Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.21.1, outdated):
Daymare's Cup Mod 1.0.7.zip  1-click install

I haven't had the time recently to update this, but IckleBickleBee has kindly done so for 1.22 over at https://mods.vintagestory.at/cupmodrevival

A mod which adds various types of drinking implements with more reasonable volumes.

You no longer need to down alcohol a litre at a time!

After drinking, you can throw your cup, dealing the same damage as a stone. (If you don't want this feature, it can be disabled in the config)

Included are:

Clay cups (300 ml)

Clay mugs (300 ml)

Clay shot cups (50 ml)

Wine glasses (300 ml)

Wooden tankards with metal accents (500 ml)

Clay products can be smelted in a beehive kiln to achieve any available colour. Any coloured glass can be used for wine glasses.

Any wood boards and metal strips can be used to customise your tankard (additional metals such as uranium are available in creative only).

Some cups may break when thrown:

Tankard - Invulnerable

Clay - 20% chance to break

Glass - 85% chance to break

These values are changeable in the config.

To get benefits from having smaller cups, use slowtox https://mods.vintagestory.at/slowtox which takes alcohol volume into account (unlike base VS).

Now works with Hydrate or Diedrate https://mods.vintagestory.at/hydrateordiedrate.

Known issues:

Wine glasses appear to only have surface of liquid when held and not full body of liquid - (I have given up on trying to fix this as it is beyond my comprehension, so if you can fix it, please let me know)

IckleBickleBee, May 9th at 7:32 AM

Hey all! Made an update for the mod for while the mod author is away. All credit goes to DayMare5, and if asked, I'll take it down. If and when he's back, he can have whatever changes I made. Happy tavern brawling!

Any chance you could update for 1.22?

My go to for cups. I have a question, would you also consider making metal goblet versions of cups? I would love to have a gold or silver goblets.

This is such a good mod! I have had a play around with it and had a tiny bit of friendly feedback:

  • Currently there are no crafting recipes for tankards with bismuth, brass, electrum, lead, nickel, stainless steel, tin and zinc accents.
These metals don't have corresponding nails and strips (which is part of the tankard crafting recipe) - a good alternative is to make a seperate recipe for them that uses nuggets instead.
Obviously it makes sense that some tankards with metals that haven't been fully implemented into survival (i.e. uranium, platinum, chromium, titanium and molybdochalkos) would be creative-only.
  • The wine glass GUI image could maybe be lowered a bit so it is more central? .tfedit is a handy command for fine-tuning this.

Keep up the good work!

Daymare5 - I did a patch in Shelf Obsessed so people can put your beverage vessels on bookshelves, when they're not throwing them at eachother XD

Cthugha Should be fixed in the latest release. Worked during initial testing, but something must have changed during the change from the release candidates to the main release with how it's handled.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but the clay colors don't seem to work. Handbook shows no recipe for the colored ceramics, and firing them in the beehive kiln gives "dark brown" no matter what, for both colors of clay.

Daymare5 , Sep 10th 2025 at 2:25 PM

ItzNapkins I just started a new job but I will get to it once I'm able! Should be as simple as removing the colouration option for the clay (though it's never that simple).

Is there also a possibility this could be compatible for 1.20.12 or similair versions? Haven't tested it yet but would love to include this in an older modded server to throw tankards at eachother in the tavern gehhaha.

Daymare5 , Sep 1st 2025 at 11:52 AM

HentaiHamster The new version includes the ability to pick up water (it takes priority over throwing, so if you're looking at water it will pick it up), and the option to disable throwing altogether if needed via config. The break chances can now also be altered through config.

Yamsterz, Aug 31st 2025 at 1:40 AM

any way you can add in a config to disable throwing? I play with hydrate mod and want to fill cups but throw is right click....and fill from the water is right click.

XyrVexus Glad you enjoy! I was inspired playing some deep rock galactic recently and thought it would add some fun multiplayer shenanigans being able to throw the cups.

Glad your mod SlowTox exists, I only realised that alcohol volume isn't considered in VS until I was getting the same effect from a 0.05L shot as with a full 1L bowl!

XyrVexus, Aug 28th 2025 at 4:19 PM

I love the throwing and breaking mechanics! Very fun for taverns

Daymare5 , Aug 26th 2025 at 11:26 AM

Ravenduh I'm definitely not opposed to the idea.

Ravenduh, Aug 26th 2025 at 1:34 AM

would you ever make a plate/cutlery mod?
