hey all. still have plenty of more features to fit into the next update which will take another 2 and a half more weeks or so as my break from the scholarship is almost done. I've got more mods to push out other than this one that i think the community will need. maintime, please list any ideas or anything you may have for prospecting and i can take a look.

DemocracyOfficer , Aug 17th at 10:46 AM

jesus. soon as i brought out a patch 1.22.7 released. It should work regardless of update because the mode does not interfere with game mechanics.

DemocracyOfficer , Aug 8th at 3:23 PM

guys. new update will come possible later this month. currently prioritizing my scholarship and will have a break after the 18th of this month. the mod is very much stable enough and will complete the GUI option menu to select ores you want to filter to find, but until then, take care.

DemocracyOfficer , Aug 1st at 10:01 PM (modified Aug 1st at 10:02 PM)

v0.9  will be releasing tomorrow. make sure to remove your old mod files to prepare for the new release and delete your config file as stated at the top of the description.

DemocracyOfficer , Jul 29th at 9:39 PM

UI & sound will be coming in 0.9. This will take a bit of time working on this to make sure everything works. For now the mod is very stable. I have been using it myself in every scenario so far and no bugs on my end.

Zaelesh, Jul 21st at 11:34 PM

This feels cheaty, but also reasonable since vanilla propecting is so useless.

Only works on an 8 block radius, not much of an cheat. just gets you directly to it without aimlesly looking around lowering your durability on your pickaxe

If anything it should be a 1 block radius, since it shows you ore that you otherwise wouldn't be able to find

Zaelesh, Jul 22nd at 11:00 PM
@DemocracyOfficer: 1 block? might as well forget the mod.

I actually just found This that makes a lot more sense, it only points to nearby ones when you've mined a block, so it has more of a prospecting aspect and keeps durability a factor while serving the same function

mine is detecting my copper anvil and theres particles in the places i gathered ore bits (the deposits below were already mined previously)

Yea i realized as well. Gaurdian reported it also. Trying to get more bugs to fix when 0.8.0 release. Maybe another week or 2.

Scytheangel, Jul 21st at 11:43 AM

mine is detecting my golden wattle and daub fence and i already searched under it but there is nothing below it even installed the block overlay mod just to be sure and still didnt find anything below it.

Shouldn't be doing that. Thanks for the report. Once i get a few more minor bugs, i'll patch them up. Please make the report on my issue tracker on Github

I decided to install the mod on my server and one thing i did notice odd was when I held the prospector tool near my copper anvil particles started flowing towards it. I made a Bismuth bronze anvil and there were no partciles.

Really? I'd have to test this out. Thanks for letting me know. Also have you tried look underneat where your anvil is at that might be an ore underneath? If not then i will look into why its picking up the anvil. Make sure to download the 7.1 and remove your prospectorsinstinctconfig file to refresh it so that way it can regen and pick up new ore names in the file

I am using v7.1 on a fresh server started a few days ago. I picked the copper anvil up and the particles went away. I placed it somewhere else and the particles lead me to it again.

EDIT: I am infact using 7.0 I somehow missed v7.1 I'll test with that and see if it still has that oddity.

EDIT #2: I stopped the server, installed v7.1 on both client and server, deleted ProspectorsInstinctConfig.json from both client and server, then started the server back up. I still get particles guiding me to the copper anvil but not the Bismuth bronze anvil.

Faulkface, Jul 19th at 4:07 PM

does this work with salt? its working fine otherwise for regular ore. i just couldnt find a salt dome to test it on.

I have yet tested it, but i just made a release. try the 0.7.1 in creative. it this does not work. upload everything on issue track. also note that please delete your prospectorsinstinct config file so that it may regen a new one for the 0.7.1

This mod doesnt seem to work unless I am using it wrong.

Game verison 1.22.3
Mod Version: 0.7.0

I clicked the 1-click install button and the mod was installed into the mods folder correctly.
I restarted my game and there is no config file present in "ModConfig/ProspectorsInstinctConfig.json". (Note: Other mods I have installed have created config files in this folder so some mods are working.)

I see no way to make the partices show where a nearby ore is. Are the particles supposed to appear by just holding the prospector tool and standing near ore?

Hey @gaurdian let me help you as much as possible on this. Are you currently using this mod while playing on a server? if so you would need install it on that server as well. this gave me the same issue until i installed on both. If you are not the server owner, then possible you can ask the owner to install it for you. This will absolutely give me great feedback as this mod is currently still in the works until v1.0. Let me know if this works.

That is a bit disapointing if this is needed to be installed on the server for it to work in multiplayer. I was hoping this would only need to be on the client when playing in multiplayer. (I'm trying to add as little mods as possible to the server to prevent people from having to installing alot of mods to connect to my server.)

Maybe adding that bit of information to the description would sort out confusion for other people in the future.

good thing is that it does not run up any lag nor does it cause any issues in tick timing. i have it on mine. The information will be updated tonight after updating v0.7.1. If anything, i would recommend updating the mod on your server for now as this will be changing to multiplayer after i have tested it more and more.

On my server i have people using it with nearly 200 mods. People are REALLY not worried sitting there installing mods. Honestly, new players, spend less than 5 mins installing mods as mods for the game are not huge. Current players are only spending 10 seconds to install it.

If this is not for you, thats fine πŸ‘

another thing. this is also helpful as this is currently working for me on my server. connect to my server that i have posted and see if it works. if nothing, please click the issue report tab and send me your clientside main logs.

no feedback from anyone as yet. assuming the mod is working properly.

DemocracyOfficer , Jul 13th at 1:27 PM

New release will come this week. I have been cooking up for the next one that will be much smoother. Be on the lookout!

Mendall, Jul 12th at 8:35 PM

wow this is sooooo cheaty. this need to come with a massive down side like for fun you have to play as a mud golem or a dwarf to have such powers to smell the very ore in the earth. lol

JokoJose, Jul 11th at 5:13 PM

I think a more balanced way to implement this mod would be to have the particles appear only after the player actively prospects a rock and remain visible for just a few seconds. This would preserve the purpose of prospecting while still allowing the mod to function as a helpful visual guide, as described.

In its current form, the mod effectively replaces prospecting because the particles appear simply by holding the prospecting pick. There is no need to actually use the tool, which removes much of the intended gameplay mechanic.

Also, if the mod is required on both the client and the server, the installation information should be updated. At the moment, the description states that it is client-side only.

Finally, whether AI was used or not, it shouldn't matter, as the mod works. I don't see people telling a mechanic not to use computers to diagnose their cars... I wonder if those who are against AI still use Google and YouTube...

Hi JokoJose thank you for your feedback. I am currently working on having the mod to work on server side as there is more work to be done. for the mod as intended, this came from an idea to assist me in brainstorming as i have no sense of direction when it comes to finding ore. For a whole month in real time it would take me a while just to find the ores just to get to bronze. This mod helps to assist people like me. Compared to my friends who just find ore up to Meteoric Iron, i still lag behind. The particles are limited by range comparison to the prospecting node search mode up to 8 blocks without being overpowered. Personally, that fits well on the range comfortable enough to get directly to where you want to get. But i hope you enjoy it and i have taken your notes. I still have much to work on this.

I feel you; when my brother introduced me to the game, I didn't understand prospecting either. It took me a while to get the hang of it, even now i still lack prospecting skills hehehe

This mod will have to be uploaded on your server for now until more releases are pushed out. It is still a work in progress until 1.0. Talk to your server owner to install it and it will work. It work on my server (Andromeda Nation)
