So far a WIP, but all current additions are usable. Mostly an educational exercise for me.
So far adds 2 new tools.

  • Clay Cutter: This will allow you to get usable portions back by de-crafting raw clay bricks via shapeless recipe.
  • Sickle: A stone-age tool good for clearing vegetation, and is usable as a mean weapon in a pinch. Used to clear shrubs or shave leaves off trees at higher speed during the stone-age
Includes variants for all knappable stones, with bone-handled versions.

More to come in the future.

Idea:A tool for making (raw)clay shingles crafted using a knife(as a tool), flax twine, and 8 sticks, raw shingles could also get a recipe to be turned into raw bricks for recycling them back into clay with a slightly tedious process

Yeah i agree a new name for the "crook" would be helpful to avoid confusion.

Though i belive another mod has a hand saw that can be cast in a mold that does the same thing as a "Arbor Saw".

I replaced version 1.0.0 because there were some trash files left over from when I combined my clay cutter mod with the crook.

Also changed the name to Sickle. 😉

I am open to changing the name, I might give a bit of research into the tools you mentioned.
I set out to make it a sort of adventuring tool, capable of self defense but mainly intended for clearing the birch shrubbery that I encounter far too often while exploring.
I intended for it to give a movespeed bonus, imagining it was some kind of hiking cane mixed with a sickle or machete.
Also partly inspired by warpicks, which I had recently seen a video about their efficacy as a weapon.

As for the clay cutter, I was sitting on that idea for a little bit, originally just using a flax twine to cut clay bricks but It seemed too rudimentary. I just ended up sticking it in with the crook to save it being a one-tool mod basically.

Thanks for working on something like this, it was super tedious doing all the branch trimming with something as short-reached as a knife of all things. Maybe the crook ought to be named an "arbor saw" or "arborist saw" since its design and function are a clean fit? Crooks are effectively hooked staves used to pull sheep around by the neck or collar, or sometimes used to tug down fruit from trees.

Seeing the other comment, I think I know the mod that spawned the crook idea, lol. It was a really nice alternative to wasting sword durability.

Thank you for the ideas 😄
I wasn't sure on the name for the item. I remembered something called a "bone crook" from a Blockgame™️ mod pack I used to play, so that's where I got the name from, but in that instance it is just a long-handled sickle in appearance.
It has a similar role in destroying leaves in that implementation too.

Your "crook" i belive is called a "sickle". A crook is used for sheparding. Like in the shepherd mod.
If you are up for ideas for more tools here are some ...
- Bone Saw
- Walking Stick (increaes you movement speed when equiped)
- (a polearm that uses antlers)
Thanks in advance!
