Recommended download (for Vintage Story 1.22.7):
norandomchutes_1.1.0.zip 1-click install
- Vanilla's straight-path bias is unchanged
- Random Output
- Where vanilla would roll a random output (a T-junction or 3-way fed from above, or a blocked straight path): items are sent to each output in round robin order
- In Vanilla, if an output is selected and its cannot accept the item (chute with item already present or full container), the next open output selected gets up to 2 items. (1 item + 1 backlog max)
This means, that if a busy output is selected twice in a row or more, the chute essentially stops transferring items and only when we roll the open output, 2 items get transferred.
- With the mod, a blocked output is never selected twice in a row so throughput is always 1 item per tick.
- This means in the scenario when one output is full, the mod has a 1.33x speed up.on average
- In the case where no output is full, the throughput is the same.
- Idle Chutes
- In vanilla, When chutes are idle, they accumulate backlog and so putting in items for the first time will cause a chute to send 2 items one direction and then go to round-robin behavior with 1 item per output.
- With the mod, backlog is only accumulated when items are actively transported. The first item input into an idle chute will only send 1 item instead of 2 items
- Disable Bounce-Back (default: true)
- Items entering the side of a 3 way chute with the top or bottom blocked has a 50:50 chance of going back out the way it came in.
- With Bounce-Back disabled, items will never go out the way they came in on a horizontal bend
- This is especially relevant if you were trying to build something like this: Simple item sorter - Guides - Vintage Story
- In this layout, each time a item travels one section, it tries to enter the crate below, and if it can't, vanilla behavior has a 50:50 chance of the item traveling backwards or forwards so the time it takes for an item to get to the end is x(x+1) ticks where x is the number of crates.
- With the bounce-back disabled, the item always travels forward so total travel time becomes linear and a item never takes more than x ticks to reach the end.
Mod should work fine if you have adjusted the item-flowrate.

Fixed a bug where no bounce-back was not applied to 3 way chutes facing into a storage block that couldn't accept that item. In that vanilla case, the direction and horizontal movement limit is erased from the item so this version keeps track of the incoming direction separately so we can ensure the item always only ever moves forwards | |||||||
