So beyond the tongue and cheek, we're coming up on four years of Fauna of the Stone Age development and the most prevalent critique has been around drop rates. I dislike the philosophy behind the base game drops but I also want folks to be able to experience the game how they like and tweaking all 8000+ drop related values is a daunting task for anyone. To address this I've put together this add-on mod, being as literal in base game derived values as I can, even when the base game values don't really make sense. Each animal will have the exact drops of the base game animal with the closest weight to its own, with Carnivorans being split off due to following a different pattern than the rest. If this mod ends up getting used by enough people I'll cover the other clades as well in between working on my main projects. I'll also fill out the lists as relevant to projects.

This mod adjusts:
Meat drops, fat drops, the number and size of hide FotSA hides can be converted into, the amount of rot FotSA hides decay into, feather drops

Currently this mod adjusted values of the following:
Capreolinae
Elephantidae

I spent two hours tinkering with the files, trying to figure out which values for the male and female made sense, and driving myself crazy wondering if I’d changed everything or if some animal or resource was missing or being randomly. Never again.

Hello, thank you for the great work as usual but I do have some troubles while using the mod. Are the elephantidae pelts no longer able to be converted into huge hides with this mod? Is this a balancing choice or maybe me being a dummy and the option is there? Also the wooly rhino pelts show the hide recipe which causes a crash after trying to view the said recipe. I'm not sure if I'm just not supposed to use the modules that aren't adjusted yet or if it's some other issue.

Thank you in advance

Elephantidae pelts are converted into hides same as in the base FotSA, just the resulting hide count/size is changed. Almost all of them are closest to the base game moose, resulting in a single huge hide (ie.. 5 square feet of hide) You can find the recipe by checking the pelts in the handbook

Rhinocerotidae isn't yet covered by this mod, but I just tested it enabled while using this mod and didn't experience the same crash you described. It's possible another mod is causing that crash and I recommend doing a binary search to see which.

Hope this helps!

also, quick question, does this mod pertain to butchering in any way? ie, is the support built in, or would that necessitate another patch (with its own adjustments to the values)

thanks in advance

That I don't know. If butchering modifies the drops then it should be compatible, if it needs to have drops manually assigned it'll be whatever the person who made that compatibility patch assigned

Well, looks like enough folks have downloaded this that I'll add another. First reply decides which pack is updated next

@tommyisdead: hello, capreolinae please! thanks for the patch, seems like awful tedious work lol

Yeeeah, it's a bit tedious. Part of why I'm making it in batches so I don't slog through.

Capreolinae coming up though!

Hi, getting a lot of errors during world gen with this add-on that I don't get with just the elephants mod, also seems to be having no effect on the yields. I can't find the actual location in the logs of these errors, but someone already reported it on the elephants page I see.

You'll want to update the rhinos and pangolin mods then, that's what the reports from the elephant's page refer to.
As for yields, some have close to identical yields to what they were originally set at, like the baby elephants and pygmy elephant. A quick test shows me it's working with yields, but if you have any mods that patch the drop rate they may overwrite this mod
