I am planning to add some additional variants of course. Ebony is just the one that looked the prettiest to me and, as I believe I've said in another comment, I based the initial walls from some chiseled works of mine. So there's definitely room for additions.
I just also didn't want to make it so that the mod added 100+ variant blocks, though as I add more and more things that's inevitable.
TLDR: variants are coming for sure.
Side note: I was looking at some of the class mods that add recipes for Paper Lanterns and some people complaining its too easy, so I think I'll add in a harder non-class specific recipe.
problem: paper lanterns do not have a crafting recipe, making tōrō lanterns effectively unobtainable.
while a mod does exist for it, it'd probably be better to include one in the mod itself.
and a piece of feedback, walls panels need ebony wood which is supposed to be a rare exploration reward thats only available deep in the south.
not sure if thats intentional or not but it does seem rather expensive for walls, and pushes them very far into the game. maybe a few variants based on wood color for variety?
as for updates, i think as you do things is fine.

I just gotta reverse engineer how the cementation furnace and beehive kilns are done, at least if I want to add that drifter barrier
LilianaXolkiyroh yeah forgot to reply, but i think modular blocks would be the best! I would love to be able to build supermassive torii gates if possible. Could probably break the parts into the legs, flat gate piece, and the curved upper top? Whatever would work, and totally ok if its not doable. Appreciate your work!
One more thing—if you happen to catch me in the Vintage Story Discord, feel free to share screenshots of the mod! I’ll be using some to showcase it, since I’m not exactly a master of flattering screenshots myself.
Any screenshots shared with me this way will absolutely be credited to the original creator.
Also, I just want to say—I'm completely blown away by the response this mod has received. You all are the real MVPs here. Thank you so much!

I was planning on making a "half" pillar that just required you to saw a corner pillar in half.
I have a question for everyone. Should I only make updates when I add multiple items or would it be okay to make updates as I add each thing?
Love the mod so far, exited to see where you take it 😄
Funny coincidence that I was working on my Japanese stone lanterns at the same time 😅
Feedback on the corner pillar:
Could you make this be only 1 block tall?
It being 2 tall makes it difficult to fit in builds that are uneven number of blocks tall.

Torii gates are next up on the list for 0.8.6. Still debating if I want to make them a single block or if I want to make them expandable by turning them into pieces. What do you think?
In other news, I'm working on adding the zabuton cushions and some storage options.
Seconding Torii gates. Nothing would make me happier than being able to build shinto shrines and gates around the world for RP worship :)
JunidO
The Corner pillar pieces can actually be placed in a circular pattern to make a full pillar, unless you're talking about ones that have the top and bottom bits that spread out a slight bit.
metasynthie
I actually like a good portion of these, might throw up a poll to see if anyone else likes them as well as some of them might be a slight bit more technical. I had a lot of fun with the doors(partially sarcastic, partially sincere) and I know some of them would require a slight rework of the mechanics behind them.
The new blocks look fantastic!
If you want more suggestions I think the "rustic survival" vibe of Vintage story could use:
Obviously this is a lot but if you want ideas there are so many possibilities! Thank you for making this.
What about roofs and pillars?
Tetsune
It's been brought to my attention several times. I've taken to doing it myself so I know I won't have to reverse engineer a solution. Either way, thank you for the suggestion. I shouldn't be too much longer on the door honestly. It might even be ready the same time as the Byōbu.
If you're looking for help for the sliding door, there IS an old mod on here:

Looking forward to using this mod!
SeveredSkullz The server is running 1.20.10 is the issue.
Edit: Apparently they didn't update it even though they said it was. My bad.

Its quite literally telling you the server is running 1.20.7 - Your personal game client might be 1.20.10, but the server is not. Update the server.
Mod failing to load on server. Game version is 1.20.10

I am working on Shoji doors and a bunch of Japanese inspired furniture and cushions and even some various styles of Byōbu(the decorative painted dividers). And I'm always looking for suggestions.
This mod is a godsend with beautiful aesthetics, love how the tatamis look, and pairs so well with the japanese lanterns from Ape's lantern mod.
Really excited to see if there's any future plans to expand beyond shoji walls and tatami mats, like pagoda roofing, fusuma (or shoji) doors, etc.
Thranos
I'll be honest, I'm mostly using this as a stand in for the chiseled blocks that I'd based these off of, so I'm still trying to go between making it realisitic and going eith the costs of the original chiseled blocks. It's a tightrope, thats for sure.
I was under the impression that transluscent Shoji panels were generally paper, rather than glass?
Really cool mod regardless, will be keeping an eye on this. Traditional Japanese architecture avoiding load-bearing walls in favor of load-bearing posts and a ton of partitions was always something I found really neat.
Thank you LunaGore, I love the feedback I've been given. Honestly wasn't expecting this to hit off as well as it had.
New textures look great!
LilianaXolkiyr Maybe provide both versions for those who prefer one over the other? Kinda like when you press "F" to change the placement of slabs.
LunaGore Ohhhh, yeah thats my bad, I'm still thinking of it in terms of the chiseled version which you're kinda locked in. But yeah I see it now. If you think in terms of placing the frame pieces, vertical on the side pieces and the little vertical slats would be turned "sideways". I'll get to work on fixing that.
LilianaXolkiyr They mean the way the grain of the wood is going left to right vs up and down, you can see an example in your first screenshot.
AestasCalidi
It's in the works honestly, I just have to code in the sliding door mechanics and to be frank, my only other mod before this was a handbook mod, so I'm jumping outside my comfort zone. It is in the works though as I have a QPChisels version that already has both open and close states and the animation is there, as is the block itself. Just look for Shoji Door Panel in creative. Just a static block atm but it has a future.
DeanBro
Not entirely sure whatcha mean, I'm in the VS discord so if you tag me with a screenshot of whatcha mean, I'll look into it.
It looks great, but why does it have a horizontal plank texture and not a vertical texture?
Please add a sliding door and my life is yours.
Such a great looking mod, finally i can do my asian inspired mansion.
