Figurines
Carve figurines of the game's creatures, cast them in metal, and hunt down the rare ones
The carving window - pick a creature and its pose
Carved in wood, cast in metal
Poses to carve
Collector's pieces - poses nobody can carve
For Players
Making figurines, casting them, collecting the rare ones and showing them off
What It Does
Every figurine is one of the game's own creatures, frozen in a pose and shrunk down. You carve them from wood, press them into a clay mold to cast them in metal, and find the rarest ones in blind boxes.
Bears, wolves, deer, goats, hens, drifters, shivers, locusts and more - every type, each with its own look, antlers and horns included.
Every creature can be carved standing, walking, running, or lying down (or the nearest thing it does).
Brass, copper, lead, molybdochalkos, tin or zinc - pour any of them into a fired mold. The mold can be used again.
Silver, gold and platinum figurines come in poses nobody can carve, and only from blind boxes.
A bear figurine stands taller than a fox, and a hen is the smallest of all.
Every trader sells a figurine of themselves, you carve animal chess pieces in your hands, and Dave is out there somewhere.
Four to a block on the ground, on shelves, in display cases and on Window Display sills.
Another mod's animals can be carved too - one file is all it takes. See the modder section.
Carving A Figurine
In the crafting grid, a knife and a piece of firewood make a figurine blank. The knife loses a little durability.
Place the blank and right-click it without a knife to open Figurine Carving. Search by name or pick a tab, click a creature, choose its pose with the arrows and press Select design. To change your mind, sneak + right-click the blank.
Hold right-click on the blank with a knife for 4 seconds. The wooden figurine stands where the blank was.
Casting In Metal
Clay-form a figurine mold from blue, fire or red clay.
Place the raw mold and right-click it with a wooden figurine. The figurine is not used up. A mold holds one design.
Right-click the placed mold with dry grass to start a pit kiln round it, then finish and light the kiln as you would for pottery.
Pour 100 units of molten metal - one ingot's worth - into the hole from a crucible. The mold's tooltip lists the metals it takes.
When the metal has cooled, right-click the mold with an empty hand. The mold can be used again, and an empty mold picks up with its design kept.
Collector's Pieces
Silver, gold and platinum figurines come in poses you cannot carve - a sitting bear, a howling wolf, a rearing moose. You only find out which creature you have when you break the box open.
Sold by the Treasure Hunter. Holds one silver or gold figurine.
Turns up in ruins, never sold. Holds one platinum figurine - a casting nobody knows how to make any more.
The Treasure Hunter buys silver, gold and platinum figurines, so a duplicate is never wasted.
Trader Figurines, Chess And Dave
Every trader sells a figurine of themselves, one at a time, and buys it back - nine to collect, one per trader.
A full set of animal chess pieces, carved in your hands: knife in your right hand, bone (white) or charcoal (black) in your left. Sneak + right-click picks the piece, holding right-click carves it. They sit on a Tabletop Games chessboard.
One of one, some call him the Thunder Lord. Nobody sells him - he turns up in the ruins, and the Treasure Hunter will take him off your hands.

Compatibility & Good To Know
Open the handbook and search for Figurines - the user guide covers carving, casting, the collector's pieces and placing them.
Figurines sit on vanilla shelves and in display cases. With Universal Display Lib and Window Display they go on window sills too, each one taking only the room it needs.
A metal mod can add its metal to the molds with one small file - with the Pewter mod installed, pewter figurines can be cast as well.
Any mod can add its creatures to the carving window. Each mod with creatures gets its own tab.
The trader figurines, the blind box and the buying of collector's pieces still turn up when a mod replaces the traders' stock lists, such as Useful Traders.
For Modders
Adding creatures and metals - no code, just JSON
Adding A Creature
Put a JSON list at
assets/<yourmod>/config/figurines/creatures/<name>.json. Figurines reads every mod's files at load.Point it at the game entity whose model to use, and pick a few animation frames as poses. The creative tab, the carving window, the size and the name all follow from this file.
Minimal example - a lynx from your own mod, two carvable poses and the three collector poses:
[
{
"code": "lynx",
"entity": "mymod:lynx-adult-male",
"poses": [
{ "code": "normal", "carvable": true },
{ "code": "walking", "carvable": true, "animation": "walk", "frame": 8 },
{ "code": "silver", "animation": "sit", "frame": 15 },
{ "code": "gold", "animation": "attack", "frame": 12 },
{ "code": "platinum", "animation": "sleep", "frame": 20 }
]
}
]
Creature Fields
| Required | |
code |
Your creature's id. It is saved in every figurine, so never change it after release. |
entity |
The entity whose model is used, e.g. game:bear-brown-adult-male. |
poses |
A list of poses. code: normal or any name for a carvable pose, or silver / gold / platinum for the collector pose in that metal. carvable: offered at the blank. animation + frame: the animation and frame to freeze at - left out, the rest pose. |
| Looks - all optional | |
attachments |
Items the creature wears, as the living animal does - antlers, horns, tusks (e.g. game:antler-whitetail-06). |
removeElements |
Parts of the model left off, by name. Default: eye, lid, sleep - eyes and eyelids cannot show in one material. |
size |
The figurine's longest side in blocks. Left out, it is worked out true to scale from the entity's own size. |
| Listing - all optional | |
name |
Lang key for its name. Left out, the game's own name for the entity is used. |
group |
The family it is listed under. Default: the code up to its first dash, so bear-panda is a Bear. |
category |
animal (default) or hostile - which filter tab it is under. |
enabled |
false hides a creature - a patch can turn off one of ours. |
Adding A Metal
Materials live in config/figurines/materials.json. Add one with a patch onto ours, or ship a file at the same path in your own mod. castable lets the fired mold take it - the code must be the metal's own, as in its ingot. The name comes from the game's material-<code> lang key. This is the pewter patch Figurines ships:
[
{
"op": "addeach",
"path": "/-",
"file": "figurines:config/figurines/materials.json",
"dependsOn": [ { "modid": "pewter" } ],
"value": [
{ "code": "pewter", "texture": "game:block/metal/plate/pewter", "castable": true }
]
}
]
Figurine Sizes
figurines:config/figurines/sizes.json sets how big figurines are. Each creature's longest side is its real size times scale, kept between smallest and largest (in blocks). Patch it to make every figurine bigger or smaller:
{
"scale": 0.12,
"smallest": 0.12,
"largest": 0.4
}

