I personally started the project by making all the vsmc models and animation assets, thereafter trying my best to direct the project by delegating tasks across the team of people that helped me make it!
The models i did not create were the coracle buildstage boards (included in the t2 shipyard) and the rowboat built into the design of the T3 airship. both of those models were made by freakyuser396!
My absolute biggest appreciation goes to the following legends!;
TygrysT! : Helped lay some of the groundwork for the work environment and has helped at times midway through the project!
Pal-5000 / hYPERION! : Responsible the majority T2's inner workings similar to his Jonas Boat mod! He's also done the particles, its fuel systems and interactions, shipyard placement logic, and wiring up custom animation managers for both ships and the pilot animations, plus general code assistance across the mod!
DarthSack! : Responsible for the built-in wind system & the T1 inflation/deflation animation state machine as well as miscellaneous bug squashing!

Tier 1 balloons (hard to justify calling it anything more than that) are basically useless in their current state.. no real way to control them. All that time and effort to build and you basically just get thrown around like a leaf. Please make these more useful.. perhaps they can move slower than the tier 2 and have less storage etc.. but they still need to be controllable for direction etc.
hi ,great mod but the amount of coal it consum is to much , can t it be config to consum much less ?
This mod is incredible from what I've seen. Something I did notice that did cause a bit of friction is how a couple recipes and components in airship construction eat entire tools. While they are copper it feels a little silly how an entire copper saw for example evaporates as you use it in the process. I do understand that the construction process uses a similar system to the sailboat constructiuon system which consumes resources entirely in the process. Just wanted to give some feedback on that front though. Overall though very nice mod!
A schematic diagram showing the total clearance in blocks for all types of airship would be useful. What is the footprint on the ground? what is the footprint at the longest and widest point of the "balloon" section, how tall are they? etc
Curious, is the mod safe to remove freely from an existing world? Wasn't sure with the built-in wind system
OMG this mod is sooo fun for VS! Gives extremely awesome late game goals with the hard work and satisfaction to match.
First of all this mod is fantastic and I absolutely adore it - but I do have to ask, is there a reason for the specificity of materials? Why tin bronze or black bronze nails and strips for so many things? Why isn't iron acceptable?

I absolutly love this mod so far, i recently used it to transport myself and friends to one of the larger Better Ruin locations. My only feedback tho is fuel consumption. It feels a tad high, the trek from our launch location to the Sunrift Experience was about 10k blocks and cost a fair few stacks of charcoal. I don't think it should be reduced by much, maybe by like 25% as i feel 50% would be too much. I'm also really looking forward to the T3 addition when it comes as we've a sizable group and would love to all travel together.
could you see if making a cabin like a full on modern day blimp is possible (and even it you cant move around in the blimp. it would be excellent if the blimp as a internal temperature that funtions like a car (it has to be running the engine for a couple minuts to work) along with a much bigger fuel tank and gear box a system that changes the gears between two boxes (one that takes out the old and stores it with a simular box for the input too) the engine should go through them in half the time with a giant boost to engine thrust (would look cool looking like a jet engine). and finaly having a giant furnace that both cooks and smelts while it runs.
along with maybe being a mobile spawn point? and provides armor points to anyone also inside the cabin (and a later update could make a automatic turret mount (even multiple) added after launch) point is to make it a mobile base against hostiles and weather (mabe make it rise to world height?)

question for ya, in the h-menu for the tier 1 and 2 ships it says the config lets you change the amount of fuild needed to soak the cloth to make it ballon cloth but i see no option in the config is this a bug?

@RIVVION I dont think I did this reply correctly..
I don't know if there are linen sacks anymore with the mod. I let maltiez know the issue on their mod page as well, if it helps. The server i played it on didn't have an entry for it in the handbook and the host couldn't find any even in the creative menu. He ended up needing to use an item give command to spawn it. Perhaps it may work to give airships a specific linen sack for building and not storage if normal sacks get disabled.
I apologize if this doesn't make sense, playing mods is my thing, I have no knowledge of coding
subtumaka I respect maltiez' work a lot so I'll do it, I'll see to it that the airshipmod has a dilligent little patch to allow the linen sacks from backpacks mod into the build stages.
Finaly an air tavel mod that looks great and fits well with the base game! I've waited for that for a while lol. Can't wait to use this for my next playthrough and that teir three ship looks sick as hell.
Mid building the air-boat and it asks for 4 linen sacks.
We also have the Backpacks mod by Maltiez which removes linen sacks, making that step uncomplet-able
EnigmaticStudent please note that the release video demonstrates that the Air-raft can be fueled with chopped animal fat or Rot. the Tier 2 can produce Gas from the Coal types.
RIVVION Well, for some reason, When i tried to fuel up the t1 airship it just doesn't refuel it. This just started to happen but i can fuel up the t2 just fine. It's weird since i managed t ofuel the t1 the first time on a creative flatworld and fly it around; also on a survival turned creative mode world too. Now for some reason, i'm unable to actually fuel it up with coal, but i can still put in the temporal gear in it, it just won't let me fuel it.
can you make it so you can be able to place the tier 1 into the tier 2 storage slot RIVVION thank you have a nice day

RIVVION just found this mod, and it looks awesome! Saw your comment from last March about adding looms and such, have you seen Age of Flax and Immersive Fibercraft? the first adds more detailed flax extraction and a spinnijng wheel, and the second adds a loom for linen.
Latest version 1.0.3 now has the ingredient name fixed for buildstage 19 of the Tier 2 Air-boat, Sorry about that!

