This mod has been abandoned.

I don't have the code for this mod anymore, due to a tragic incident with

my computer. If you'd like to reverse-engineer the compiled files and update

this mod, feel free to leave a comment and I'll pass the ownership to you.

I'm just not that into modding after all. All I did was create a couple of items

(clay slip and clay bundle), and pretty much copied the cheese cloth

behavior onto the clay bundle. If you know how to read and have pacience,

you can do it what, a week? You could do it in an afternoon if you already

know how to code. It's really not that hard, just take some practice and you

learn some useful skills in the process. Seriously, I think you should try.

The Pitch

Remember CandyCaprine's "Clay from Dirt" mod? They commented they'd

like to make it more involved then a simple barrel recipe, adding some steps

in between to make it more immersive. I thought that was a great idea and I

got tired of waiting, so here's my first mod.

How does it work?

Like cheese.

  1. Add water and soil in a barrel in a 25:32 ratio
  2. Seal it for 24 hours
  3. Take the clay slip out of the barrel by Shift+RighClicking it with a linen rag
  4. Squueeeeze
  5. ???
  6. Profit

Thank you, guys

Special thanks to The Insanity God, SpearAndFang and pizza2004 at

VS Discord server for sharing their knowledge, time and patience while I

learned to make this.

Crashing on 1.22.4 😔

This mod is both practical and reasonable. I hope it can also be used in version 1.22.

这个模组既实用又合理,希望能在1.22版里也可以用上这个模组。

working in 1.21?

I like this mechanic. I would love to see this expanded on for clay dug out of the ground. For instance, if a player uses clay straight from the ground, the molds have a high tendency to break after use. However if the clay goes through the process in this mod, the molds last longer.

@jayu thanks, I didn't realise it was drafted. Sorry for the delay, I wasn't playing much

jayu, Apr 7th 2025 at 11:48 PM

Hey, is there a reason this was drafted? Is there an alternative?

Hola! Does this work with the most recent stable? I do apologize in that I know I could test it myself, but I rarely play without my server, and I'm afraid they would be rather unwilling to allow me to test.

One way or another, thank you for making this - your time and effort is much appreciated. Modders make a phenomenal game even better.

That sounds like a solid idea, if needed I believe it could be possible to let Wet Clay as an item be liquid and add calcinated flint or ??? to it in a barrel to output the other types of clay before bundling. Whatever works easiest in the code, I don't know what black magic goes on behind the screen.
As for what ingredient "???" could be, I think the stricter, more realistic approach would maybe be powdered iron, but that is a greater resource cost to an early to mid game player than could be feasable, so for the sake of gameplay it could be claystone sand or something akin to that.

It's ultimately whatever works in the end, don't mind my yapping too much.

Cheers,

Thank you Sell !

I'd like to make it more realistic, but the barrel recipe only has one output. As soon as I've posted the mod I had another idea to make it more realistic..

  1. Soil + Water -- 12h in barrel --> Mud (liquid)
  2. Mud + Grass -- in barrel --> Wet clay (solid)
    1. Wet Clay + Linen -- crafting grid --> Wet Clay Bundle (Blue)
    2. Wet Clay + Linen + ??? -- crafting grid --> Wet Clay Bundle (Red)
    3. Wet Clay + Linen + calcinated flint -- crafting grid --> Wet Clay Bundle (Fire)
  3. Squeeze

Let me know if this looks better and if you have any suggestions!

Works great so far, no issues with a full stack of both low and medium fertility soil in a full barrel. It's convenient that it only has to be sealed in the barrel once, but I thought it might need to be sealed again before squeezing dry. Great work on your first mod, very handy addition.
Cheers,