Changelog
Version 1.0.0A complete redesign - carve, cast and collect Old figurines do not carry over. Figurines, blind boxes, display cases, chess pieces, seraph and trader figurines and Dave from 0.3.x become unknown items in an existing world - trader figurines, chess pieces and Dave are back as new items. Stay on 0.3.4 for a world whose collection you want to keep.

Version 0.3.4Display cases from the figurine trader, the rare pieces made affordable, and the caravans step aside for Calm's Collectibles Updating From 0.3.3There is nothing you need to do. No block codes changed and nothing you have collected is affected A trader you have already met keeps the prices they rolled earlier until they next restock, so the new prices show on a fresh trader straight away and on an old one after their delivery New

This mod will be getting an overhaul soon:
More figurines
New mechanics
Removal of the custom trader
Excellent update! love being able to carve pieces.
What happens to the already spawned Figurines/Special Figurines Trader on the world? I got one right next to my base.
Thanks, glad you like the changes
If you are on single or an admin
/land info use this to check the claim while standing in the trader area
/land adminfreehere then you can break down the building in the area
Really love this mod one thing that would be cool is if you could paint the figures. Not sure how feasible that would be but I know there are mods to paint and stuff. Highly reccomend the place anywhere mod with this so you can place them how you want
I don't think it will be possible to paint them, if there is a way I would think it would be rather complex to implement and I just want to keep this mod simple.
Who Dave.
if you get your temporal stabilty down to zero and have your view distance set to 400+ you can see dave( a super masive rust thing known as a thunder lord if i remember right) looks like a rust girraff
This makes sense, guess i'm just getting unlucky or missing them then :)
Techmaid_Rachel I just tested first world it took me a while to find one and the second world I found a special figurine trader next to spawn. I will take a look and see if I can refine it a bit more, I want them to be rare but obviously not incredibly rare it's frustrating. Thanks, really appreciate it :)
I am not finding the traders at all after searching thousands of blocks, am i just getting incredibly unlucky or do the chances need more editing? Ty for the mod btw, absolutely love it <3
Huw I have changed the spawn chance and the distance so should be rarer to come across now. Let me know if it is better.
Also, not sure if this is luck but out of the 5 traders ive found in a new world they have all been figurine traders
Huw Fixed now, thanks for letting me know
Dont seem to be able to open boxes in the crafting grid
Yarro Thanks for letting me know, fixed in latest update
It looks like your basic trader carts start with their door and gate open.
AproxRambo They are not compatible. Useful Traders replaces the vanilla trader stock, so mine gets overwritten.
Is this mod compatible with the Useful Traders mod? Iv had Figurines and Useful Traders for a long time and have only found blind boxes in dungeon chests.
PureWinter Thank you, glad you think so π
Super cute!
Huw Most of them are sold by Traders, there are some special versions that can be found as loot, chess pieces are crafted
Are you able to find these as loot or is it purely through buying from a trader?
unHallowed That would be brilliant, Thanks. I am in the middle of making some more, not sure when they'll be ready but after the next update would be good.
I can certainly do a compat. update with these, they're so cute!!!
MrApothic I'll have to have a look at that mod as I've never used it. Would be cool, not sure if I can patch it tho. For now they do go on the shelves and into display cases
Do you think these little fella could be setup to work with Shelf Obsessed? So we can hide them in our book shelfs to give cute little details.
MrApothic I'll most likely be sticking with the animals etc. for now. Might be a good idea for someone else to make those.
luxferens Thanks, I am very much an amateur when it comes to modding so not sure how much help I can give, what are you thinking of making?
Very very nice. I've been wanting to do something similar but have never modded before. Maybe a stretch to ask but do you think you could do a video timelapse or something of you making one with the mod tool (which I am struggling with)?
You'll have to excuse me, upon reflection the thought I had wouldn't work as you make your character in a server which would require a person to be in a server, instead premaking noteable folks would be epic enough. Either in NPCS or devs \ youtubers would be awesome enough.
MrApothic I will have to see where this mod ends up, it does sound like a good idea tho. In regards to the system, I'm guessing you mean like a list so you can keep track of your collection? I'm not sure if that's something I could implement, maybe something I could learn in the future.
I know this is a strech idea- but it would be awesome to possibly include noteable folks of the community \ the devs as possible figures to collect? Or maybe create a system where a name can be inputed into a system for collectable figures to be found within the game?
Bloodwood Thanks, glad you like it.
Oh This is adorable! I already try to collect those figurines that appear in ruins or story structures but this is perfect for decorating my house
Ashleyyy33 π
sebbie Thanks, Plan is to make some gold and silver special versions once i get the base ones done
queermoth Thanks, Thought I would make that one of the first things to sort, plus wanted to figure out how that worked before making more.
oh i'm so glad you've already updated this to add them to the artisan trader, i was waiting since i only play survival! they're very cute, looking forwards to more animal releases :)
really cool idea. looking forward to where this goes
