This is my first mod so would be nice to hear all opinions or ideas :3
Welcome to Re-Alloy!
Idea of the mod is to add metals that won't impact drastically on how player plays the game after getting steel!
A little inspired by More Metals by Minni6in and by other metal mods!
Works on 1.19.8 (and probably lower) but you CANNOT make any recipes that requires cooking pot.
My other mods:
Hatrune's Classes
Gildening Tools

But maybe there will be someone who would want to make compat on their own, would be very helpful, well not yet because i have plans on moving some stuff in Re-Alloy so might break the compat later on.
ThatOneLass
I personally and my friends who i always play with didnt really like Combat Overhaul so i havent made support for it yet, but knowing a lot of people would want it ill try making it whenever ill have time for that
What does the compatability with Combat Overhaul and submod Armory look like?
Recommend adding a dependance on Expanded Matter, so you can leaverage their items (such as crushed temporal gears and temporal dust)
I see, i'll see if i can do anything with this problem. Thanks for checking it up!
I tested it myself and it really works normally, it seems that another mod broke it. I did some tests and it seems that the problem comes from Geology Additions😅
Dalet
Weird cause i am using 1.20.11 and i still didnt see any major problem...
Jasper_Steele
Can i get a log with this error? Trying to figure out how to fix that :D
Mod is still not finished so thanks for patience!
Jasper_Steele
Ow im sorry that this happened! I'll try to look into that but whenever i was creating a server it never went into a loop loading but i did seen some errors that didnt cause anything serious...
I'll try to see if i can fix that!
i have no clue if it pertains to me running1.20.10 instead of 1.20.11, but the new update has caused my server to infinitely loop a bunch of unresolved crafting recipes for a solid 25 minutes, and struggled for me to kill the server.
WolfWarrior
Thanks for the feedback!
Well because its still just 0.6.0 version of the mod i am sure it is not final product of the temporal steel recipe xD, so thanks for telling how it could be looking
I'll for sure dive into it deeper cause i do love to make it more realistic i was just messing around with stuff just for now
And i had in plans to keep mod independed from others so ppl wont have to install anything additional BUT ill be making support for other mods if stuff is similar whole time
Additionally im planning to move furniture and temporal steel as separate mods to not make people download so much in just one mod (especially furniture there's a lot of it)
Thanks again!! :D
🎊🎊🎊
those are some really awesome models.
I have some feedback on your temporal steel recipe. it seems like you just put every steel alloying element in there 😂.
oh my god I'm typing an essay I'm sorry 😭.
in reality with the given technology present most of those elements could not be reliably measured in small enough quantities to give beneficial effects, too much of some of these such as titanium would be disasterous to the alloy and make something unusable. the alloying components that can be added in large quantities would be chromium (10-18%) and nickle ( 5-20%) and manganese (usually up to 1.8% but we should go higher since the methods available to us in making this alloy are not ideal).
chromium is added to steel to make it corrosion resistant which is nice to have since THE RUST. though chromiums effects are weaker in higher carbon steels.
nickle stabilizes the austentite (an iron carbide in steel) and increases ductility and toughness.
manganese (rhodochrosite) going to be important here to lower the ability for oxygen to percipitate into solution and increase carbons and nitrogens ability to percipitate, while also bonding with sulfer impurities reducing the ill effect of those impurities.
finally we should get everything to as fine of particles as we can so when we blend and bloom them they'll mix alright. so temporal powder from expanded matter would be ideal.
mixing chromite with anthracite and blooming it produces a usably pure chromium, but would need to be worked to form an ingot or crushed to make a powder for the mix.
the blend probably ought to be bound together with a carbon bearing binding agent like resin then bloomed and worked lovingly into an ingot from it's spongy bloom. or poured into a clay mold and sealed off then bloomed in the mold and then blistered in the cementation furnace.
so for the blend I would go for: 1 temporal powder, 3 chromium powder, 3 nickle powder, 1 rhodochrosite powder, 12 powdered iron. for 1 blend that needs further prep to become the desired product. ExtraCode - Vintage Story Mod DB would be helpful for this by allowing you to make blooms and blister steel like ingots.
but anyway I'm so excited for temporal steel. I'm going to begin making an add-on for my vanilla armory to use your temporal steel and other alloys. 😃
WolfWarrior
Just getting slowly more motivation :D
thank u all for patience!
hope you come back soon, this mod is great and I'm excited for future updates.
KittyofPathos
hmm thats strange then, when i was testing i was maybe getting sometimes some errors or warnings but everything was working all fine
Ruyeex
or now im not planning on adding new metals so no idea if they will be there
This mod does NOT like servers, nearly every block added by this mod throws some kind of error.
Do you think we can add pig iron and sterling silver?
I can't wait for a full launch of this. I love having options and purple gold is absolutely pretty. I'll be watching for when that day comes cuz I'm absolutely adding it when it is.
Not (so) spear expansion has temporalit steel if you want to look into that for the cool temporal steel
TakeoTheWolf
Hmmm interesting well ill see if ill use it but thanks!
