copper instead of clay?
