tl;dr: Beehive Kiln Door and Hatches can be made with Lead as a substitute for Iron.
So! I like pottery in Vintage Story. I think it's neat, and mods like Clayworks and Bricklayers add more neatness to the already neat stuff we can do, especially with the Beehive Kiln letting you get things in different colours! Only... there's a bit of a problem with the Beehive Kiln, at least in my opinion. You need to get to the point of being able to work with iron before you can build it, and you need quite a bunch of Iron in order to make it. I wanted access to the Beehive Kiln earlier, and I didn't want to spend so much iron making it; and so this mod was born.
This mod allows you to make the Fire Brick Kiln Door with Lead (adding Bars & Nails to Lead Smithing to make that possible), as well as allowing you to make a special Beehive Kiln hatch out of lead - unlike the Iron Hatch, this one can ONLY be used for the Beehive Kiln, so no using lead to make Steel. Outside of that, this mod does nothing. It doesn't make Fire Bricks more survivable in a Beehive Kiln, just makes it so you don't need iron to get access to pretty pottery colours.
Very big thanks to xXx_Ape_xXx for helping me resolve some issues - without their help this mod would've either never happened, or be a lot less satisfying (like using Lead to make the Iron Hatch)

bumblebink it should now be fixed. A lot of things were broken, but I do recall everything working fine in the first place - probably some mod weirdness on my end.

Using a heated lead ingot on an anvil just defaults to making a plate in vanilla:
Using a heated lead plate on an anvil results in an empty menu (I think this is vanilla behavior too?)
Fairyfloss Yeah, we have like ~80 lol. Guess it's time to look for the conflicting one(s) :(
bumblebink are you using other mods, too? I remember that it worked when I tested it, I'll look into it soon but I'd like to know if there's a chance of mod interference.
Anyone else having issues w/ not being able to smith the lead rods, nails & strips, and the hatch door? They don't show up when trying to use a lead ingot on an anvil (only seeing plate + chute).
it took my dumbass till now to realize I clicked on a kiln mod and not a beehive mod.
Freaya I think it should work still? I think it'll work for any 1.20.X version. There is no config file to change the chance of bricks breaking; that's out of scope for this mod, and likely beyond my capabilities. Consider looking at Bricks Can Take The Heat, which makes bricks more resilient to heat
Michael00181 My bees are just built different, that's why they make pottery.
Are you not aware how absurdly susceptible bees are to lead poisoning?
will this work in 1.20.9, and is their a mod config to change the chance of the breaks breaking?
