Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.20.4 - 1.20.12, outdated):
firepitsheatovens_1.0.0.zip 1-click install
A relatively simple patch here! If you stick a firepit under an oven and light it up - it will start to heat it up! This lets you cook and everything with a natural looking oven, and fueled with any sort of fuel or burnables. The Firepit should also be functional for other matters or cooking as well, and still heat the oven above it! To get it to work, just make sure the Oven is directly above the firepit with no space in between, that's all!
This idea was commissioned by Red Eclipse! So I'm uploading it for anyone to use as well - and I'm considering tossing together a few other ideas along with this, maybe in another mod with config toggles and everything to better tweak what you do and don't want to play with. Not too much of a single theme there but more stuff that I'd probably like to see in the game! Or things that might be helpful for builders or the like, one thing being a way to mark a larger 'room' as a proper room and everything for those larger builds.

Initial Release! Runs as described on the description, though any other mods that might change the maxTemperature of the Oven will allow it to get fairly hot as well! | |||||||

update pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Still works in 1.22
This works in 1.21 just fine. Love the mod!
JonR since I think this patches on the oven side, any chance you could add compatability with the Stove mod?
seems to work fine on 1.21.6

To everyone who wants an update to this mod, Dana's Tweaks does this as well and still works for me in 1.21.6.

