Edge of Lineage: Legion

Edge Of Lineage: Legion

Recover the blades of a forgotten legion, forge their edges, and decorate them as your own

A Roman-inspired content pack for Edge of Lineage, so far adding five weapon lineages: Mainz gladius, Gladius Hispaniensis, Spatha, Pugio, and Hasta

Roman culture was only an inspiration. This mod does not aim to be historically accurate

REQUIRES: Edge of Lineage: Core ≥ 0.3.0
Attribute Rendering Library ≥ 3.2.0

Mod is currently in alpha state; expect bugs and broken interactions

All testing of this build was performed only on Vintage Story version 1.22.7
Earlier versions of the game are not supported

  • Fragments to trace: tip, forte
  • Assembly: socket ⇒ haft
  • Socket styles: Hasta
  • Haft styles: Hasta

Materials and finishes:

All five lineages can be forged from copper, tin bronze, bismuth bronze, black bronze, iron, meteoric iron, or steel

Guards, grips, pommels, and sockets accept these metal ingots or a debarked wood log. The Hasta's haft accepts only wood

Fitting materials multiply durability. The blade metal and lineage determine the weapon's damage and reach; fitting styles change its appearance

The gladii, Spatha, and Pugio support these finishes at the Weapon Dresser:

  • Grip cloth: 2 pieces of cloth
  • Grip wrap: 1 plain leather, or 4 native gold or silver nuggets
  • Guard or pommel gilding: 6 native gold or silver nuggets per zone
  • Guard or pommel gem: 1 supported gem or decorative mineral per zone

Finishes are cosmetic. Use a saw on the matching zone to remove a finish layer; the materials are lost

You can use allowed fitting styles as soon as you have this edge; they do not require their own lineage discovery

Compatibilities:

Legion supplies weapon profiles and storage transforms for Core's integrations

  • ConfigKit
Have issues

Roadmap:

Work on expanding parts quantity and quality is always ongoing. Follow Core's roadmap to see more

I don't think I understand how it works. it's not clear from the description. you find weapon fragments? somehow? and when you have enough matching fragments you can reforge the weapon?

Thanks! Your 2.0 version came out when I was already on the way with this idea and was a big inspiration for me not to cut some corners lol
Looking forward to your work as well!

Wanted to show support for the project. Personally, I'm not crazy about the Roman theme, but I love the concept of the mod. Looking forward to other packs. This is exactly what I've been wanting someone to do with different weapon styles. <3

Only after doing Roman first did I realize that it might have been the hardest from an assets perspective. To achieve detail with somewhat chonky swords, it's a lot of modeling lol

My bad, i forgot to add commands for testing

Use:
- /eol give edge lineage metal
- /eol parchment lineage
- /eol fragment lineage piece fidelity

You need controlserver privileges for that.

Thank you! I did a work around with spawning traders and looking for the parts also.

I will continue to test - May I ask, will there be quenching / tempering in the future?

I have to be honest - it was a new feature in 1.22, and for most of the time since release, I was extremely busy, so I completely forgot about its existence LOL
I did put it into the Roadmap earlier, and I will focus on polishing and making all of the vanilla features work first, and only then will I work on expanded functionality
So yes, quenching/tempering will be worked on very soon
