luciosprospecting_1.0.0-rc.3.zip  1-click install

NEEDS Shared Utilities, install it on the server and on every client

prospecting normally gives you one reading at a time. this mod lets you survey a whole area and build it into an actual map. you collect samples in the field, analyse them at a table, and slowly work up to drilling for more detail. the trailer shows how that goes

each sample from a pro pick creates a vertex on the map; Drill core samples create a radius around them that is much more accurate, the deeper the sample, the larger the radius.

Vanilla prospecting is retained as the lowest tier of prospecting, to start using the mod's system, pair a pro pick with an assaying bag.

the map is an item, so you can copy it, merge it, trade it or lose it

made for 1.22.7.

compatibility

- vanilla ores and mods that place ore the vanilla way (like geology additions) just work.
- advanced geology works. anything it can't check yet shows up grey on the map until that terrain is generated.
- interesting ore gen works.
- mods that change what the pro pick does might clash
- if you add an ore mod to an existing world, areas generated before it show that ore as grey, since it was never placed there.

1.0.0-rc.3 luciosprospecting 155 4 days ago luciosprospecting_1.0.0-rc.3.zip 1-click install

1.0.0-rc.3

needs shared utilities 1.0.0-rc.2, so update both!

- interesting ore gen support (2.3.8).
- new "all ores" map view: every ore that reads high gets its own colour, and places with more than one show a diamond pattern. there's a legend in the corner, and clicking a region jumps to its strongest ore
- hold the assaying bag in your offhand and the map shows its samples and the regions they'd make once analysed.
- drill cores are retroactive: survey more around an old core and it fills in there, no need to drill again

- polished the drill animations.
- polished the assaying bag's look and animations.
- new vintage colours for the map, legend and node search, on by default. you can switch back to the bright colours in your own settings
- node search ore colours are now different for every metal

- new server option "PreciseDrillCores" (off by default): finished cores show soft, warmer spots leaning toward where the ore really went. cores finished before you turn it on get them too, and turning it off hides them again.

note for interesting ore gen worlds: surveys and cores made with rc.2 didn't record any ore there, and they stay that way. survey those spots again to get readings

1.0.0-rc.2 luciosprospecting 80 6 days ago luciosprospecting_1.0.0-rc.2.zip 1-click install
1.0.0-rc.2

- drills have 10x durability now. drills with less than 30 left get converted once
- quarrying: hold left-click with a drill on the side of a stone or ore block. it bores the 4 corners and the whole block drops. 1 durability per block
- resin taps: drill into a pine tree and hang an empty fired bowl under the hole. it fills up slowly, no resin in winter. servers can turn it off in the config
(These changes are meant to give drills secondary uses, making the tool itself more valuable outside of prospecting, more uses might come later, feel free to give suggestions).

- node search reworked: cracks the rock, shows what's close by / nearby / further off on screen, and leaves a record in chat you can hover

- advanced geology support - interesting ore gen is marked incompatible

Hi! I've install your mod on the existing game and when I'm trying to select node search mode on the pro pick there is no option to select (an empty square appear on the screen). Is it intended beacuse the mod replaces it, or is it a bug? You've written that "Vanilla prospecting is retained as the lowest tier of prospecting", so I thought I could still use pro pick's node mode.

Yes, node search is retained, just hold right click on a rock to perform it (without an assaying bag in the offhand), there are no menus related to prospecting anymore, when you do a node search, it shows you 3 distance readings at once.

I just wanted to say I liked the easter egg, it was incredibly funny to see that when I was scrolling through all the ores on my prospecting tab.😆

It would be cool if we could use the drill hole like a directional stone blasting charge. Like you would have to drill the hole, put some twine and blast powder inside, plug it with clay and lit with a torch to blow a small hole or something like that :D

Really cool concept. Tested it briefly and it worked mostly without any issues. Only problem i found was that to use drills i needed to do some weird camera angles. Looking straight at the face of the wall was not working. I needed to look at it from the side to make it work. I don't know if its works that way and it was my skill issue or my quite large mod pack messed something up but it was not big of a deal. Beside that your mod seems to solve all issues with vanilla prospecting i had. Great job.

Also do you mind to add option to disable liquid requirment for drill analysys? Just a matter of personal preference :)

Thank you so, sooo much for making an actual gameplay loop out of prospecting, this is awesome

Assuming this just uses the vanilla prospecting data - which is mostly just "this ore COULD be here" logic - be nice if it was for sure logic - like this area for sure has this ore here somewhere instead of it could be here.

- cool mod regardless

This mod looks fantastic! Very promising! Hope to see it compatible with Advanced Geology and Frontier's Map. Keep up the great work!

AG now has proper support, the ores show up where the heatmap would make you expect them.

I would like you to join the discord's mod thread to discuss with me how a Frontier's map integration would look like design-wise.

Watched the video. Still don't quite understand how this works. More details in the mod description would be much appreciated.

Does each sample from a pro pick create a vertex of the map? Do drill core samples create a circle around them that is more accurate? How does this work?

wow, this looks fantastic! the animation of the hole drilling looks great. can't wait to try this!
