🍎 Hunger Matters 🥕
Make food important - even in late game! What you eat affects your strength, speed and more!
🌟 How It Works:
- Hungry? 😫
- Move slower (like running in mud!)
- Hit weaker (like punching pillows!)
- Mine slower (your pickaxe feels heavy!)
- Heal slower (bandages don't work fast!)
- Full? 😊
- No bad effects if you're 80-100% full!
- Eat the right foods for special boosts!
🥦 Food Types Matter:
🍗 Protein | Makes you full LONGER + makes you STRONGER (Mining speed, Damage)
🌾 Grains | Makes you full LONGER
🍓 Fruits | Makes you RUN FASTER
⚡ Cool Bonuses:
- Balanced Diet = Best Results! (Just like real life!)
- Example: Eat protein + grains to stay full longer!
- Special Boosts when very full:
- Up to +12% damage with protein!
- Up to +11% speed with fruits!
- +20% faster healing when super full!
🔧 Works With:
- "Expanded Foods" mod - works with LOTS of meals!
- Any other mod except "Realistic starvation"
❔ Pro Tip: Check your food stats using the new icons next to your hunger bar!
🔜 Coming Soon: Get hungrier when mining/swimming, better multiplayer support, Customizable difficulty!

Added
In general, take care to eat different food types - just like in real life, and fruits are totally optional, in future they'll also cause hunger rate to go down faster, as running will result in getting more hungry. | ||||||

Early access version, stable but primitive |
This mod conflits with Vintage AFK mod when Vintage AFK tries to disable hunger for players who are AFK.
Other than that, I love this mod.
This mod seem to be conflicting with the Hydrate or Diedrate mod. The max HP always changes and some effects overlap. Maybe some kind of cooperation is in order?

Please review
HungerOverhaul.EntityBehavoirDebuffs
Line 46
this.entity.GetBehavior().SetMaxHealthModifiers("nutrientHealthMod", 0f);
What exactly is this doing? In your earlier comment, you said you werent affecting max health at all.
I cannot find the method SetMaxHealthModifiers() anywhere in the base game code.
My guess is that its from another mod, and its removing all max health modifiers from modid: nutrienthealthmod by adjusting the modifier to be 0.
This sounds like a potental source of the health bounching issue. Another mod is changing this value, and you are resetting it.
Firstly, this right off the bat sounds like your mod isn't compatable with this other mod, as you are directly removing a feature from that mod. I belive that to be bad form.
Secondly, what mod is it? so we can test compatibility.
Oh, and not to sound to harsh, I love the idea and will be using your mod.
I've nop'd line 46 and testing it out, will report back when we have some data
Health bar still has issues. We don't use xskills
Looks like it might be incompatible with xskills
Hunger bar max keeps jumping around
hey, i don't really reccomend this mod. like others have said, there's an issue where your max health will fluctuate at weird intervals. if you ever want to uninstall the mod, your affected character stats won't change and will be frozen in place, meaning that you could be stuck at <100 walk speed forever, and afaik there's no way to change that stat manually.
i really like the concept, it just needs more polishing
I do not have any icons next to my hunger bar? Is there a way to see what buffs/debuffs i am affected by?
Would it be possible to greatly increase the satiety cap to simulate the longer starvation times from realistic starvation? Something like 100000 sat or so?
I like this mod a lot so far, but there's one issue: it spams the console with text like:
12.2.2025 11:25:27 [Server Debug] MiningMod: 0.11763927
12.2.2025 11:25:27 [Server Debug] DamageMul: 0.104292236
This renders the console completely unusable. I need to be able to monitor the server, and with this spam, I don't get the chance to see anything else. Can this please be removed somehow?
the only issue i have with this mod is that it doesn't keep the longer starvation times from the original realist starvation; other than that, pretty similar to terrafirmacraft's hunger mechanics
Hi, I really like the concept of your mod and would love to see it developed further. I also wanted to share a few ideas.
First, the issue I've encountered, as well as my players, is that the maximum health constantly fluctuates. I think this might be solved by reducing the frequency of these changes, perhaps.
It would also be great if the mod allowed customizing the amount of debuffs and buffs. For example, being able to disable debuffs and keep only the buffs, and if the player doesn't follow a diet, the debuffs will gradually approach 0.
Or, alternatively, lowering the threshold at which debuffs start, maybe after 50% hunger, and making the debuffs less impactful, so that they only slightly motivate the player to eat properly, without causing frustration.
Thanks and good luck!

/player [playername] movespeed [value]
yeah this issue genuinely bricked my world, I can't even outrun a wolf anymore.
this causes my max health to rapidly fluctuate between base 15 and my saturation level, aslo when I uninstalled it my movement speed is permenantly 75%. how do I fix this? and yes I know for a fact it was this mod as I uninstalled it and only it and the health fluctuations stopped. to be more clear I need to know how to fix the movement speed issue
Vegetables or fiber are good for the microbiome and digestion. Maybe foods give 0-10% more saturation when full of vegetables or able to eat spoiled foods with increased saturation?
The problem with max HP is not caused because of this mod as for now it wont modify max health - there's no such mechanism.
I have this problem too, I am not sure why, this mod modifies only health regen speed but it shouldn't make any difference
Okay, I was testing a bit more and ran into a more serious issue. When we eat and our max health increases, as our health regenerates, it resets to 15 (the default) and keeps jumping to the current max health. For example, if it's 19, it keeps going 15-19-15-19-15-19. If health reaches its max while stuck at 15, it gets locked at 15. If I use a bandage and recover up to 19, as soon as I take any damage, it resets back to 15. It might be a mod I'm using that is causing this issue.

It bases on hunger bar and nutrition bars, both matters
For example:
Having belly full of grain is better, than having 50% of your belly full with protein+grain+fruits
But the best results are when you're 100% full, and you have great balance of protein, grains, fruits
About Veggies and Dairy - Yes,
Dairy will just work as protein, but have it's own limits, so it will be worthy to eat both (I think I can deliver this update today / tomorrow with version 1.2)
About Veggies - I'd love to hear what could they give you? I'd like to make each nutrition type different in working, but would be great if it would be atleast a little close to real life usage - So what do you think about using veggies to improve your max health or health regen? Personally don't like changing max health as it's not very clearly to see how much more hp you have, but I think it may be logical usage of vegies
Is this based on your nutrition bars or the hunger bar? Plans for adding veggies and dairy?
Update if you didn't there was major update
No, you still die because of not having food, but in addition it makes you feel like shit
And no, nothing about long run, it matters what you have in your belly right now
So, if you are hungry you do not lose health like in the vanilla game but get debuffs to make the game harder right? There is some type of debuff if you have malnutrition in the long run and not a good diet?
