Update of Cheostian's original Knife Mold mod.  Cheostian kindly gave me permission to pick this up and bring it up to date for the new clay mechanics.

Original mod: https://mods.vintagestory.at/knifemold

In this updated version, all three clay types are useable (instead of just blue and fire in the original), and result in a clay-type-matched moulds in line with base-game mould behaviour, including beehive kiln ceramic variants.

As knife blades are only small, 100 units of metal will get you two blades!  Happy slicing!

Current languages are en-GB and en-US.  If anyone wants to provide other translations, please DM me on Discord (you can find me via the VS Discord).

Versions for 1.21 and 1.22:

Clay and ceramics changed a little bit between 1.21 and 1.22, and I've had to rework my three mould mods.  Many thanks to Spike88 for helping me realise this without playing 1.22!  As a result of this rework, the most recent versions of these mods will only work with 1.22 and beyond. Updating the 1.21-compatible version will likely cause ghost items.  The older versions will also work with 1.22, but with 1.21-style features (no coloured ceramics from a beehive kiln; no earthy orange texture from a pit kiln).  Here's how to determine which version to use:

  • You have a 1.22.n server and haven't had this mod on it yet: Use the latest version marked 1.22 only.
  • You have a 1.20/1.21.n  server and haven't had this mod on it yet: Use the latest version marked 1.21-compatible.  Do not use the most recent release.
  • You have a 1.22 server you've updated from 1.20/1.21 and you were using this mod under 1.20/1.21: Use the latest version marked 1.21.  Do not update to the most recent release unless you're sure you can first destroy all moulds created under the old version of the mod.

Update for changed clay and ceramics behaviours under 1.22.  Added "earthy orange" variant for pit kilns for red clay.  Added beehive kiln ceramic variants in line with base game moulds.  Do not update to this version!  You must start fresh.  See note in mod description!

In line with almost all other mods, removed game version dependency from modinfo.json to use ModDB's compatibility notation only.  This removes the version warning in game, and removes the need to upload new versions upon each game version release.

Added missing texture references, missing in original mod version.  Makes almost no visual difference, even compared side-by-side, but makes me happy.

Note the version info in the mod description.  This version gives 1.21-style functionality, but will work under 1.22 if you need to update your server.  Do not update from this version!  You must start fresh with later versions.

Backed up my save, deleted the mold I already had and then updated to the new version. Once I rejoined the game I spawned in the new mold using creative. Now all my molds on the mold rack are the same color 10/10.

Only thing is all the ingame molds are spelled without a u and this one is spelled a u

Yes the u is intentional.  I'm stubbornly and unapologetically British and we spell it "mould".  There is, however, an en-US translation of the mod included, so if your language is set to en-US, you should in theory see "mold" and "gray", not "mould" and "grey", though I haven't tested that the translations are working.

Is it possible for the red clay version to be orange now that red clay in the game makes orange ceramic items?

Hi Spike.  I haven't played 1.22 at all yet, so I haven't seen what the vanilla red clay moulds look like if they're different now.  I'm not sure whether you mean all red clay produces orange bakewares, and the vanilla moulds are now orange.  If they are, I should be able to swap that texture pretty easily.  If you mean that it's possible to make orange, but that's not what the basic moulds are when made from red clay, I'd prefer to match the look of the vanilla moulds.  Thanks for the question, I'll look into it.  Feel free to let me know how it is in 1.22 in more detail.

@Spike88: Standard pit kilns make earthy orange ceramics with red clay now.

OK, thanks for letting me know - I should be able to work out what they've done with the texture pretty easily!

After a little investigation of the base game files, it looks like the structure has changed significantly between 1.21 and 1.22, so in order to update my mould mods, they'll probably need a significant rewrite.  I'm actually surprised they're working at all right now...

Many thanks for your original question, which has spurred me to update all three of my mould mods, which now all offer the new "earthy orange" variant from pit kilns, plus beehive ceramic variants.  Please note the information in the description about not updating from the old version!

I've tested the end-to-end process for all three of my mould mods against 1.22 and they all still work.  Note that if a mod doesn't note compatibility with a certain game version, it doesn't mean it won't work - it just means the mod creator hasn't validated it against that version.  If the game gets an update, but nothing has changed to stop the mod working, it'll still work. it would be slammin if this got updated for 1.22

Is it not working?  Mods don't need to be marked as compatible to work, and I haven't played since the 1.22 update to test it.  If it's working, I'll just update the compatibility tags.