SrJynx and Ninoki, the reason we set it to use 1.21.6 was that it was the version we used for testing, there is a pretty good chance that it can work for more versions, it's just that we haven't tested them
edit: I just scrolled down, yep we'll need to change the modinfo, for now as a work around, just clear the "dependencies" dictionary or change the dependency version to "1.21.5+"
I have the same problem like SrJynx. I have game version 1.21.5 and tried version 1.0.1 and 1.0.0 of the mod, on both is the same problem
I may not be an expert, but I checked the file out of curiosity and I think the problem is in "modinfo.json"
I changed it to 1.21.5 and it seems to work fine. When i build the first ship the building area with lectern didn't disapear and i can build another ship. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be like that.

Hello, this mod looks amazing, this is a mod my friends and i would love to add to our server, the thing is we have the 1.21.5 version of the game, and although the latest version claims to be compatible with it too, it doesn't work for us, as the game tells us there is a dependency, which is the 1.21.6 version of the game.
GermanKursk I've updated the mod and included the 1.21.5 toggle, please give it a try!
add a mooring to it so u can attach airships to eachother with rope or dock them.. and maybe make a Cargo version of the Raft to attach to air-boats.. also would be cool to be able to colour the balloon.
I have been following this mods development for awhile and it is truly amazing see it come to fruition. My friends and I on the server I run have been looking forward to this mods release with great anticipation. Only issue is that our server is on the version of 1.21.5, is there any way to backdate the mod to that version? I understand if not.
STF are you using a mod that increases recipy durability costs?
If so that could be the reason that the recipy is failing to craft, as we are using a work around for the current version of the game that lets us not use parts of the craft, we are setting some of the items to "istool", and setting the durability cost to 0

If I might make a suggestion, this needs a list of what is needed to build the airship somewhere. ALSO. Temporal gear vanishes after 0 seconds. So... How you do this?

well i wont have to much of a problem with the brown coal. theres tons just north of base camp. but lovly learnings. thinks for the answer.
forgo the question that was here about removal, i just dont play with the tool tips active sense i dislike seeing em.
lechkingofdead the tier 2 airship has something called a gasifier. it has two chambers for coal. the bottom one is lit and the top chamber is unlit and airtight. this will cause a real life reaction called pyrolysis where if coal is heated in the absence of oxygen, it will release the gasses trapped within, this is a crude lifting gas called Coal gas! and exists in real life!.
Charcoal is the worst airship fuel because it releases the least coalgas,
anthracite is a little better but also bad airship fuel,
black coal is good fuel because it releases a lot of coalgas,
brown coal is the best airship fuel because it releases the MOST coalgas!
These values are basically represented by how fast you have to keep feeding the gasifier to keep up with gas production for lift, so in the configs it's represented in flight time.

ok i maybe scrapping a oceanic ship for plans of gear monching coal guzzling airship. my one and only question? does coal type matter. because i have aenthicite laying around. and that shit burns for ages.
as for the bronze... i have a comanion whom is obsessed with the gold and i wanted the silver for mechinery. sense silver cables will work a thousend times better then normal copper.

How much would I have to donate for you guys to make a "Ship" mod? The models and style you guys did with the airships are just visually stunning. I'd love to see some Ships (Boats... the water ones) with this much detail, customisability and scale. The vanilla boat was a good start but I'd love to see different variants and just larger and cooler ships with your art style and vision. For example Fishing boat. Long distance travel boat. Full galleon type ships etc.

Calbain The black bronze hoop is to force people to find at least SOME silver and gold to unlock flight with, all airships will have this in increasing amounts per tier!

but yeah, the mod is amazing. The models and animation are wonderful and efficient, with every little bit making sense and having purpose; one can only hope the vanilla sailboats will one day receive so masterful a retouch.

Seconding the prior comment. Would love to see an airship with a cockpit or cabin. Not sure if it's possible to anchor non-seated players to vehicles in this game but would be cool if others worked on that.
Flying off a vehicle because you stood up or jumped is a little silly lol.

I like the reuse of the normal boat. It gives the entire airship the sense of a flying boat.
In case you are looking for more ideas further down the road, maybe an even larger (and or faster) and more expensive version, which could be inspired of the Grandcypher of Granblue Fantasy.
Endurance
I intend to make a seperate mod that adds three devices, a spinning wheel, a loom, and a vintage treddle sewing machine.
the spinning wheel would allow players to turn turn flax fibres or wool into slightly or abundantly more output in the form of threaded Twine
the loom would take that amount of twine and turn it into (more output) linen patches
and the sewing machine would turn that same linen into into maybe extra cloth!
at which point the cloth would be used for making the envelope. the fabric would still need to be coated with barrels,
However, the FARMING part of the Airship's construction process will be signifficantly lessened.
the spinning wheel, loom and treddle sewing machine would all be allowed to hook up to an axle for clockwork automation.
but for the reason of avoiding a problem that these machines would trivialize the rest of the gameplay, i want to make them Very VERY expensive to create.
not too expensive to not be worth it, but also expensive enough to make someone weigh their future path to either extra farming, or extra building!
