Recommended download (for Vintage Story 1.20.12):
CompostTweak_1.2.3.zip  1-click install

Changes the compost time from 20 days down to 5 days and doubles the compost you get.

You can also now seal the barrel with any amount of rot.

You can now also compost different things.

Rot - 2 rot = 1 compost - 5 days.

Dry grass - 4 dry grass = 1 compost - 10 days.

Thatch - 4 thatch = 1 compost - 10 days.

Low fertility soil - 8 soil = 1 compost - 10 days.

Medium fertility soil - 8 soil = 1 compost - 10 days.

Currently working on adding an animated composting mechanic to accelerate composting while being interactive.

Any suggestions are welcome!

Gikame Just to clarify, 1.20.10? or 1.20.1?

💬 PureWinter, Jun 19th at 2:01 AM

I love this mod.

💬 Gikame, Jun 14th at 4:12 PM

Is there a chance that you could make this mod for 1.20.1? I know I know. "Just update you foolish person". I just have other mods running too. And I am always so afraid to do this on the spot cause of how it used to be in Minecraft where a simple version switch can break so much.

If the answer is no, all good. No hard feelings.

Thank you for this.

Someone understands gardening! Yes, raw leftovers are ready to use in about a week, and are about half the size of the original pile due to settling. At least in summer. Winter takes a little longer because the middle stays too cold to heat and ferment. Thank you!

Guimoute I've done compost IRL for my backyard tomato/bell pepper/basil farm. It takes approximately 5~10 IRL days under constant hydration to form useable compost, not almost an entire month.

JakeDaFakeCake I am pretty new to modding this game but I will see what I can do. For now if you really want to change things you can unzip the mod and open the json file/s with any text editor and then save and rezip the modinfo and folder that were unzipped.

Foxtrot88 I'm glad this is helpful to you. I found that it was just too long compared to other things in the game too.

💬 Guimoute, Mar 31st at 3:18 AM

Foxtrot88 That's how it is IRL. You make compost over the whole winter with the waste from the spring and summer.

hey, i'm rather horrible at modding so i'm unsure how easy or complex this would be to do but a config for the duration (and possibly output) could be nice. Either way thanks for your addition to the quality of life in this game as the wait for compost is rather ridiculous.

💬 Foxtrot88, Mar 27th at 6:42 AM

God bless you, it's ridiculous that compost takes SO LONG in game to the point that you might as well be in winter by the time you can get yourself compost, and farming halts to a stop. This makes it far more tolerable and useful, thank you SO MUCH!!
