RustWalkerMail — v4.0.0

ok so this is my RustWalker armor set — like… apocalypse scavenger vibes, built from salvaged parts and pure stubbornness. it’s meant to feel like you cobbled it together out of wreckage + hope and then just kept walking anyway πŸ˜…

important: this armor is built off the vanilla Black Guard setup (same “find/repair/condition tier” kind of life), but reskinned + reworked into my own RustWalker theme. it should follow the same “broken → damaged → pristine” repair flow (i’m still testing the lore/loot flow long-term, but the tier behavior/perks are fully set). (side note there is a schematic for those that want to skip the lore part)

also i prefix it with zzz because it needs to load late due to shaders / effects / perk overrides doing their thing.

the set + perks

RustWalker Cowl — RustVision

this perk lets you see into the “realm of rust” (aka night vision but with extra flavor). good for caves, night runs, and general “why is it so dark and why is something breathing near me” situations.

  • it’s light adaptive (it chills out in daylight so your sky doesn’t turn into a tangerine techno rave lol)

  • ground fog particles that trail behind you and dance around your feet

  • the world looks more decayed/withering when you’re in rustvision

  • entity aura system so you can actually spot creatures at night without squinting irl

toggle with N

(big inspiration + renderer base came from Dark Vision — it’s a dynamic darkness adaptation shader mod and the source is GPLv3, which is why i’m shipping source properly in my download.)


RustWalker Mail (body) — Ferrous Echo

this is the “metal sense” perk. it can scan underneath you and ping when it finds metals. super nice when you’re exploring and don’t want to play “guess where the ore is” for 3 hours.

  • comma = manual scan

  • passive scanning while roaming (when it finds something it does a little charm sound)


RustWalker Greaves (legs) — tiered speed + tiered fall reduction

these are your “brace the fall / run for your life” legs.

broken

  • +10% move speed

  • 25% fall damage reduction

damaged

  • +18% move speed

  • 50% fall damage reduction

pristine

  • +25% move speed

  • 100% fall damage reduction (yep… full negation)


RustWalker Mask — pacify predators unless provoked

this one’s my favorite because it feels evil in a polite way 😌
predators won’t start it while you’re wearing the mask…
but if you hit them / mess with them, they’ll still absolutely clap back.

so basically: passive intimidation, not godmode.


RustWalker Scarf — Shroud

this is a detection reduction perk (stealth-ish).
there’s two versions because i wanted options:

  • a clothing scarf version for the body

  • a reinforced scarf that drapes over armor

(i might swap this perk later since the mask already does some “leave me alone” energy — but for now it’s staying, and i’m open to ideas)


RustWalker Boots — Springheel Jack

jump like the dickens. really good for spelunking and panic parkour.

(and yes, if you’re thinking “wow fall damage could suck with this”… that’s why the greaves exist lol)


RustWalker Gauntlets — Mining Momentum

every stone you break with a pickaxe makes the next one faster, stacking up to 5.
it’s simple and it feels so good once you get rolling.

hey folks getting ready for the 1.22 update this is eventually gonna be posted for use on there soon. Just figuring out some of the new stuff in the update.

do people want the particles havent heard much feedback on this i love it but if people dont like it I can make it a toggle hotkey also was thinking about adding a hot key for darkness settings like how much you want my rustvision to activate probs be like a 25 percent 50 then 100 percent toggle to see in the dark jsut in case people want to add a bit more customization and realism to this night vision perk like if you just want to see only a little bit better at night 25 percent would be mostly dark still probs just lighting up the stuff directly around you and the entity auras would help hunting at night but ya let me know if anyone wants this im all for realism hahaha and people arent owls so makes sense lol its why im making my HD realism mod pack haha :) let me know what you guys think but ya i was playing with it a bunch and afte a while the particles do get to be a bit much they should shut off in caves it does a overhead check and turns off if there is a roof above you :) but ya if anyone has any feedback or issues let me know i guess no news is good news???
