Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.22.2 - 1.22.3, potentially outdated):
immersiverainbow_1.0.1.zip 1-click install
The first screenshot uses the Emotes mod
If you're upgrading, delete the SampleDistances line from your config file (or delete the whole config) and restart the game to pick up the new denser default or set it manually to [30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 195, 240], or other values. Only their count in the array matters. If you don't do this, everything will work as before.
This mod adds a simple physically accurate (as much as possible) rainbow. It appears during light rain on the horizon opposite the sun, or when you're standing right at the edge of an incoming rain shower. The Leprechaun isn't included.
Compatible
Anything that doesn't affect shaders or weather
Incompatible
Unknown
It's just a visual effect and has no gameplay functions. The config lets you customize most of the parameters:
Config:
General
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Enabled |
true |
Master switch. false = mod loads but never renders. |
RendererMode |
"A" |
Renderer: A = full-screen post-shader (richer, with true Alexander's band); B = lightweight arc mesh (fallback for weak GPUs). Changing it needs a restart. |
Trigger - when a bow appears
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
ConditionPollSeconds |
0.5 |
How often in seconds conditions are re-checked. Range 0.05-10. |
FadeSeconds |
5 |
Seconds to fade the bow in/out. 0 = instant. Range 0-60. |
MinSunElevationDeg |
2 |
Sun must be at least this high (°) - below it the light is too weak. Range -10…MaxSunElevatingDeg. |
MaxSunElevationDeg |
42 |
Sun must be below this (°) - above it the arc can't rise over the horizon. Range 0-90. |
SampleDistances |
[30, 90, 150, 240] |
Block distances along the anti-solar direction at which distant rain is probed. |
MaxLocalRainfall |
0.35 |
If rain on you exceeds this you're "not in the sun" -> no bow. Range 0-1. |
MinDistantRainfall |
0.05 |
Minimum rain in the anti-solar direction needed to form a bow. Range 0-1. |
RequireClearingRain |
true |
Require the distant rain to be clearing (a passing shower), not merely present. |
Rarity |
1 |
Frequency dial: >1 = more bows (relaxes the distant-rain threshold), <1 = rarer. Range 0-10. |
Visual - how it looks
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Intensity |
0.5 |
Overall opacity of the bow. Range 0-4. |
BrightnessCurve |
1 |
Opacity contrast. >1 makes marginal bows much fainter; 1 = linear. Range 0.2-5. |
Saturation |
0.5 |
Colour saturation; Range 0-1.5. |
SkyHarmonize |
1 |
Matches the bow's brightness to the sky (dims it on dark/overcast skies). 0 = off. Range 0-1. |
ShowSecondaryBow |
true |
Draw the fainter outer secondary bow (colours reversed). |
AlexanderBandStrength |
0.05 |
Darkening of the sky between the two bows (Alexander's band). Renderer A only. Range 0-1. |

More accurate rainbows: the sky is now checked for rain at more points along the direction the arc hangs, so the bow appears more reliably and sits more faithfully where a passing shower actually is. If you're upgrading, delete the SampleDistances line from your config file (or delete the whole config) and restart the game to pick up the new denser default or set it manually to [30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 195, 240], or other values. HAPPY PRIDE BABES!!!

ooooohhhhhh

Oh this is what you meant when you said rainbow
Fantastic!
Yeah, I needed a little distraction xD
Neat, base game already got things like aurora borealis and eclipses I'm a bit suprised they havent added rainbows into the base game yet.
Yeah, I'm surprised there wasn't already a mod like this - guess not many people actually need it xD
That's wrong, I most certainlly find this a need! Like Silent mentioned base game already does those to for ambience we NEED MORE! So thank you for this!