I was making some recolored armor for a mod I'm working on. I figured I'd make some recolors for the metals in re-alloy, only brigandine and chain though. drive link in case you want them. it would not offend me if you don't like them and there is no expectation that you use them. theyre really just a couple masks and filters applied.
thank you so much for that! will make it a lot easier to write a mod
TakeoTheWolf
Yup when in game settings in interface u have on the bottom developer mode option and after checking it on u got new Dev tab with extended debug info
with this u will see stuff in hanbook this way for example:
Rose gold ingot (name as before)
Page code:item-ingot-rosegold (location and id i think)
when its item that has its mod tag then would be smth like:
Page code:item-realloy:ingot-rosegold
or u can hover over an item and it will show more correctly what u need the shortened version just:
Code: game:ingot-rosegold
or
Code: realloy:ingot-rosegold
you can check Ids in game? I don't have to dig through files?
TakeoTheWolf
Yes! I had plans for armor the same moment i had for tools, just for those might take way more time if i want to make full custom models, especially that its goin to be for every alloy that is in the mod currently.
I could make for now some copy paste and custom stats and before 1.0.0 release custom models so might be earlier just probably uglier XD
And u can check that in-game with id's, but u gotta use game:ingot-rosegold cuz its added by patches into the game
do you have plans to add aluminum bronze armor?
also if I wanted to add an item in a mod I make that requires a rosegold ingot what would I use for the domain? would it be game:ingot-rosegold, realloy:ingot-rosegold, or would it be something else?
Gotchu, completely understandable, thank you for the reply!! Love the purplegold, looks awesome!
Keep on chuggin!
wojtek16
For now the idea was just to get some more decorative metals and few for new tools.
Mod got kinda bigger than what i had firstly in plans and to do list is pretty big so abt some special functionalities for some metals could be interesting but for now ill think over it especially im not best at programming and im just making it for fun cuz i always wanted some of those metals in the base game hehe
But yep maybe in the future!
Do you think you might add some special functionality to some of the metals? Just thinking out loud, it would be nice to add these variants, but it's a little much if they don't do anything special and just add variants, just wanted to see if you had any ideas for them for the future, would love to experiment :)
Actually there might be a lot of new compatibilities in future update be ready!
And because im not best at programming sometimes it might be difficult just on my own to make some support for other mods but i can try asking mod authors for that too!
Hydromancerx
i dont really see point of making support into Geology Additions cuz at current state my mod doesnt add any ores (except one in next update but even with it i dont think for now ill be making for this mod)
for CAN Jelwelry ill think over making support but for Expanded Matter in the next update there will be already some support for it!
Hatrune_Cubic
Yes pelase do add support for those
Especially CAN Jewlry!
Thanks!
Hydromancerx
Nope it's not, Re-Alloy is completely seperated mod from those u wrote down!
But i can try making some compatibilities for those if i'll be able to :)
Is this intigrated into Expanded Matter mod?
What about Geology Additions?
Also CAN Jewelry?
Have already noted that in next update it will be in my mod :)
@Hatrune_Cubic might be for the best tbh
jamescook
Well yup it is out of copper and aluminum, but from my research i was doing when creating the alloy both names are correct!
If needed i can just put in description of the alloy that it is also called aluminum brass so whenever in creative or handbook and searching aluminum brass u will be able to find it this way too
quick question. Aluminum bronze is aluminum and copper right? if so that's called Aluminum brass.
Well i have already changed the texture into "burnt" ones so no need for that but ty anw :)
Ruyeex
It was kinda ment to be this way but if u want sure why not!
The torch holders don't have a burnt part like the brass.
Can I do the job for you
JunidO
Yes! I had in plans to add tools in 0.2.0 but it got a little complicated so i realesed completed version and moved tools for hopefully another one!
And blocks are planned too its just enabling the recipe i forgot to do that :)
Will there also be tools and building blocks?
TakeoTheWolf Thanks! and thats interesting idea thanks for that too!
Valencrad Well for now im trying to keep my mod as close to real life as possible with skills i have but i can think of something in the future!
Wiuldn't mind seeing, even in an alternate version, fantasy metals and gear added :V Mithril and the such
😸good mod! I love purple gold!
also it would be cool to combine scrap (probably mostly iron oxide) with aluminum to create thermite to use as a high temp feul or source for iron nuggets since thermite creates molten iron as a byproduct when burned. just a thought, it could allow for alloying with iron in crucible.
good soup mod
Ruyeex
Well i have already added torch holders to the mod, but thanks for that!
And abt crucible there is a mod Melting Plus Plus: https://mods.vintagestory.at/meltingpp that adds new crucible with more space and smelts faster than normal one, just temperature are still vanilla.
Tho i have an idea how we could add meteoric iron alloy into my mod already so everything will be soon :)
There are some mods that can be helpful to add with:
Torch Holders: https://mods.vintagestory.at/moretorchholders
Steel Alloy: https://mods.vintagestory.at/steelalloy
A better crucible as a way to melt ores easier and to access more complex alloys
Also it supports Vanilla Variants except the doors which I could do it
I'll try adding it in v0.2.0 because i'm almost done with the goal for v0.1.0
Ruyeex
Ah yeah i have seen More Metals after i already started working on Re-Alloy, pretty interesting sadly outdated.
But sure we could try in someway collaborate with your mod by adding the way to make meteoric iron into it😀
I want to add my mod bcs it could be a way to collaborate the ratio of the process of making the alloy.
Since the mod is a more of a sequel to the More Metal https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/2164
My Mod: https://mods.vintagestory.at/meteoricironalloy
Feel free to add more ratios if you want.
Ruyeex you want to add your mod to my? or wdym
Can you add it with my mod:
https://mods.vintagestory.at/meteoricironalloy
10/10 adds uranium crocks
