Ever think it's dumb you can't make charcoal ink like our ancestors? Now you can! This allows you to create an ink and quill with charcoal powder as black dye/ink.

P.S. Thanks @Brady_The for fixing my horrible code yet again

2.0.0:

Changes

Sieves can now make paper/parchment from 4 cattails.
Campfires will now drop 1-3 charcoal.
Ink bowl now requires water.
Added a mod icon.

2.2.0:

Recipe to scrap books into pulp! Reduce reuse recycle!

Compatibility:
If primitive survival is installed, you can use cordage for making sieves and bark for making paper/parchment. I recommend using this along with ancient tools for the early access to wood planks.

Aloy Okay, the mod breaks general progression with the firepit, because you can literally game the system by creating a firepit with 1 grass and 4 pieces of firewood, remove the firewood and break the extinguished firepit.

You can literally create infinite charcoal by sacrificing 1 piece of grass.

You might wanna fix that.

Tested on 1.22.1. I only use this mod for easy parchmanet making. This works like a charm. Haven't tested the charcoal from campfires and ink and quill recipe.

Tested on 1.21.6. Mod works fine

Aloy

having both ancient tools and in dappled groves it crashes the game while opening the parchment page cause in dappled groves remove ancient tool bark and change it with it's own

Aloy Appreciate the permission to upload a separate version, I really appreciate that! Running a sever I have to have them on the mod database. I'll see too if i can make you a config file for it as I'm trying to learn more about modding myself and am getting involved in some projects.

crumps no clue how- just delete the patch .json for it and it'll prevent that- you can either upload it here as a personal version or just share it over discord or smth with other folks

is there any way you could put a config for removing the campfires dropping 1-3 charcoal? i found on my server its fairly explotable. all you have to do is put the 4 firewood into the grass firestarter on the ground, remove them, then break the now "cold" fireplace and it drops them. so its an infinite resource for charcoal. any way you could fix that or just give us the ability to turn this off via config?

thanks for the heads up!

Zuric it is not- also that mod causes manyyyy CTDs I don't recommend it- i'd suggest using primitive survival, ancient tools, and under tangled boughs for the same effect

Thanks for making the mod! Any idea if this is compatible with the bark from in dappled groves?