If you don't want any of the other things that mod adds, just disable them in the config file.
I truly hope this mod recieves an update in future versions, it was such a quality of life feature when I had it in the past.
For some reason, it works fine when 1st loading game but after a while, it no longer works.
Just have to log completely out and restart & it works again. Playing 1.21.5
they should impliment this ingame
accidentally stumbled upon ts, i like the idea haha
Any chance we see this updated?
Yeah it doesnt work for me eithr.
Firepits dont even heat the ovens anymore.
While using this mod, I have also confirmed that the firewood, after being ignited inside of the Clay Oven, does not increase the Oven's temperature at all, and just sits inside burning until it is completely spent.
Breaking the Clay Oven that contains the ignited firewood (which can be done with bare hands) before the firewood burns away completely, however, will still allow one to retrieve all the firewood and the Oven itself with no issue.
Even if you had a lit campfire below when breaking the Clay Oven, the campfire cannot burn or destroy any of the items that fell on it, though stepping on the lit campfire will still hurt a bit.
Firewood that has not been lit can be retrieved from the oven normally by right-clicking with an empty slot.
It doesn't feel TOO urgent of an issue, but I do suppose it counts as unintentionally removing vanilla mechanics? Otherwise this mod seems to be okay.
A3ther My furnace also heats up if I place a campfire under it, but that’s not the issue. Try heating the furnace the vanilla way — by putting firewood inside. The wood will burn up, but it won’t increase the temperature.
I specifically tested the mod in singleplayer after removing all other mods that could affect the furnace’s behavior, and the result was the same
El_Neuman I used it just now, works normally. Maybe you have some mod conflict? I just place mine above a fire pit and it's heated up to 300C.
JonR it's broken ovens on 1.21.5, can u update the mod?
A3ther No, you cant warm up oven in normaly way
1.21.5, working normally.
Doesn't seem to work in 1.12.4
I really love this mod, but it's vrije ovens in 1.21.4(((
It works fine for me in 1.21.1
I refreshed my mods and it works now, not sure what was causing the issue. Thank you!
It should be working fine on Vintage 21, I've been told! But I can give it a test myself possibly in a bit, I don't believe there should be any issues.
Will this work in 1.21?
Looking foward to the update. I love how the screenshots look, and really want to try this mod. Thanks for your hard work!
I know Dana's has this, but that we don't want to use that on our server. Hoping you will continue this one.
Love this mod!! Waitng for an update))
Hi JonR,
Would it be possible to get a patch for 1.21.0 :) ?
For further improvement, ensure that there is an upgrade to create an oven with heat transfer for cooking. I think that would be good :).
thank you.
Lostchildxo you might have another mod installed that interferes with the Ovens. General_JOE the mod is currently incompatible with all of A Culinary Artillery, not just the Expanded Foods add-on. Worked fine for me until I enable ACA, and then suddenly ovens are cold, disabled it, ovens are heating again.
Edit: Okay weird, the issue seems to actually be on anything that involves firepits or ovens. Fully closing and reloading the game itself, not just the mod list, fixes everything.
hi im having an issue where the mod isnt working, i put the firepits underneath and they dont heat the oven.
Could this be made to work with the braziers from Medieval Expansion?
Rythillian | Huh. I didn't even realize Dana's Tweaks had that in it until now. So as of now, I'm not sure it differs much at all! It seems like we wanted to do the same thing, so I figure it would function similarly.
How does this differ from DanaCraluminum 's Dana Tweaks?
When I'm running this mod, the heating via firepit works but the vanilla method of putting logs inside the oven does not.
Running it with expanded foods but not much else that should touch ovens
I also get the same issues as mavman88.
I also have to fully restart the game to fix it.
I'll try and post some more helpful information if I find it.
But I also have 70+ mods installed
I still love this mod, its super cool!!
mavman88 | Huh, that's peculiar, I'll try and look into it! Thank you for doing that testing and figuring that out! It helps immensely.
so my testing has founded that if i reload the world or save and quit it stops working and only after fully closing the game it starts working again.
Vibycko acwell | Yeah, sorry! It should be Expanded Foods that adds that.
mavman88 | If you can find a pattern or a way to re-create it, I can try and find a solution. But it might be something another mod is doing as well?
Vibycko It should be expanded food
Out of curiosity, how did you put meat and berries in the clay ovens? To me it says "Oven is full", when I try and put then in. Is it a different mod?
for some reason i can't figure out why this mod sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, it worked the first time i used it then all the sudden stopped and i was able to randomly fix it but now its back to being broken
Vibycko | Oh, awesome! Thanks for checking it out, and I'm glad it works too! It certainly should cook anything and everything that can cook in a regular oven - and I did use pies to test it originally as well, hah.
JonR I just tested in in singleplayer, and the QP Chisel tools are compatible with the mod, the firepit heat the "Decorative oven" and bread gets baked. Didn't test pies, but I'm sure they work too.
melboryu | Huh! I'm not sure. I didn't try to change that or anything on purpose, does it happen with just this and nothing else? I've only ever really used the Stone Bake oven myself (my beloved :P) and with this being relatively recent, I haven't been able to give it a shot in regular gameplay. I don't think having an old placed one should cause a problem if it still can heat up and everything from the firepit... but maybe try replacing it and checking?
Vibycko | I'm not sure! If the Chiseled Oven extends the regular vanilla oven and just uses the vanilla oven's code for everything, then it probably should work fine! I'd figure that is the case, but I've not tried it out yet, so let me know if you do!
Does this work with QPtools? Like, if you have custom chiseled oven, does the firepit heat that up too? I'd love to use this on my server, but I need to make sure it's compatible.
This looks like an awesome mod I had not even considered as an option for the game, will definantly need to see how it works with other mods I run.
Not only that, but coming from someone who likes to try to build big things and also likes the snow, I am excited to see what you do with making larger rooms more habitable!
this should be in the base game
Yesssssss! I was just looking around for a mod to make the vanilla ovens a bit more fuel friendly (why not let us use charcoal at least??) and this definitely takes the cake! Thanks a bunch!!
once the firepit under an oven cools down, the oven loses heat extremely quickly. is this intentional behavior?
(I'm using a firepit I put down after installing the mod, and an oven that was there before installing, if that might change anything . . .)
Michaloid | Haha, thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you find it helpful!
AcidNight | Larger doors? Yeah, it's certainly plausible to do, it's only that the more blocks that make up the door, the harder it is to sync it all up properly and everything as well as smoothly animate and open/close it. I've seen a few examples in other mods already of larger doors, but they are fairly specific like a castle door or drawbridge, or very realistic church doors. Certainly a mod with average medieval style doors would be wonderful to have! Also you could try making chiseled doors using QP Chisel tools!
Why isn't this basically possible to do, I want to ask xD
I should look into how to code a mod. One thing that bothers me in VS is that 3x3 or 3x4 doors don't exist. There's a life bridge or wall door in 3x, but it's not considered a door :(
You, are an angel! This is soo helpful!
